3 I love shooting in Toronto as evidenced by the fact I ve been involved with four films here; three as a producer (The Hurricane, Dawn Of The Dead and The Thing) and one as director (Flash Of Genius). It s a city that welcomes filmmakers and has truly nurtured an artistic climate. The talent base, especially in terms of crew, is as good as it gets. MARC ABRAHAM, Producer The Thing, Universal Studios The Thing Ontario Film Commission services are second to none. And we re not the only ones saying it. I m delighted to say that the efforts of the Film Commission were key in securing the decision to shoot Red in Toronto. The presence of a pro-active and supportive Film Commission that seeks to bring work and economic benefit to the city was instrumental in assuring us that Toronto was the best home for our film. JAKE MYERS, Producer of Summit Entertainment s Red Red

6 Ontario has a proven track record of doing it right. Decades of experience, a quality infrastructure and reliable tax credits will save you time and money. The Borgias FINANCIAL ADVANTAGES Ontario s 25% services tax credit for eligible film and television productions, the Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC), has recently been expanded beyond labour to include other eligible Ontario production expenditures. The federal government also offers an additional tax credit of 16% (for service productions) The tax credit for domestic productions, the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (OFTTC) continues to also be very attractive for both domestic and co-productions providing a 35% tax credit on eligible Ontario labour expenditures with an additional 10% regional bonus. The federal government also offers 25% (for domestic productions) on your Canadian labour costs. The Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit (OCASE) of 20% for eligible labour on VFX and animation activities in Ontario including on-set labour costs for green screen shooting. Toronto and Ontario are still the envy of many cities and states. Great expertise, the breadth of production options and consistent tax credits make the difference. J. MILES DALE, Producer Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Scott Pilgrim vs. The World For service production, these add up to: Up to 37% (net) tax incentive on eligible labour (Federal & provincial combined) plus 25% on your eligible Ontario spend including all Post plus 20% additional for eligible labour on VFX and green screen work that stacks on top of the other credits All this, with no surprises and the certainty you need, including NO caps and NO limits on the number of productions we support. Detailed information on tax credits and eligibility requirements can be found on our website...
7 Ontario VFX, Animation Post production and 3D Because the Ontario service tax credit now applies to your entire eligible post work, don t just think of us as a place to shoot. The following productions are just a sampling of the many film and TV projects that have chosen Toronto and Ontario s world-class post production facilities for all of their post work: Barney s Version Book of Eli The Borgias A Dangerous Method The Firm The Grey The Kennedy s The LA Complex Resident Evil: Afterlife Titanic: the Mini-Series Unnatural History The War of 1812 Ontario is also home to innovative Visual Effects and Animation facilities, providing world-class creativity. Add to that, the stackable flexibility of our tax credits applied to shoots in Ontario and around the globe, and your production value brought to screen can increase dramatically. Your savings can also apply to Post work brought to a regional facility. For shot-in-ontario projects, the credit on eligible labour can reach over 53% for the on-set green screen portion of your shoot, plus 25% of eligible spend. Ontario should also be top of mind for your next 3DS production with local companies providing leading edge expertise in equipment and post-production services, along with access to fully trained crews. Recently shot in Ontario 3D productions include Saw 7 3D, Resident Evil: Restitution and Dead Before Dawn 3D.
