3 A friend in need is a friend in deed One day, two friends were waking through the woods. Suddeny, they heard a oud noise behind them. They stopped and turned around to see what it was. It s a bear! cried one man. He did not think about his friend, but instead quicky ran to the nearest tree. He cimbed up to the highest branch. The other man was sower, and he suddeny found himsef aone with the bear near him. He quicky ay down with his face to the ground and didn t move. He pretended to be dead, because he was once tod that a bear woud not eat a dead body. The bear came coser to the man. He waked a around him, then stopped and owered his head cose to the man s ear. One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Quran just ike you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I cose the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?" The grandfather gave his grandson the basket that is used to keep coa and tod him to go to the river and bring a basket of water. The boy did as he was tod, but a the water eaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather aughed and said, "You' have to move a itte faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time DPo the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he tod his grandfather that it was impossibe to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
