Academics I am a very calm and easy-going person with a strong sense of right and wrong. I am very creative and punctual. YUL went to school for a total of 15 years including primary and lower secondary school. After finishing business school he started working for an international pharmaceutical company as an industrial operator. He is planing on spending a additional two years on his education. YUL s career goal is to be an associate manager in a pharmaceutical company. His former jobs include working as a clerical worker, production worker and an industrial operator. He has carried out voluntary work in a non-profit organisation helping young vulnerable youngsters completing their education and teaching them how to get a job. YUL s native language is Danish and he also speaks German and English. He has not served in the military. My career goal is to become an associate manager in a pharmaceutical company.

2 Q&A with YUL YUL answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Calm, easy-going, strong sense of right and wrong, extrovert, very creative and punctual. Describe your strong sides: One of my strongest sides is my psyche because I can always see the shining city on a hill (lovely qoute by Ronald Reagan) regardless of what problems I have faced in life. My other strong side is my eagerness to complete a task 100 %. Another good side is to see a problem from other people s perspective - a very good characteristic that has helped me a lot in my voluntary work Describe your weak sides: As everybody else, I also have weak sides. One of my weak sides is that I m very creative and always get a lot of ideas. I don t know if that s general for males... But many ideas always spin through my mind... My ideas can be to start a new café and be self-employed, new ideas to the garden... Ideas are good... If I could just complete the ideas. However, if I do get an idea I really like, then I go all in to fulfill it. Another weak side is that I m not always good at saying what is on my mind. I have to be really pissed off to say what s on my mind if people have offended me. Sometimes I wish I could have a bit more temper. Do you eat healthy? Always. Do you smoke? No. Do you ride a bicycle? Often. How much alcohol do you drink on average per week? 0. Which countries have you visited: Malta, Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Great Britain, Netherlands, Greece and Hungary. Describe the best holiday you have had: The best holiday I have ever had was in Italy. It was around Lake Garda at a campsite where my family had rented mobilehomes. My family was my mother, my 2 sisters, my brother-inlaw and my 3 nephews. It had been a long time since our last holiday together. It s so cozy to travel with your closest family. We visited Verona and Venize. What is your marital status? Girlfriend. Do you have any children? No. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Soccer and handball. Which other types of sports are you interested in? Running. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: Ancient history and history in general. What do you like the most about your own country: I like the voluntary associations which are rich in tradition. And our welfare system which is founded on helping each other. Rich people help the poor people. List which musical instruments you play or have played: No one. Religion: Protestant (I m not especially religious). How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? 7-8.

3 Q&A with YUL - continued YUL s dreams, favourites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? My idol was Ronald Reagan. I have read his biography and other books about him. You can always agree and disagree with politics but the person Ronald Reagan - what a gentleman and a top class politician. He was good at communicating and was also known as the great communicator. He always started his speaches with a joke to catch the attention of the audience, and he talked in a way people could understand. He was always smiling and he had this motto: There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don t care who gets the credit. He lived by that - what a man! My other idol is more in general. I m thinking of monks and nuns. They don t have any material wealth and they help sick people and others who need their help. It must be very mentally rewarding, and it is very praiseworthy. Scariest: When a drunk person drove into me. Proudest: When I meet adults and they can remember when I trained them in playing soccer and handball when they were younger. They tell me that they had a great time. Most dangerous: When a drunk person drove into me. Greatest sorrow: When my dad died. What is your favourite colour? Red. That colour makes me relaxed and happy. What is your favourite animal? Dogs. They are very loyal and funny. What are your goals in life? My goal in life is to help people and do voluntary work. It s great and it also develops me as a person. What were your childhood dreams? As all boys, I hoped to become a police officer or to be in the army but my future did not go in that direction. I do not know why... Which values do you rank the highest? Loyalty, empathy, honesty. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? When I was in lower primary school, I was a bit lazy with homework and schoolwork. I had the best teacher ever who was very strict but fair. I respected him a lot and he made me one of the best in class before I finished primary scool. He made me pull myself together. What is your favourite kind of food? Thai food. It is healthy, tasty and easy to cook. What is your favourite kind of music? Jazz and classical music. It has a good rhythm and makes you feel good. What is your favourite kind of car? Citroën. It is French and good-looking - and it runs well. What is your favourite kind of pet? Dogs. They are very loyal and funny. What is your favourite time of year? Christmas. Most people are happy and greets which is something many people do not do in the summer. Which was your greatest experience or moment? One of my greatest moments was when I was nominated and won a medal for being a good sports leader. Happiest: When I met my girlfriend and we moved in together. Funniest: When I do voluntary work as a soccer coach. There are always funny moments. What is your favourite book and/or author? An American Life (biography by Ronald Reagan). He writes so directly and is easy to understand. A very interesting and intriguing life. What is your favourite movie and/or director? Shutter Island with Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley and Max von Sydow. Directed by Martin Scorsese. A very interesting thriller where you have to think a bit for yourself.
