2 Patio is Proud to Present Our 45th Season of Outstanding Community Theatre Aug 5 th 27 th 2011 Patio s Classic 2011 Plays in the Park Production at Kit Carson Park Amphitheatre directed by Richard Brousil and Mary Bright The final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Sound of Music was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. When Maria, a postulant, proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. The score includes "Do Re Mi," "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things," and the title tune. Sept 16 th Oct 9 th 2011 directed by Jim Clevenger This American play written by Neil Labute is a dark comedy which provides insight and social commentary on society's prejudice against those who are overweight, obsession with body image, and the pressure exerted on unconventional love. It is a contemporary play and quite realistic, relaying problems that are commonly encountered by ordinary people. Patio Playhouse is located at 201 E. Grand Avenue, Escondido, California. Their father is away serving as a chaplain in the Civil War, and the sisters struggle to support themselves and keep their household running despite the fact that the family recently lost its fortune. Little Women is a story of courage in adversity, and of the triumph of family love. Mar 2 nd 25 th 2012 directed by Rob Wolter In this Larry Shue comedy, Willum, an aspiring young architect, has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick, a fellow ex-gi who he has never met, but who saved his life in Vietnam. Willum is delighted when Rick shows up at his house the night of his 34th birthday party. However, his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless nerd with no social sense and even less tact. The aging King of Britain determines to split his domain evenly between his three daughters. In the process he foolishly alienates his only truly devoted daughter and realizes too late the true nature of the other two. Shakespeare s careful crafting of the characters clearly defines their human natures as being good or evil.

4 ooo A little about Patio. Patio Playhouse was incorporated in November of 1967 to establish a theatre group for theatrical arts education and presentation. For over 45 years, we've been building a community of playgoers and participants by providing affordable, quality entertainment and opportunities for people to take part in the production of award-winning shows. We provide a venue where people from school age to seniors can participate in live drama, learn new skills, and enrich the quality of life in the community. Our Youtheatre was established in 1982 and our motto is Theatre For And By Children. We want to keep participation affordable and open to all in the community so, unlike some other theatres, we don't require audition or performance fees. We are the only Youtheatre in San Diego County that doesn t charge a fee to our participants. We have no salaried employees. All aspects of productions and theatrical management are performed by volunteers. We're a federally chartered, non-profit corporation supported solely by tax-deductible donations, membership dues and box office receipts. Staged Readings/Workshop Productions Season ticket holders get free admission to any 2 of these productions We are finalizing the dates and details of our 45th season special performances. These entertaining shows are produced throughout the season to provide an opportunity to experience new things at Patio. Season ticket holders will get to select any 2 of these special productions and be admitted at no additional charge. Details of these performances will be available soon. This holiday musical tells the story of a Jewish brother and sister who journey west from New York on an Orphan Train in 1905 to a tiny Nebraska town, Wellspring, as the town is preparing for Christmas and Hanukkah is approaching. The details of our second fun-filled and exciting Youtheatre production will be announced soon.
