Juliet should be more sad about Tybalt than Romeo The Nurse doesn t believe in the love that Juliet has The Nurse might not really want them to be together. This confuses Juliet The nurse is too sad Tybalt seems like the kind of person who would get into this fight. She cares more about Tybalt than Romeo Which makes sense because he s a cousin and a member of the family. The love R and J have is not real love. Death, not Romeo, is taking my life The most important part is Juliet s freak-out about Romeo s banishment This shows Juliet s heartlessness, that she doesn t care about Tybalt. Juliet does have mixed feelings about all of this. She should still feel bad about Tybalt. She s shocked in general. It s hard to blame Romeo for losing his temper like this. No, Romeo should have avoided his response. It s like road-rage. Every moment leads up to every other moment; it s hard to choose one quotation.

3 3.3 ROMEO Thou canst not speak of that thou dost not feel: Romeo s ungrateful Not fair to the friar who s been very helpful to R. He s saying that the Friar doesn t understand what he s going through. Romeo s in shock. Friar Lawrence is a father-figure to Romeo. Romeo doesn t see what the friar understands. The friar understands R. and now Romeo is being selfish Romeo s not even listening to the Friar Romeo should just shut up and do as he s told now, he s just being ungrateful. Things will work out. If he really does want to die, is he being ungrateful? He doesn t want to lose Juliet, doesn t want to die. He s overreacting Romeo doesn t know love either it s not real love that he has for Juliet. Yes, the Friar doesn t understand, but his advice is valid. Romeo has so many emotions, and he s taking it out on Friar Lawrence. Both of the lovers are sobbing and wanting to end their lives they re both going through the same thing but nothing good is coming of that. The irony is that Romeo is going to die.

4 3.2 JULIET O serpent heart, hid with a flowering face! Did ever dragon keep so fair a cave? it rhymes the nurse is emphasizing Tybalt s death this is a turning point for the nurse s thinking about Romeo this is changing the way Juliet thinks At first Juliet is angry, and then she changes toward Romeo. Everyone is against R and J being together. Now the Nurse has taken her support away. Juliet changes her thinking, realizing that Romeo is alive and if he didn t kill Tybalt. Serpent hid Juliet s oxymorons She thinks Romeo is false. Did ever dragon keep so fair a cave? Romeo is kind of a fake. This makes Romeo human. I don t blame Romeo for killing Tybalt. Romeo lets his emotions take hold. He just forgot

5 3.3 ROMEO Ha, banishment! be merciful, say 'death;' For Romeo he would rather be dead than banished This sparks Friar Lawrence s rebuke. But the Friar doesn t really understand what Romeo s thinking He would rather die than not see her. I like Romeo s commitment to the relationship. His devotion despite what the Friar says. Romeo is overdramatic I don t agree with Romeo He could run away with Juliet. Why don t they just go to Mantua together. This scene drags on more. The scene is tedious. Romeo wants to be upset to show the love that he has for Juliet. This foreshadows Friar s botched effort to help Romeo when Romeo does accept the Friar s help.
