2 Mission & Impact Statements Mission The Roxy Regional Theatre attracts, motivates, entertains and challenges audiences with theatrical productions ranging from the classics to new works. Furthermore, it trains and supports the next generation of theatre artists; provides educational programming, and promotes a wide range of learning to a diverse community. The Roxy Regional Theatre celebrates the importance and the impact theatre has on the citizens of Clarksville- Montgomery County and Middle Tennessee. Background From our founding in 1983, Roxy Productions, Inc., has been dedicated to producing theatre meeting the highest artistic standards, first as a community theatre and then as a professional regional theatre, presenting over 500 mainstage productions in our 153-seat auditorium and 75 alternative stage productions in our 50-seat black box theatre, theotherspace, since the organization's inception. Clarksville's oldest and only professional live theatre, housed in a converted 1947 movie house, the Roxy Regional Theatre has achieved a national reputation over the past three decades by producing world and American premieres in addition to classics, Shakespeare, dramas and musicals.since 1985, we have been enriching, enlivening and enlightening students through reduced-rate weekday matinees of productions designed to complement the curricula of K-12 schools, giving area students the opportunity to see their favorite literary characters come to life upon the stage.in addition to our live theatre programming, the Roxy introduces hundreds of youth to the art of performance through our School of the Arts acting program on Saturday mornings during the school year and our Parks & Rec Summer Playhouse during the summer months.in the fall of 2016, the Roxy Regional Theatre welcomed the return of film to the location for the first time in over three decades during our weekly Sunday afternoon film series, and we also began offering outside performers and users the opportunity to rent and use the space for everything from birthday parties and weddings to conferences and outside performances.in tandem with our performing arts offerings, the visual arts are showcased in our Peg Harvill Art Gallery, which gives voice to numerous local artists in twelve shows annually. As the artwork changes for each production, the audience and other visitors are exposed to a variety of artistic styles, as well as artwork created specifically to accompany a production. 2

3 Impact ROXY REGIONAL THEATRE: SEASON 37As one of the most highly respected regional theatres, the Roxy Regional Theatre is currently celebrating 36 years of producing live theatre on the corner of Franklin and First in downtown Clarksville and is poised to enter our 37th season, with a diverse range of shows planned for the upcoming season on the mainstage of our 153-seat converted movie house theatre and in theotherspace, our 50-seat black box theatre located upstairs in the old balcony space. STUDENT SERIES Since 1985, the Roxy Regional Theatre has been enriching, enlivening and enlightening students through reduced-rateweekday matinees of productions designed to complement the curricula of K-12 schools. Through our programming inclassical literature, popular musicals and plays, elementary, middle and high school students are given the opportunity tosee their favorite literary characters come to life upon the Roxy stage. Productions in our Student Series have included HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, Aristophanes' LYSISTRATA, Meredith Willson's MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, E.B. White's CHARLOTTE'S WEB, Harper Lee's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and David Adjmi's MARIE ANTOINETTE, among others. During the upcoming school year, we plan to continue serving our Tennessee schools of Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner and Stewart counties, as well as those in Christian, Logan, Todd and Trigg counties and Fort Campbell in nearby Kentucky. SCHOOL OF THE ARTS / PARKS & REC SUMMER PLAYHOUSEIn addition to our live theatre programming, we offer additional educational opportunities for youth during the school year and in the summer months.the Roxy Regional School of the Arts, with annual enrollment averaging sixty, is held on Saturday mornings during the school year. From 9:00am to 12:30pm, instructors Ryan Bowie, Koryn Weiman and guest professional actors lead youth ages 10 to 18, as well as CMCSS transitional students, through lessons in Theatre History, Movement & Dance, Technical Theatre, Voice, Acting, Improvisation and Audition Techniques. The Spring 2019 session is focused on a full musical production of Disney's Alice in Wonderland, Jr., which students will present on the mainstage during May/June 2019, and the Fall 2019 session will culminate in a free showcase for family and friends on the final day.during the summer months, this acting program is extended through a cooperative venture with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, a sixweek summer drama workshop for ages 9 to 18. Participants in the Parks & Rec Summer Playhouse learn basic acting techniques, improvisational skills and stage movement, culminating in a free performance for family and friends on the final day of the program. FILM SERIES Beyond our live performance offerings, we recently welcomed the return of film to the Roxy Regional Theatre for the first time in over three decades. Sponsored by Planters Bank, with additional support provided by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts & Heritage Development Council, our Planters Bank Presents... film series features vintage flicks and modern classics, presented on Sunday afternoons in our 153-seat auditorium for a $5 ticket price. Films presented this past fall and slated for the spring have included The Wizard of Oz, It's A Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Mary Poppins, Toy Story, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Beauty and the Beast, Citizen Kane and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, among others. While response has already been very positive with a number of sold-out showings since we began the film series, we hope to reach even more in the community with our film season, especially families and those on fixed incomes who are looking for inexpensive entertainment options.
