2 Dear Dancer, Houston Dance Factory will be having auditions for the new Houston Dance Factory Company Team Saturday November 2, Times for teams are listed below. The Houston Dance Factory Company is competitive dance teams that will perform at local and nonlocal competitions. There are 2 teams: Red Crew for Hip-Hop dancers and Silver Techs for Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz dancers. This Company is for elite dancers who want to train at a more advance, competitive and pre-professional/ professional level. Dancers have the opportunity to audition for both teams but will be only selected for best fit. Audition Requirements Must be ages 8 17 to audition for either team. Must audition in person. Auditions are closed, No visitors or parents may watch. Must remain in designated waiting area. I suggest arriving 30 minutes early to your scheduled audition to complete registration, receive audition number, stretch and warm-up. You will have a 5 minute grace period to enter the auditioning room otherwise you will be considered late and will not be allowed to audition. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO gum, NO jewelry. Hair must be secured in bun or pony tail. Bangs must be secured out of face. $20 auditioning fee for each audition must be paid before entering auditioning room, NO checks. Silver Techs candidates will audition from 11am-1pm. Red Crew candidates will audition from 1pm-3pm. Candidates must wear all black and bring 2 safety pins for audition number. Auditions will begin with Silver Techs from 11am-1pm. At exactly 11am Silver Techs candidates will perform a series of technique skills across the floor and also learn a small contemporary combination for auditioning. At 12pm dancers will perform in groups of 3-4 randomly selected. Silver Tech Requirements Black leotard or fitted black top. Tights or jazz pants. Hot shorts must be worn with tights Black jazz shoes or foot undies are permitted. Right, left and middle splits Triple or clean double pirouette Axle Left and Right Grand Jete` (straight leap) Straddle leap

3 Left and Right leg extension Switch leaps A La Seconde fouette`s into double pirouette Tour jete` During the audition candidates will have 30 seconds of improvisation to showcase their best dance style, acro tricks, turn or leap sequence. This is your chance to show your personality and talents. After you are done auditioning your welcome to leave the studio or prepare for the Red Crew auditions. Red Crew auditions will being at 1pm. I suggest arriving 30 minutes prior to register. Candidates will learn a hip-hop combination to perform for auditions. At 2pm dancers will perform in groups of 3-5. Red Crew Requirements Black top with black pants or shorts, non-skid tennis shoes. NO jeans or hats. Energy Precision Strength Flexibility Toe touch Popping Footwork Personality During the audition candidates will have 30 seconds of improvisation to showcase their best dance style, acro tricks or break dancing. Tips for a successful audition: Be on time! Show off your discipline, motivation, enthusiasm, responsibility and determination. My first impression of you will be affected by how well you follow all directions and your attitude. Practice smiling!!! Work on showmanship and energy. Begin stretching and taking classes now so you are not as sore during auditions. Never try splits or advanced moves until you have warmed up your body. I am so pleased that you have an interest in auditioning for the Houston Dance Factory Company Team! There are a few items I want to be sure are clear before you come in on Saturday November 2, Please read each item carefully. This is NOT a class. It is a competitive TEAM. Dancers will be exposed to various rewarding opportunities.

4 If your dancer(s) are selected for either team commitment, teamwork and responsibility are important. Along with competitions there are intensive workshops and camps that dancers must attend. Membership will be from November August. Every dancer must audition again to be a part of the team. There is NO set number of dancers accepted for Silver Techs or Red Crew. Scores are final. Results will be posted same day at 4pm by audition number not name. You will then have until 6pm to pick-up your official Silver Techs or Red Crew packet. Practice will begin November 9, Please remember your audition starts the moment you walk into the auditioning room. If you do not make the team at this time, please consider working hard on your dance skills, taking classes we recommend specifically for you with our Houston Dance Factory instructors and trying out again next year in November 2014! Last page is a dance application form that you may complete and bring with you on audition day to make your process faster or you can register same day.
