ENGLISH SPEAKING TRAINING ELEMENTARY LEVEL DIALOGUES (SEE TIPS AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE AUDIO FILE)

LESSON 1 - DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?

Excuse me, are you Australian? No. Do you speak English? A little, but not very well. How long have you been here? 4 months. What do you do? I m a student. How about you? I m a student too.

LESSON 2 - FAMILY TRIP

Dave, what have you been up to lately? I went on a trip with my family last weekend. Really? Where did you go? We went to Germany. What cities did you go to? Berlin, Munich and a few other smaller cities. Did you go to Cologne? No, We didn t go there. I d like to go there next time. I think the summer is a good time to visit Cologne. It s a beautiful place and the people there are very nice. That s what I ve heard. I went there 3 years ago. If you want, I can give you some information I have about the city. Thanks.

LESSON 3 - ASKING ABOUT LOCATION

Excuse me, I m looking for the Top 10 Holiday Park. Do you know where it is? Sure. It s down this street on the left. Is it far from here? No, it s not far. How far is it? About a kilometre and a half. How long does it take to get there? 5 minutes or so. Is it close to the underground station? Yes, it s very close. The underground station is next to the holiday park. You can walk there. Thanks a lot.

LESSON 1 - A CONCERT I ATTENDED

Last weekend I was at a concert. It was my favourite band and I love their live performances. They are called: The Trip. They play industrial metal and their guitar player is so good. I usually cannot go to their performances, but they were in town at the weekend. I was so happy I bought the tickets right when they hit the ticket agency. There were lots and lots of people. It was like a huge festival. The people gathered from all around the country and I even met someone who lives 550 Kilometres away! They only came for this concert, in spite of the fact that they had to travel 6 hours to reach my town. I loved every single moment of it since the people were so kind and cheerful. There were some problems nonetheless. Some guys got into a fight while they were dancing. Fortunately the security guards realized the problem and intervened. To sum up my experience, the concert was really good, the music was outstanding and the atmosphere was excellent (except for the little incident of course). I will definitely buy their new single when it hits the market. I highly recommend going to their parties because it was one of the best concerts of my life.

LESSON 2 - A FRIEND OF MINE

I would like to talk about a friend of mine. His name is Jack. I have known him for a long time now. I don t exactly remember how or where we met. He has some good qualities and some bad ones, too. He is a very funny guy and he also has a big heart when it comes to his friends. He is very good at sports. A disadvantage of his personality is that he gets mad easily if something doesn t happen the way he wants. He likes to play online games and we usually have a great time doing so. The same goes for pool, billiards, and basketball. We often go out to have a beer or a coffee and talk about everything that comes to mind. His aggression comes out mostly during competitive things like online gaming and sports. He can t stand losing. He gets furious in an instant. I think this comes from his temperament and from his zodiac sign. He is a Scorpio. These people are kind and normal, but if you hurt them, they pay back it even worse. Usually he calms down fast, but it depends on the gravity of the situation.

LESSON 3 - MY LAST HOLIDAY

A few years ago I flew to Athens to visit a friend of mine. He lives in the suburbs of Athens. The flight was a bit uncomfortable for me because I am afraid of heights. However, it took only 1 and a half hours to reach the Greek capital. My friend came to the airport to pick me up. The city was a bit strange since every building was grey. The sky was grey too because of the smoke. The weather was so hot, even with the air conditioner on. Almost every flat has an air-conditioner because they would not be able to live without it. Despite all that the city was really nice. The people were rushing all the time but that happens if you live in the capital. We got to see the acropolis and other famous buildings and sites of Athens. After a few days we headed to Corfu which lies in the northwest part of Greece. The trip was really long and hot. We stopped to see some other sights of the country. In Corfu we could finally swim in the sea and had a great time there. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to visit Greece to go to Athens and see the sights.

ENGLISH SPEAKING TRAINING B2 LEVEL (SEE TIPS AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE AUDIO FILE)

LESSON 1- IS AIR TRAVEL SAFE?

Less people die in airplane crashes than in car crashes. Airport security checks are more precise and safer than on any other means of transport. In case of emergency / a problem it s more difficult to correct. Its labour force is very well-trained. It s scarier than any other means of transport. It s responsible for lots of people s safety. Apart from turbulence, I don t have bad experiences of flying. There s a lot of films dealing with this topic. It must feel horrible to crash into the ocean. Unfortunately there have been planes hijacked.

LESSON 2 - GAME OVER FOR LIMITS ON VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES

I would definitely ban them. Children get false pictures of life. Video games make people aggressive. You can believe you re immortal. The time you spend playing video games seems less than reality. It destroys relationships. It causes total addiction. It s unhealthy sitting in front of the screen all day. There have been fatal accidents and victims. Children can consider video games to be the reality.

LESSON 3 - ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

Our environment is threatened by many problems, all of which are caused by humans. Today s world is based on the idea of economic growth which requires that more and more non-renewable resources (oil, gas and coal) are used up to increase production. This creates a lot of pollution in many regions of the world while it fails to make people happier. The idea is questionable because the resources are limited, so we have to start thinking how we could use more of the renewable resources before the resources run out. Also, we will have to look for alternative economical models which can provide a sustainable future for humanity. We can do a lot to protect our environment. We should begin at home by buying products that do not pollute the environment, collecting our waste selectively and participating in local initiatives to help save forests and endangered species. We can also think about using less energy. For example, we can buy energy-efficient light bulbs or install solar panels and wind turbines onto our houses. Social initiatives such as community gardening can also make our lives much greener and happier because we can eat our own naturally grown food and share it with each other while being in close contact with nature. We can also meet lots of like-minded people! It is a difficult question whether nuclear and hydro power are acceptable or not. They do not generate pollution directly but nuclear meltdowns (like Chernobyl or Fukushima) cause an enormous environmental disaster. Hydro plants on the other hand create a barrier in natural waters and destroy the habitat of many fish and birds. Moreover, it is very important to protect endangered species, both plants and animals. They are not just beautiful but also play an important role in how nature works.
