1 Summer Camps 2017 Introduction to Theater Camp: June 19 - June 23, 2017 Camp Director: Sorsha Anderson Ages: 6-8 Cost: $200 for theater program only; $290 including after care 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. After care until 4:00 p.m. available Introduce your young student to the wonderful world of theater with fun and exciting theater games. This camp will focus on creative movement, vocal production, and the basics of character creation. The theater program will run from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. each morning with the option to stay for the afternoon until 4:00 p.m. Afternoon activities will include games, arts and crafts, and trips to the Barre Pool! Minimum registration of 10 students for this session to run. Musical Theater Workshop: June 26- June 30, 2017 Camp Director: Sorsha Anderson Ages: 7-14 Cost: $290 Musical Director: Dan Bruce 8:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Allow your theater student to immerse him/herself in all aspects of musical theater performance. Campers will explore choreography, musical theater presentation and vocal production as they participate in one large group number and small group numbers. Selections are staged and coached by Sorsha Anderson and are adapted to each student's current level of experience. Beginners welcome! Musical direction and individual voice lessons by Dan Bruce (younger campers may have small group voice lessons). At 5:00 p.m. on the last day of camp students will take part in a low-stress presentation for families. Disney s The Lion King, Jr. : July 10- July 22, 2017 Camp Director: Sorsha Anderson Ages: Cost: $580 Musical Director: Dan Bruce 8:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Choreography: Amia Cervantes Become part of the journey as Simba and friends make their way back to Pride Rock. Direction by Sorsha Anderson. Musical Direction by Dan Bruce. Choreography by Amia Cervantes. Auditions are held the first day of camp. Everyone who registers will be in the show, however, slots are limited and fill up quickly. The first week of camp will take place at Contemporary Dance & Fitness in Montpelier, the second week of camp will take place at the Barre Opera House. Scene Work: August 14 August 18 Camp Director: Sorsha Anderson Ages: 9-13 Cost: $290 8:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. This camp is open to theater students ready to take the next steps in character development. Students will explore theater dynamics with small scenes, monologues, and poems. At 5:00 p.m. on the last day of camp students will take part in a low-stress presentation for families. Minimum registration of 10 students for this camp to run. 1

2 Financial Aid Information The Barre Opera House strives to make summer camps accessible for children of all backgrounds and offer scholarships to as may families and students that we can. Scholarships are limited - based on a sliding fee schedule - on a first come first served basis. Please note that we are only able to offer one week of scholarship per child. Scholarships are not guaranteed, and require prior approval by the Barre Opera House staff. We request that financial aid applicants provide proof of income with this application pages 1 and 2 of your most recent 1040 federal tax return or combined family W-2 s. See Sliding Fee Schedule on page 8 for scholarship income guidelines. 2
