1 Year 5 English Shuffled Sentences In questions below you must rearrange words so that each sentence makes sense However, one word in list does not fit in sentence Mark word that does not make sense in sentence Example! went my after friends with buy shopping breakfast I In example above, sentence 'unshuffles' read 'after breakfast I went shopping with my friends' There will be no punctuation or capital letters (or than proper nouns or words like 'I') help you in se questions, so don't try searching for m for clues! Once sentence has been unshuffled, we can see that word that doesn't fit in this example is 'buy' T ips for unshuffling sentences Try think ACTIVELY about order of sentence - don't just stare at words on page! First, see if you can work out SUBJECT of sentence This is person, place, idea or thing that is being or doing something in sentence If above doesn't work, try start pairing verbs with adverbs, and nouns with adjectives (revise parts of speech if necessary) Grouping words ger in this way will help you start form sentence Look for a word that seems 'odd' For example, if most of verbs are past tense but one is present tense, this may be your answer There may be two conflicting words that wouldn't often be ger in a sentence For example, 'morning' and 'evening' wouldn't often be in same sentence, so one of m could be odd word out Try numbering your words in correct order as you work out sentence (eg put a '1' above first word, a '' above second, etc) This will sp you having start all over again if you lose your place! If you do all of above but you still can't work out word that doesn't fit in sentence, don't waste time worrying about it! 3 Year 5 Maths Decimals We use decimals when we are dealing with numbers that aren't whole numbers They're same thing as fractions, just written in a different way You need understand place value before you can deal with decimals effectively See chart below Hundreds Tens Units Tenths Hundredths T housandths ' and hundredths' ' and tenths' The decimal point separates whole numbers from fractions ' and thousandths' Multiplying and Dividing Decimals by 1, 1 and 1 When you need multiply or divide a decimal by 1, 1 or 1, you simply move numbers left (for mutliplication) or right (for division) make m bigger or smaller Although it will look like it has moved, decimal point stays in same place Example! Don't forget! 1 x 1 H T U t h 1 1 th When we're multiplying by 1, we need make number 1 times bigger Therefore, every number 'shifts' 1 place left ( places when we multiply by 1, places when we multiply by 1) Example!
