The Guest Her View: I m terrified. Why has this happened? What does he want? I m trying to see where I am, trying to work out what I can do. I ve been crying, sobbing in terror, completely panicked. Must stop, calm down, shit, shit, shit. Must get control, must see what I can do. Try to breath. Damn this gag. Slowly - in through the nose, hold it and slowly out. Think of my yoga class. Concentrate on breathing. Don t think about anything else for a while. Just breathe. His View: It s all gone exactly to plan. She is here just as I had always thought she would be. She is scared of course. You can tell by her eyes wide open, darting this way and that with every move I make. She has been crying. Her mascara has run; a long black track of a tear has streaked her left cheek. Why is he just sitting there watching me? Why doesn t he move? He s sitting on the far side of the room, on a simple wooden chair. That s it I can try to see what I can in my surroundings. Try to remember anything that might be a clue if I get out of this. No - when I get out of this. What can I see? Not much. There s him. Sat on his chair. He s wearing a ski-mask, I can t see anything of his features from here. What s he wearing? Some sort of black sweater, black jeans, trainers, can t see a brand. Hard to tell how tall he is sitting down. Is he the one that grabbed me? Or is he just a guard? Is it just him or are there more? Stick to thinking about the room. What can I see? There s him, on his chair. He s still looking at me. He doesn t say anything, doesn t move. Think about the room. Can t see the door, it must be behind me. No windows, does that put us underground? God, no don t let him bury me alive, please. Think about the room. Floor, its wood, floorboards, not concrete. They re not painted, there s been carpet here but it s been taken up. There s an areas around the edge of the room about two feet wide that s been varnished, here in the middle where the carpet was it s bare boards. There s a skirting board, quite deep, it s not modern. Could be Victorian, Edwardian, something like that. It s an old house. Anything on the walls? No pictures. No wallpaper. It s painted, a sort of buff colour. Nondescript. There s a table; a small one, over by the wall. I really like the top she s wearing. It s white, with a neat little collar. It s made in a sort of ribbed effect fabric, quite stretchy, tight, with short cuffed sleeves. They have a little v shaped nick in the cuffs. Why do I find that sexy? He s just staring. Why doesn t he say something? Anything. It could be the most melodramatic line. Why doesn t he just speak? It s like he s examining me in minute detail. Like I m under a microscope. Almost as though he s dissecting me with his eyes. Oh, no! What if that s what he is? a cannibal. That film. Dear god, not that. I remember watching her buy it in Next. I think that was the first time she noticed me. I recall her looking at me as she paid, giving me a haven t I seen you before? look. I d been more careful after that. Her top is rucked up a bit over her belly. I hadn t realised she d had her navel pierced, you learn so much but you always miss a few things. Lots of girls have it done now. On her it looks quite cute. Her top is rucked up because of the rope. It s the one that runs across her chest and around her arms that has done it. It cuts into her arms a bit. That s the problem with short sleeves the rope tends to mark the arms. It s got a dark stain on one shoulder too, I guess that s from the van, it wasn t there earlier. Oil, I suppose. I should have moved the tools from the back; they might have bounced around and hurt her. Or she might have got loose. Think about it. He s just watching. No worse than I get in the clubs. Some of them have their tongues hanging out. It s all right as long as he s just watching. The way out of this has got to be to take things easy. He s going to be scared too. Sometime he ll get worried or frightened. That s the biggest danger for me. I think I need him to feel safe, get him to feel that the whole thing is OK with

me. Is that a way out? Who knows but it s worth a try. I get the chance to try anything. With these ropes and this gag I can t do anything much. Just try not to do anything to get him spooked. Like I say, you learn a lot about them. That s all part of the plan. It takes a lot to find it all out but you have to. She s 19, her next birthday is in May the 17th. That makes her a Taurus, I guess. (It s funny I was reading a star signs chart today it said with Taureans what you see is what you get. I don t think they meant like this though. Not really) Let s see what else oh, yes, 5 feet four inches tall, 98 lbs, dress size ten, bra size 34B, shoe size English 4. She works in the newsagents at the end of the precinct. She lives in a flat about fifteen minutes walk away from where she works. Well, it s ten minutes if you cut through the car park. And, of course, she does cut through the car park. Especially if she s in a hurry, especially like last night. There s something familiar about him. Just the shape of his body. Like someone I ve seen out of the corner of my eye. Somewhere. Someone I haven t really noticed. I m pretty sure he s not someone I know, though they say that s most likely. Think about this. May be that s why he hasn t spoken. Doesn t want me to hear his voice. A jealous lover? Who am I kidding? Three men in the last year and they all dumped me. Someone who s tried and I ve brushed them aside? I can t think who? No one at work. There s only Mr Jacobs and he must be sixty. This man s not sixty. At least he s still wearing the mask. That means he doesn t intend to kill me. That, or he still thinks I could escape. That, or he s just trying to spook me. Well he s succeeding. Alright, Mr Mystery, I m scared. Happy now? All the girls where she works wear white blouses and black skirts. Not a uniform really, you understand, just the same sort of clothes. I like the skirt she s got on today. It s short well she s got nice legs with box pleats. She looks sort of sporty but quite smart and serious too. A nice contradiction. She always smiled when I went into the shop. For a paper or a magazine. I don t smoke or anything, you see. She always smiled. Not like some of them, Real sour faces, some of them have. All laughs and jokes behind the counter but scowls for the customers. I sometimes think they don t know why they are there. Tarty dressers some of them, too. You can see their underwear through their blouses, skirts too short. I don t like that. This one s always been nice. Dresses neatly, takes care of her looks. Always smiles, smart, attractive. Well, she attracted me, I suppose. Anyway why me? If he knows anything about me it s not for ransom or to burgle my flat. And it s not like I work in a jewellers or a bank or anything so it s not for a robbery at work. I m not that great looking, either. I mean, I like how I look but even in the shop there are sexier looking girls; they ve always got the lads chatting them up, asking them out. They don t seem to notice me. This one noticed me, though. Maybe it was just random, just bad luck. Maybe he was just looking for a girl, any girl and I came along. Hey don t do yourself down girl; maybe he chose you. You re plenty good looking enough to be able to attract Well attract what? Attract a man whose idea of a relationship is to grab you, drug you, tie you up, gag you and stare at you until you re half crazy? No make that entirely, completely, totally, fucked-up crazy. She still looks scared. It s probably my mask. I guess that must be frightening, but she must realise why it s needed. Oh, this fucking gag. I think my jaw is dislocated. God knows what he s pushed in my mouth. It s stuffed full, I can feel my cheeks bulging and it s catching in my throat. Don t let me choke. Would he pull the gag out if I started to choke? Could I pretend to be choking? Would he notice? I can t move my tongue, can t shift the tape. He s looking at me again. Why doesn t he say something? He can t expect me to start the conversation not with this in my mouth. Stop it can t you! I shake my head. A strand of hair comes lose from the comb I wear to keep it up. He notices that. God it s like being in a fish bowl. I guess I ll keep as quiet as I can. It can t be a good idea to upset him, whoever he is.

She gives a whimper. It s muffled by her gag. I m pleased with how well that s working. Of course it doesn t look so pretty. The way all that cloth fills up her mouth and puffs out her cheeks looks a bit strange and the way the tape is criss-crossed across her mouth doesn t look too good. I must remember just what I used - it doesn t let her make too much noise and she hasn t worked it loose at all. Even though she s been trying to work her tongue around inside. Too much cloth for that. She can see I m looking at her gag. She gives an angry grunt and shakes her head. A strand of hair comes loose and hangs across her face. She s got a nice mouth, it s a shame the tape has to cover her lips. I could try a ball gag on her I ve got one of those and it would mean I could see her lips. It wouldn t keep her so quiet, though. We ll have to see. He looked up when I made that noise. The only sign of him noticing me so far. I d better be careful how I use that. I don t want him to think the gag doesn t work well enough - he could try something worse. Worse than this? Who knows? I ve never been gagged before. This is a new experience one I could have done with out. Where is this in the list of twenty things to do before you re thirty? Never had a boyfriend suggest anything kinky; I never really thought about it either. Do I know if this is bad? Maybe it s just the easiest of gags there could be? Nice hair. That s the good thing about using tape for a gag it doesn t interfere with the hair. She s got lovely hair. Auburn, I guess you d call it. It must be quite long but she always wears it up, with a sort of comb thing at the back. I don t think I ve ever seen it loose. Never mind, perhaps that s something we can do later. Well, what else? I can t really tell what bra she s got on. Mostly she gets them in Marks and she s got a couple of Wonderbra s. I saw her a while back browsing some of the more pricey stuff in one of the department stores. I thought that might have been for a boyfriend but she doesn t seem to have one. I don t think she can really afford expensive underwear, she won t get paid too much in that job she s only doing it until she goes up to college. Of course her breasts are fairly prominent at the moment with her arms tied back like that and the rope around her chest they re bound to be if you ll pardon the pun. It s funny though, in all the stuff I ve read, the victim s nipples are always erect. Her s aren t. I guess that s because she s scared. Maybe when she relaxes more she ll get a bit excited. I d like that. Any way, I m not sure about her bra. I guess I can look later. Now what s he doing? God he s staring at my tits! I suppose it had to be about sex. I don t have any money, neither do mum or dad. I m sure he s tied me like this to make my tits stick out. Pervert. Don t let him know I ve noticed. Thank goodness I didn t wear one of the Wonderbras today. That would have made it worse. Worse than this? How could it be worse than this? I could get killed and I worried about what underwear I m wearing. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Don t let him think you care. Let him look if he wants to. What else are you going to do? I can t see her wrists from here, but they are still tied tight. I must check in a minute to see that her circulation is all right. I think it is though, she s wriggling a bit but not like it s hurting or anything. I can t free my wrists. I ve been working the ropes for a while but I ve made no progress yet. I don t think he s noticed. I m trying to imagine how he s tied them. The ropes aren t too tight, my fingers aren t tingling or anything. I can feel rope right around my wrists though, like rope handcuffs. I can t reach a knot, or at least I haven t been able to yet. What next? Well, I mentioned her skirt. It s quite short and the way she s tied to that chair I can see quite a lot of her thighs. Black tights. Good legs. Some of the girls are too thin, don t you think? She sees me looking at her and tries to wriggle away. More muffled whimpers. I don t see why she s so upset. It s not like I was trying too look up her skirt or anything. Ropes across her lap and around her knees. Her tights are laddered. I guess that happened putting her into the van. It s a shame, it spoils the look of her legs but I suppose it couldn t be helped. I did think about gagging her with her tights and panties. You read a lot about that sort of thing. Well I guess it s a humiliation thing, isn t

it? I didn t want to do that, really. I mean its only so she doesn t make a noise, that s all. And, I m not sure how well it would work. I mean tights are very stretchy so it must be hard to make a good gag that doesn t hurt a lot. And I don t want to hurt her. No, really, that s not in the plan. Now he s looking at my legs. Bastard. Yeah, get a good look. It s easy staring at girls when they re tied up and can t argue with you. Must be sorry he s tied my knees together so he can t see up to my crotch. Bet you wish you could sniff my knickers. Is that your scene? No, I guess this is your scene. And my tights are laddered. That s the third pair this week. As if it mattered. As if anything else mattered right now. The shoes are nice too. Hasn t she got small feet? I like shoes with that strap around the ankle. Of course, you can t really see that well because of the rope. The heels are a bit high, I expect she would have found it difficult to run if she had realised what was happening. I was too quick for her though. That s what s good about having a plan. Now it s my feet. Is he a foot fetishist? No, don t be silly. You don t snatch someone to look at their feet. That d be crazy. What makes you think he isn t crazy? He s just looking me up and down. It s like rape with his eyes. Don t think about rape. Think about getting free. Don t let him think you re a victim. God this rope is tight. I don t think I can move any of it. I ll twist against the chair. Even that s not going to give. It s as stiff as he is. Rigid. Unmoving. God, I m scared. She s struggling more now, trying to pull against the ropes that hold her to the chair. I don t think it will help; it s good rope and tied tightly. The chair is very robust; not antique or anything just well made with a high straight back. I got it in an auction; chose it especially for this. The chair really does work well. See that s the benefit of having a plan. Perhaps I should have tied one ankle to each of the front chair legs. You see that sometimes in pictures. Perhaps there s less chance of her tipping the chair over that way. I hadn t thought of that. This must be about rape, there s nothing else I can think of. How will I cope with that? Look on the bright side he can t rape you while you re tied up like this. If he keeps silent maybe it mightn t be too bad. Oh, who are you kidding? Let me go! Why don t you let me go! Shout it out through the gag. Let him know you haven t given in. Why are you doing this? Let me go! Maybe I can make him respond; make him say something. She really doesn t like me watching her. I thought it would be all right if I just sat here, quiet and still. She s trying to yell more through her gag again but I can t make any sense of what she s saying. She might want a drink, I suppose, or some food or perhaps the toilet. It s hard to tell. I looked through her handbag while she was waking up. I didn t take anything you understand, just looked to see what she had. Well it s just as well I m not a robber. There wasn t much there. There were the keys to her flat and a diary and a purse with fifty pounds in it and one credit card and one cheque card. She had her chequebook as well so perhaps we can shop for some more clothes for her if she doesn t like the one s I ve got for her. Oh yes and her driving license. Oh, I m sorry, her name is Allison Berry. I forgot you weren t introduced. You won t know her, like I do, of course. You really get to know someone when you re working on the plan, you tend to think everyone else knows her too. She also had a mobile phone just a small one. All the girls seem to have them now. It keeps ringing. Lots of times. I ve turned it off now; it was distracting me. How do people put up with them? I can see my handbag on the table. My stuff s all spread out. He didn t even have the good grace to drop that at the scene of the crime to leave a clue. Oh no. He found the condoms. What will that tell him? I m easy? Gagging for it? Definitely asking for it your honour. She was tied to the bed with a yard of cloth down her throat but she had these condoms in her bag, leading my client not unreasonably to think that he could fuck her senseless. Calm down. He probably didn t even notice them. He was just looking for cash. Oh and he was irritated by the phone. It kept ringing. It was probably Sue, I d promised to buy her a drink tonight. Maybe she ll wonder where I was. Maybe

she ll tell somebody, call the police, maybe. No, why should she. I missed her last week and didn t call her for two days. No one will miss me until tomorrow. Work. Nine o clock. No, not even then. What had Mr Jacobs said, Allison, that s the third time you ve missed a day without any warning or a doctor s certificate. Either get back from clubbing in time to get a night s sleep or find another job. He ll just think this I ve thrown another sickie. None of the others in the shop will notice apart from the fact that they ll have to serve more customers. God, could he have been a customer? Someone who s been in the shop? Does it help if I can think who it might be? Only if I get out of this. Only when I get out of this. She got over the drug quite quickly. I expect that her being young has something to do with it. It s difficult to work out how long the effects will last. I suppose it has to do with their weight and fitness and everything. It would have been awful if she d woken up in the back of the van, really frightening for her and much more difficult to get her indoors too. Well I ll remember that for next time. It has to be part of the plan. She s certainly wide-awake now. I think it must be the mask that s upsetting her. I must work out what to do about it. All right, what do I remember about the attack? Not much. I was in the car park. It was late. Well, half past six, late for leaving work. It was dark. Stupid. Why did I go that way? Because it was quicker. Because if I d left at half past five it would still have been light. Think about the attack. Where was I? Near some cars. Ha, ha. It s a car park. What car? A van. Yes, a small van, dark green or dark blue. What sort of van? More like an estate car with no windows. Not as big as a transit we had one of those when I moved into the flat. Smaller than that. Then what happened? Arms around me. Tried to shout. Kicked out as well. Missed. Then the cloth on my face. Some sort of drug. Chloroform?? That s what you always hear about. I don t know. Anyway it put me out. I just remember getting weaker, sliding down. He didn t say anything. I didn t see him. Was it this man? I don t know. Then nothing until I woke up. Here. Like this. With him watching me. Like I say, there wasn t much in her handbag. There were the keys to her flat. I haven t been in there. Perhaps I could look. It would have to be soon before she was missed tonight certainly. Perhaps she wouldn t be so scared if I got some more of her things? Some of her own clothes, perhaps. Maybe some books, though I m not sure if she s much of a reader. I could find if she did buy any of that expensive underwear after all. Then we could dress her up for dinner, in the evenings. I don t know if it would help, though. And it would be risky for me. And I d have to leave her alone. I don t want to leave her alone. It wouldn t be safe. Not safe for her, you understand. He s gone very quiet. He s watching again. What s he looking at now? You can t tell. You can see that he s got eyes behind the mask but you can t really tell where they re looking. You can see there s a mouth but there s no expression. No words, no gestures. Nothing. That s what I need to work on. She hasn t got much jewellery. Just a gold chain around her neck and two gold rings. Oh, earrings too. Her ears are pierced. Twice on each side. She s got a stud in the top piercing and small gold hoops through the lobes. Oh, and the ring in her navel. I suppose she might have other piercings too, I hadn t thought of that. A lot of them do, you know. Well, not her nose or her eyebrow because, obviously, I would have noticed those. And I don t think her nipples are pierced; certainly she isn t wearing anything there now it would notice though that shirt. I suppose her tongue might be pierced can t tell at the moment with all that tape in the way or even her.., you know. Why do they do that? I m not sure if I d like that. Oh, and she may have a tattoo somewhere, I suppose. I don t know if she has; she s always been fairly well covered up when I ve seen her. That s the trouble with winter you don t get a good view. But I don t mind. As long as it s tasteful. So there we are. The plan worked you see. A lot of research; a lot of care; a lot of thought; a lot of preparation. If she knew how much trouble I d taken perhaps she wouldn t be scared. I m sure it s the mask, although its not like its deliberately scary, just a regular ski-mask. But it must be that. I still don t know what to do about it.

So what do I do? Try to go with it, I guess. He must have a plan. This couldn t just be by chance, could it? I think the best for me will be to go along with his plan. He s planned this all well hasn t he? Must be a control freak. Well, freak anyway. Try not to scare him let him think you re going along with his plan. How does that sound? Me, I m sat here helpless and terrified and I think the best thing is not to scare him. Still I think I m right. Let s see how it goes. Go along with his plan. But I guess that s the problem; what to do next? I don t have a plan for the next bit. Freddie Clegg 2006 : No reproduction or reposting without permission. freddie_clegg@yahoo.com
