2 In more than fifty years of existence, the Joffrey Ballet School has remained on the forefront of American dance education. Students learn from established master teachers as well as artists and choreographers at the cutting edge of today s dance profession. Graduates of the School have gone on to dance for major classical ballet companies, as well as for numerous modern and contemporary companies, both in the United States and abroad. The Joffrey Ballet School is the only ballet school that offers a well-rounded dance curriculum that includes serious training in both classical and contemporary ballet, as well as modern, character, improvisation, choreography, dance history, anatomy, nutrition, music, Pilates and yoga. Auditions and Registration Acceptance to all of our summer programs is by audition only at one of our audition locations or by our Digital Video Submission. 3 Feed your obsession at one of our JAZZ & CONTEMPORARY Summer Intensives NEW YORK CITY New York City (Ages 10 25) July 28 to August 17, 2013 (1-3 week sessions) Since its inception years ago, the Joffrey Ballet School s have been at the forefront of providing students with the widest range of techniques and most consistent training for them to utilize as working artists in the dance world. The programs offer different styles of jazz, innovative and cutting edge contemporary dance techniques, and classical dance instruction. During our intensives, the students work with dancers and company artists from around the world and learn progressive techniques to keep them ahead of the curve. JOFFREY SOUTH - GEORGIA Georgia College, Milledgeville (Ages 10 to 16) June 30 to July 13, 2013 (1-3 week sessions) This Joffrey Ballet School Georgia South Jazz & Contemporary Intensive is an extension of the professional quality offered in NYC. This Georgia South intensive enables the student to experience an individual student approach by helping the student understand the importance of picking up contemporary choreography. The objective is to educate the student on paying attention to detail, technique, movement and style. The intensive also provides a safe, enabling and enjoyable environment to facilitate the student s growth in contemporary movement. The students are allowed to then test their skills in a final performance. JOFFREY WEST - LOS ANGELES Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary Program California State University, Northridge (Ages 10 to 25) June 17 to July 26, 2013 (1-6 week sessions) The intensive in Los Angeles with our master instructors, featuring Mia Michaels (of So You Think You Can Dance fame), which culminates in a red carpet performance at the Valley Performing Arts Center, Cal State Northridge. Morning classes focus on ballet, consisting of technique, pointe, variations, and partnering. Afternoon classes consist of modern, contemporary dance, nutrition, and conditioning classes. Mia Michaels will be instructing all levels of the intensive s performance sessions and choreographing for the production. MIAMI Florida Memorial University (Ages 10 to 25) July 7 to Aug 3, 2013 (1-4 week sessions) This intensive focuses on jazz, contemporary and modern dance forms culminating in a professionally produced theater performance. Classes also include ballet technique (both classical and contemporary), hip hop, pilates and yoga. Housing and Meals All of our programs offer housing in modern dormitories in safe neighborhoods or university campuses. Our staff supervises the students in the facilities. Optional meal plans are offered at all locations. Students may apply to be exempt from our housing facilities and commute if they prefer.

Otherwise you can register in person one hour before the beginning of the audition. We ONLY accept cash payments, no credit cards or checks. What to bring to the audition Students auditioning for a ballet program, please bring a 5 x 7 picture in 1st arabesque to the audition. Please wear tights, ballet shoes and a leotard of any color. Students on pointe should bring their pointe shoes. Boys wear black tights and a white or black t-shirt. Students auditioning for a jazz and contemporary program, please bring a 5 x 7 picture of the student jumping with your face visible to the audition. Please wear a leotard and either tights or shorts, and bring both ballet and jazz shoes or sneakers. Digital Video Submissions We accept digital video auditions for all programs.
