Our licensing helps us continue our outreach throughout the United States and allows us to selectively offer lower rates and free screenings to much-needed communities throughout the year. To host a public screening of Break the Chain for your community, we ask that you review our guide, choose the most feasible option for your event, and submit a Screening Application Form via our breakthechainfilm.com/screening-application.html If you are interested in hosting a screening, but find the copyright fee out of your budget, please mention the nature of your situation within your application. Break the Chain also partners with public schools, law enforcement, healthcare professionals and other nonprofits to provide customized education initiatives. COSTS: $150 Standard License Fee INCLUDES: 1 Standard License to screen the film publicly, 1 Blu-Ray DVD and/or.mp4 Downloaded copy of Break the Chain, 1 Screening Promotional Package for Advertising Note: Screening Hosts are able to screen the film as many times as they d like within their own communities after paying the initial Copyright Licensing Fee. Rules and regulations apply to additional screenings and will be stated within the Standard Public Licensing Agreement given to the host upon licensing approval. Private Group Trainings are an invaluable educational resource for your members and employees. Unlike public screenings, we waive our standard licensing fee because we believe these trainings are imperative to the human trafficking movement. The program is designed to inform and empower students by offering two types of educational sessions: 1-HOUR SESSION: Opens with a short screening of the Break the Chain film trailer followed by an educational presentation and a short Q&A with students 2-HOUR SESSION: Involves a full screening of the Break the Chain film followed by an educational presentation and a short Q&A with students (* Highly Recommended) COSTS: 1 Hour Session - Instructor Mileage/Hours 2 Hour Session - $50 High School Copyright License Fee + Instructor Mileage/Hours For more information on our Public School Program visit breakthechainfilm.com/high-school-program.html

8 Appropriate Screening Audiences It s not only important, it is imperative to get information surrounding this issue out to our youth. We have screened Break the Chain with children as young as 10 years of age in girl scout troops, middle school and high school classrooms. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive and the interest to learn about this issue is there! Please consider including our youth when setting up screenings and engaging in community outreach. When children are empowered and given access to this information, they are less likely to be susceptible to human trafficking.

SWANSON is a documentary filmmaker, professional speaker, sexual assault survivor/advocate, and human rights activist currently residing in Michigan. Her work is heavily rooted in building awareness for important, yet misrepresented, issues of social justice using a non-sensationalized and victim-centered artistic approach. Break the Chain is her second feature-length documentary film and has been independently produced and directed with the help of Michigan-based taskforce agencies, law enforcement, and non-profit organizations.

All four of these formats guarantee higher quality and higher resolution for your audience. Depending on your screening location and equipment, we can provide you with the one that works best for you. EVENT DATE AND TIME Your chosen event date and time will be highly dependent on your venue. Weekdays are usually the easiest to book venues and the cost is significantly lower than that of weekends. We suggest a Tuesday or Thursday night after 5pm for the best weekday attendance. Consider having your screening event during a month or week of relevance such as Human Trafficking Awareness Month or Human Rights Awareness week.

11 HOW TO HAVE YOUR BEST SCREENING EVENT Location There are numerous opportunities for film screening locations: local school auditoriums, faith-based institutions, universities, and community centers are great places to look for sponsored spaces. If you re looking for a more-upscale and exciting event, ask your local movie theatre if they have the ability to rent out one of their theatres. The most successful screening locations are centrally located and can accommodate large audiences and people with disabilities. For individuals that may not have access to transportation, consider having a screening location along a public bus route.

12 HOW TO HAVE YOUR BEST SCREENING EVENT Marketing and Outreach WE SUGGEST BETWEEN 4-6 WEEKS OF SOLID MARKETING TIME FOR A GOOD TURN-OUT. Partner with other local organizations and businesses to expand your outreach capabilities. The highest turnouts have come from screenings where the hosts partnered with 2 or more organizations. TICKETING: even if your event is free of charge, consider using Eventbrite or another ticketing service to keep track of your audience. You can also entice people to buy tickets early with offering premiere seating. Generally, for free community events, around 50% of people will not show. Consider offering 100 seats to the public if you only have 50. PRESS RELEASE: we highly recommend issuing a press release to your local news outlets and community calendars to spread the word. Director Laura E. Swanson, Kirk Mason and the survivors are also available for news interviews to help spread the word! SOCIAL MEDIA: In addition to spreading the word on your organization s social media pages, please send Break the Chain a copy of all your promotional materials so that we can share them via our website and Facebook.

One of the easiest things you can do is provide Popcorn and Soda so audiences get the full movie-going experience. SCREENING TEST: We suggest testing the film format prior to the day of screening. This will ensure no embarrassing tech issues and/or running over-time. DISCUSSION PANEL & Q&A: Invite your local community organizations involved in Human Trafficking efforts to speak on a discussion panel after the screening. This is also known to boost audience attendance, as people tend to have many questions after the film and prefer to hear from their local representatives and the film s Director. POST PHOTOS: Take flattering photos of the event and post them to social media as the event is happening. Break the Chain will certainly share them!
