1 Spoken Language Using Speech to Describe Challenge 1 1 Describe your favourite TV programme to a friend or family member. Tell them about the characters or presenters, the setting, the ideas, what you like about the programme and why it is your favourite. 2 Describe your favourite food to a friend or family member. Tell them the following: Why do you like it? What do you like about the taste? Is it sweet, sour, salty or bitter? Do you eat salad or vegetables with your favourite food? Do you eat your favourite food on special occasions? For example, when it s your birthday or when you are on holiday. 14

Tell them up to five things about the hero before they guess the name of the superhero. 2 Play a drawing game with a friend or family member. Take turns to describe a made-up fantasy animal which the other person has to draw. Think of five things each to say about the way your animal looks. Challenge 3 1 Describe your ideal birthday to a friend or family member: What would you do? Where would you go? If you had a party, what would it be like? What would your birthday cake look like? What would your ideal gifts be? 2 Describe your ideal holiday to a friend or family member. Where would you go? How would you get there? Where would you stay (in a hotel, a tent, a caravan)?
