Otherwise, it acts as an adjective or noun. 2

3 How do I form regular -ing participles? Most verbs that end in an e drop the e and add ing. Most verbs that end in y keep the y and add -ing. If the second-to-last letter is a short vowel sound, double the last letter and add ing. 1.
