1 Name Derivational Relations Sort 1 - Review of Prefixes (un-, re-, dis-, mis-) Date Derivational Relations - Word Hunt 1 Review of Prefixes My family and I moved to a new house when I was in fifth grade. My reaction to the news wasn t the best, since I had to change schools. This was unplanned, but my Mom had gotten a new job and there was no arguing with the change. My Mom and Dad tried to reassure me that I would be able to adjust, but I was unable to reform my thoughts. When moving day came, I was all packed and ready to load the truck. I had unglued all of my posters from the wall, and collected my unread magazines from under my bed. As I carried the boxes downstairs, it was as if everything that was unattached to the floors of the house was gone! All moved into the moving truck and on its way to a new home. After we unpacked the boxes into the new house, it was time to start reinstalling all of our things. The TV had to be reattached to the wall, the computer set up in a new location. When I got up to my new room it was chaos and disorder. This space was different then my old room. I had to reconsider the location of my bed, dresser, and personal belongings. It was hard to begin unpacking. I felt like there were millions of boxes with all of my things misplaced in them! I wanted to discontinue unpacking and pretend we were going back to our old house, but I knew that wasn t true. I continued setting up my room and getting ready for my first day at my new school. I knew it wasn t the end of the world - but I certainly wasn t excited for this new change in my life!

It was about the postcolonial time period in American history. The documentary began in the prewar era before the Revolutionary War. It ended in the postwar era with the preexisting 13 colonies declaring their independence for England. Afterward, I turned off the television and decided to go and read my graphic novel. I began with the forward. This is the portion of the book where the author explains a little bit about the topic of the book. I became so preoccupied by the story, that I didn t realize it was dinner time until my stomach began to grumble. Dinner had become an afterthought. I ran down the stairs and was pleasantly surprised. My mom had cooked my favorite meal - Mac and Cheese! Delicious!

My mom stays home every day to make sure it is the house on the block! She thinks it's important to have a clean house when she is entertaining her guests. And I am sooo lucky because I always get to school than you do. The teacher lets me pass out morning work, because I m always the one to arrive in our classroom! I love having that job and I try my best to always get there first! When my mom and I go shopping, she always buys me the clothes. My clothes are than yours too! They are the ones you can buy. All of the pop stars on television are wearing them. Even my family is the best! My dad is the man around. He never punishes me or gives me harsh consequences. He is definitely than your parents. My siblings are the best too! My brother is the runner in his class. He can race than the other
7 kids and always wins the gold medal. It's really the thing how our families can be so different! The other boy simply got off the bench and walked away. He had enough of his friend's bragging. He was the kid in the class... surely there was someone better to play with at recess! 8 Name Derivational Relations Sort 4 - Review of Suffixes (-ness, -ful, -less) Date Derivational Relations - Word Hunt Sort 4 - Review of Suffixes Assembly Time The students in room 7 were incredibly respectful during the assembly. They sat bottom to bottom and their behavior was flawless! They demonstrated politeness by clapping at the appropriate times, and staying focused and quiet. It was unfortunate that the students in room 8 could not be as graceful. Their behavior was disrespectful. The show was entertaining, yet they couldn t show their attentiveness for more then 3 minutes! The principal felt an emptiness in his heart. He had watched breathless as they talked and exhibited hands-on behavior! It made him so upset. He knew some of the students were a unruly, but was shocked at their lack of self-control. He promised to reprimand them for their misbehavior over the announcements the next morning. What a disaster!
