RESIDENTIAL STREET -- DAY The three girls stop in front of Lynda's house, a modest suburban home on a quiet, tree-lined street. What time? LYNDA I don't know yet. I have to get out of taking my stupid brother trick or treating. Saving the treats for Bob? LYNDA Fun-ny. See you. Lynda strolls up to her house. Annie and Laurie start down the street. CAMERA MOVES IN to a CLOSE SHOT of Laurie's face. She stares ahead along the sidewalk. 'S POV -- MOVING SHOT -- BUSHES Up the sidewalk is a series of bushes lining the street. There, partially hidden in the shadows of a bush, is the shape of a man, watching them. He is barely visible, almost blending in with the dark foliage. ANGLE ON -- Look. Look where? Behind that bush there. Annie looks. POV -- MOVING SHOT -- BUSHES The shape is gone. Just bushes. ANGLE ON -- I don't see anything. That man who drove by so fast, the one you yelled at. Subtle, isn't he? Hey creep! Annie walks right over to the bushes and kicks them hard. Nothing happens.

2 (continuing) Laurie, my dear, he wants to talk to you. Laurie just stands on the sidewalk several feet from the bushes. (continuing) He wants to take you out tonight. Slowly Laurie walks over and stares at the bush. He was standing right here. Poor Laurie. You scared another one away. Cute. They start walking down the sidewalk again. It's tragic. You never go out. You must have a small fortune stashed from babysitting so much. The guys think I'm too smart. Laurie glances back at the bushes behind them. I don't. I think you're whacko. You're seeing men behind bushes. The two girls stop in front of Annie's house, another small suburban home. (continuing) Well, home sweet home. I'll see you later. Okay. Bye. Annie walks up to her door. For a moment Laurie looks around cautiously before starting down the sidewalk again., CAMERA TRACKING WITH HER. A strong wind rises and blows her hair in front of her face. Again she turns around and glances back down the street. 'S POV -- BUSHES There is still nothing there.

3 Option #2: from Ghostbusters (1984) by Dan Aykroyd & Harold Ramis RECEPTION AREA -- DAY A bored-looking red-headed young woman, MELNITZ, sits in a swivel chair behind the reception desk, putting another coat of red polish on her heavily lacquered nails. Spengler is on his hands and knees wiring up the telephone system. (with a definitive Queens accent) You're very handy, I can tell. I bet you like to read a lot, too. (looks up) Print is dead. That's very fascinating to me. I read a lot myself. Some people think I'm too intellectual. But I think reading is a fabulous way to spend your spare time. (he doesn't answer) I also play racketball. Do you ever play? Is that a game? It's a great game! You should play sometime. I bet you'd be good. You seem very athletic. Do you have any hobbies? I collect spores, molds and fungus. Oh, that's very - unusual. I think it's the food of the future. Remind me not to go to lunch with you. THE DOOR Dana Barrett enters and looks around hesitantly, Venkman springs into action. VENKMAN (all charm) Hello. I'm Peter Venkman. May I help you? DANA Yes... well... I'm not sure. What I have to say may sound a little... unusual. VENKMAN We're all professionals here, Miss...

4 DANA Barrett. Dana Barrett. They walk toward the inner office. VENKMAN Why don't you step into the office and we'll talk about it. (to Janine) Hold all my calls, Janine. What calls? Venkman frowns and exits with Dana.

6 (CONT'D) Their morals, their code... it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. You'll see- I'll show you... when the chips are down, these civilized people... they'll eat each other. (grins) See, I'm not a monster... I'm just ahead of the curve. Batman GRABS the Joker and pulls him upright. Batman HOISTS the Joker up by the neck. Where's Dent? You have these rules. And you think they'll save you. I have one rule. Then that's the one you'll have to break. To know the truth. Which is? (smiles) The only sensible way to live in this world is without rules. Tonight you're going to break your one rule... Batman leans in to the Joker. I'm considering it.
