Most of the audition will be workshop style to see how we all work together. Please be familiar with the audition scenes (included in this audition notice) in preparation. Please note that you may be asked to read for another character during the audition. Remember we re looking for people full of energy with loud and clear voice and who have really thought about the text. You could think about the characters, their feelings and thoughts in the scene. What happens next? Parents will be contacted by by Monday September 26 th with details of whether you have been cast to take part in the production. Please note that it is not possible for everyone who auditions to be offered a part. Cast members will be chosen based on suitability for these particular roles. It s important to know that if you don t get a part this time, you can always audition for a future production. PRODUCTION COMMITMENT Once you become a part of The Jungle Book cast, the hard work doesn t stop there. It will be very important that you stay committed to the production throughout the rehearsal and performance period. Below are details about the production commitment: When is the first rehearsal? We will hold a cast read through on Tuesday September 27 th. The evening will be structured as follows: 6:00pm 7:30pm: The whole cast comes together for a read through of the script. A rehearsal schedule will then be sent to parents every week by detailing who will need to attend each rehearsal. When will I be rehearsing? This depends upon the rehearsal schedule sent every two weeks and which group you are in. You should be prepared to rehearse on two or more of the days below. It is not common for every child to attend all rehearsals in the same week but you should prepare to come along to each one and be able to work with the schedule. Rehearsals will take place at the Faust Studio in Sheung Wan or at other Central venues. The exact venue will be specified on your rehearsal schedule. Small group rehearsals (as called): Tuesday 6:00pm 8:00pm Thursday 5.30pm 7:30pm Weekly full cast rehearsals: Saturday 2.00pm 6.00pm Friday 5.30pm 7:30pm
3 Do I need to attend every rehearsal that I m called for? Yes! Every cast member is vital to the success of the show and all actors must attend every rehearsal as called. What happens during production week? During production week, the week of the performances in December, you will be called to rehearsals and performances at the HK Jockey Club Amphitheatre at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. All cast members must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances during production week and permission will be sought from schools for you to attend. You will be at the theatre for: Technical & Dress Rehearsals: Tuesday November 29 th & Wednesday November 30 th Performances (with a call time two hours before): Thursday December 1 st (10.00am and 7:30pm) Friday December 2 nd (10.00am and 7.30pm) Saturday December 3 rd (2:30pm and 7.30pm) What should I think about before I commit? You should check your availability for the above dates before auditioning. It s so important that everyone, no matter what their part is, attends all the rehearsals they are called for. Before you come along to the audition, check that you can fully commit yourself so that this is the main activity you ll be focusing on through to December. If the show isn t right for you this time, there will be other opportunities in the future. We want cast members to attend all rehearsals with energy, enthusiasm, patience and a huge smile. If you think you can commit to being part of this very exciting show, we can t wait to receive your completed audition form by Monday September 19 th. BALOO Those nut-stealers have stolen out man-cub KAA I heard a man-cub was living with the wolf pack, but I didn't believe it. BALOO He s the best and smartest and boldest of man-cubs and I we love him, Kaa. KAA Ts! Ts! I ve also known what love is. (Kaa tries to hypnotize Bagheera and Baloo with her words.)
