The Standard Bank Studio is a music venue made from the choir stalls and the stage of the Cape Town City Hall Auditorium. It feels like an indoor amphitheatre with the audience looking down onto the performers. There is a straight ground support truss behind the stage for lighting and to hang black drapes to mask off the rest of the City Hall Auditorium. There will be some side masking using draping stands to create wings. Page 1 of 4

2 LIGHTING The venue will have a full music venue lighting rig with colour changing capabilities to create mood compliment the music. Cape Town Fringe does not provide companies with data projectors, screens, etc. If you require any assistance with sourcing any of the latter equipment please consult the Technical Office. Any practical electrical equipment you intend to use should be SABS approved and electrically safe and Cape Town Fringe reserves the right to refuse usage of equipment which fails a visual and electrical insulation test. It is not possible to fly or hang scenery. FLYING AND RIGGING SOUND There will be a high quality PA with sub-bass and monitors, digital desk and basic backline (Drum Kit, Bass Amp, Guitar Amp). Please complete the Sound Questionnaire detailing you exact requirements. TECHNICAL STAFF There will be a sound engineer and a lighting technician to make your show run as smooth as possible. FRONT OF HOUSE Tickets will be sold from the main box office downstairs on Level 1 of the City Hall until the start of your performance. The audience will be allowed into the venue 10 minutes prior to curtain-up. Please ensure that your performers and crew arrive at least an hour before the show and are ready to start the performance at the advertised start time. GENERAL INFORMATION Please fill out the Sound Questionnaire and return it to the Technical Office as soon as possible. If the information you submit changes once you are in rehearsals please advise the Technical Office. We want to assist you as much as possible to make the technical aspect of your performance run as smoothly as possible and the more information we have the easier this will be. Each group is assigned a sound check slot of 2 hours prior to their first performance. This time should be used to load in your instruments and equipment, do your stage set-up and do a full soundcheck. Please use this time wisely; arrive prepared and on time for your soundcheck. If you cannot attend the soundcheck slot that the Fringe Office has given you, please contact the office to arrange an alternative slot. Please take note that due to the nature of the Festival Venues no floor or wall fixings are permitted in any of the venues. Smoking is not permitted in any festival venue. Be vigilant in safekeeping your personal belongings. Cape Town Fringe can take no responsibility for loss or damage to equipment, instruments, props, costumes or any other items in Festival Venues.
