4 LIFE Membership Renewal LIFE membership dues for $150 per member. The membership renewal period : March 14 - April 18, An will be sent to all LIFE members with web-link, and password to complete the renewal process. A valid credit card is required for renewal. Members of the Membership Committee will be at the welcome desk each Tuesday morning to answer questions and help where needed. Checks will not be accepted without special approval. Members not renewed by the deadline will be dropped from membership. Renewals will not be accepted after April 18th, Nametags and parking passes will be distributed beginning the first day of classes, Tuesday, August 19, 2017

13 LIFE at UCF Celebrates the Arts, April 11, 2017 Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Jim and Alexis Pugh Theatre 10:00 Jeffrey Moore, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities. Welcome Address: Notes on the State of the Arts at UCF and in Orlando 10:15-11:00 Claudia Lynch, Assistant Professor of Stage Management. From Script to Stage: How a Theatre Performance is Managed This interactive presentation will introduce the audience to some of the work stage managers do in order to create flawlessly executed performances on Broadway and for our own performance of Oklahoma. 11:00-11:45 Break 12:00-12:55 Once in My LIFE An Intergenerational Performance The intergenerational performance features memories and life stories collected from LIFE participants and UCF students. The project is the result of ten months of group meetings and rehearsals. The performance is based on a script devised from participants recorded life stories and further developed in group rehearsals over several months. Director: Elizabeth Brendel Horn; Technical Direction: Amanda Hill; Musical Direction: James Brown; Story Consultant: Natalie Underberg-Goode; Project Management: Claudia Schippert. The project was supported financially, in part, by a grant from the Learning Institute of Elders at UCF.

16 Life operates on the efforts of our volunteers. Through their volunteer work LIFE is able to keep our membership fees low and yet enable us to provide significant financial support to the university s faculty and students, and promote gerontology research through our Grant programs. We need more members to step up and join this great team. Please consider volunteering to serve on our board of directors or one of our many committees. Special assistants also do not need to be board members. Below is a list of the many areas you can serve: LIFE Board: 18 members, 6 new elected every year. term limits apply. LIFE Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Officers are elected annually by the board. Officers must be a board member. COMMITTEES: Curriculum, Special Events, Grant and Awards, Gerontology Research Grants, Technical Support, Honors program. SPECIAL ASSISTANTS: LIFE Newsletter, Safety, Webmaster, Veterans Oral History Program, Diversity.
