It was just like an ordinary day. An ordinary, yet different kind of day... I was sitting on the couch, watching my favourite cartoon Looney Tunes until I heard an unusual noise. ~1~

SCH! SCH! Screech! Screech! SCH! SCH! Screech! Screech! I looked all around until I met my window. Upon it were fine, white scratch marks from a mere tree branch. But what on Earth?! Now the tree branch, is- knocking on my window! ~2~

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! I walk over to my window. Hmmm. Very strange. There was nothing there. I wandered back over to the couch to continue watching my Looney Tunes when I very faintly heard a teeny, tiny, voice. ~3~

Umm.. Hello? Uh.. Hellooo?! Oh dear. I went back to the window and opened it a crack... Hello? I mumbled. Oh! Uh...hello! Um I m terribly sorry to bother you, but- do you mind opening the door? Umm Please? it s ever so cold out here! Oh all right. ~4~

When I opened the door I called out, Um- it s open! All of a sudden I see something the size of a small tennis ball with a top hat, scurry inside. Oh thank you! He hollered. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Silence. Oh! How rude of me! He cried. My name is Tim. What s your name? ~5~

My name s Bella. I said. Ummm not to be rude, but- what are you? What am I? He said Why, have you never seen a thing-a-mi-jig before? Uhhhh.. I.. can t say I have ~6~

Really?! Well, we are an exotic species of tennis ball. A Tennis Ball?! You look much too posh to be a Tennis Ball. Well there are traces of penguin, human, scones and teddy bear. Ah-huh. So, I don t suppose you are going to tell me why you re here? ~7~

Of course, of course. Ahem. It was an ordinary day... *flashback* I was watching my favourite show Looney Tunes when all of a sudden, there was a great big rumble in the ground. EARTHQUAKE! Everyone hollered. ~8~

I ran out from inside my burrow. Everyone else was already locking up their shelters. I didn t know where to go. I could hear my Mother calling to me, but I couldn t move. Once again, there was a loud rumble in the ground. I looked up to see a GINORMOUS tree above me swaying in the wind, and breaking from the ground. ~9~

As petrified as I was, I ran as fast as I could to a bush for shelter, and missed the tree by seconds. When all was quiet, I came out again. Between me, and the rest of the pack, was the ginormous tree from before. It was much too tall to climb over, and it would take weeks to build a staircase up. ~10~

I decided that the best thing to do was to find a warm place for the night. I found that tree over there, and slept within the leaves. This morning I heard the Looney Tunes theme song, and thought that whoever lives here might be able to help me get back home. ~11~

I broke a small branch off the tree, stood on my tippy toes, and scratched, and knocked with all my might. And.. well, now I m here. Well then, I murmured I guess you better come inside. Oh, thank you, thank you! He cried. ~12~

Good Morning! Cried the Thing-a-mi-jig Good Morning. I mumbled. Is the time you usually get up?" "I mean.. it s 5 :00 o clock! My Mum and Dad won t even be up yet! Oh absolutely! He hollered. ~13~

"We Thing-a-mi-jigs are always up early so there s more time to get things done. Great. I said, rolling over on the bed. So, what re we doing today? Hmmmm. Well, have you ever been to a park?" Of course I've been to a park!. Uh what is a park exactly? ~14~

A park is usually a field of grass with equipment for children to play on. Right.. Well.. alright- as long as it s safe. Us Tennis Balls are prone to accidents! So Tim and I went to the park. But when we got there, Tim seemed sad. Oh how I wish I could go back home. I miss my family so much! ~15~

I know you do. I just... need to figure it out how to get you back. When we got back home, we were both very tired. Is Looney Tunes on tonight? Asks Tim. I don t think so but- how about we play a game? ~16~

Like what? Hmmmm.. What about Monopoly? What s Monokey?! Monopoly.. As I explained on, I realised for the first time that I wasn t alone. I wasn t the only child anymore. ~17~

I had someone else to play games with, to watch tv with, and to talk to. For the first time I wasn t alone. But I knew it wouldn t last for long. That night I lay awake thinking of how I could get Tim back home. ~18~

The next morning Looney Tunes was on again. While Tim watched Looney Tunes on the couch, I sat at the table trying to think of a way to get Tim back home. Then it hit me. When Tim first came, he mentioned how the tree was too big for his family to climb over- but they were just tennis balls. ~19~

I m a girl. Surely will be able to just climb over the tree? Right? I looked over at Tim. He caught my eye and smiled at me. I smiled back. Hmm.. another day can t hurt- can it? ~20~

The next morning I decided that today was the day. I will take Tim back to his family. I walked over to the couch and sat down next to Tim. He paused Looney Tunes. Good Morning Good Morning Tim. I smiled at him. ~21~

So I explained. I ve been thinking. Yes? said Tim Well, I realised that when you first came, you said it was much too big for you or your family to climb over. Right? Right. But I am a lot bigger than you. So, I thought You can take me back to my family?! Cried Tim ~22~

That s amazing! Let s go!! Let s go right now! I can t believe I m going to see my family! So off we went. I tried to be happy for Tim, I really did. But.. I knew that I d miss him so much. ~23~

Here it is. Explained Tim. Standing in front of him, was a large tree. Maybe if I stand on my tippy-toes I thought. So your family is on the other side? Yep. Ok then. Let s give this a go. I lowered my hand to Tim. ~24~

He jumped on, and I placed him on my shoulder. I stood on my tippy-toes and and reached for the tree. My hands got a grip, and I pulled myself up. Sitting on top of the fallen tree, I could see Tim s village. ~25~

I was imagining everything that had happened right in front of me. From the corner of my eye, I saw something move. From the ground, out came another Tennis Ball. She was shocked. ~26~

Oh my goodness! She cried. Tim?!!!! Is that you Tim? She ran over. I removed Tim from my shoulder, and placed him on the ground. Mummy! I missed you so much! I missed you too dear. Now tell me, who s this? Oh! How silly of me! He said running over to me. ~27~

This is Bella. I ve been staying at her house while she s been trying to help get me back home. I jumped down from the tree trunk. Hello. I said. Oh thank you ever so much for bringing my Tim home. I missed him so much! That s ok. I smiled at the two of them. ~28~

Well. I said. I should probably get going now. My Mum and Dad will probably be making breakfast now. I said. Thank you again. Tim s Mum cried. I turned to go. You will still come visit won t you? I turned around to see Tim at my feet. ~29~

I picked him up. Everyday. I said. And maybe someday, my Dad can come and move this awful tree. Tim smiled. I put Tim back down next to his Mum. Goodbye Tim. I said. I ll come and see you tomorrow to watch Looney Tunes. ~30~

Ok! Tim smiled. See you then! Byee! I climbed back over the tree and went back home. And that s how it happened. That s how me and Tim became the best of friends. And that s what we ll always will be. ~31~
