Gina has selected her favourite songs from the musicals that launched her career, including Cats, Beauty and the Beast and Mamma Mia, along with songs from the movies that helped shaped her as a performer, from The Sound of Music to Oklahoma, My Fair Lady and many more. Gina will share stories from her time in the spotlight along her musical theatre journey and she may even dazzle the audience with some fancy footwork! 6 AFTERNOONS THE LUX RADIO THEATRE presents THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA THE CLASSIC RADIO PLAY COMES TO NEW LIFE ON STAGE Wednesday 11 May, 2pm Before television, the entertainment highlight of the week was the Sunday night radio play. The Lux Radio Theatre recreates those days with distinguished actors playing multiple roles, creating live sound effects and presenting the vintage soap commercials. The intriguing romance of The Phantom of the Opera is based on the 1909 French novel and has fascinated readers for a hundred years. It is the story of a young soprano who becomes the obsession of a disfigured musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opéra House. 14 CHILDREN S INDIGENOUS OPERA SHORT BLACK OPERA FOR KIDS Friday 28 October, 12pm Short Black Opera for Kids is a program designed for Indigneous kids who love to sing, act, tell stories - or all three. With the aim of inspiring confidence, leadership and excellence, Short Black Opera s Artistic Director Deborah Cheetham AO, works with local Indigenous students in grades four to six in a week of intense workshops. Students will work with Ms Cheetham, (a Yorta Yorta soprano, composer and educator) singing, story telling, learning stagecraft and song writing using traditional languages. They will then present a Short Black Opera at BPACC on Friday 28 October at 12pm, including performing a song co-written with Deborah.
