4 IRENE ADJAN (Ensemble) This is Irene s fifth go-round in Summer Shorts. She is an 11-time Carbonell award nominee and has won the award three times for Funny Girl, Joseph, and Blood Brothers. She has also been seen here at the Arsht Center in Assassins and Moscow for Zoetic Stage. Other credits include See Jane Run (Actors Playhouse), Dr. Radio (Florida Stage), Benefactors and Smell of the Kill (Palm Beach Dramaworks), Talk Radio (Mosaic), Next Fall (Caldwell), In The Next Room, Adding Machine and The Dead (GableStage), among others. She is also the Chair of the South Florida Equity Liaison Committee. ELIZABETH DIMON (Ensemble) Having just closed her own cabaret show at the Plaza Theatre and Dividing the Estate at Palm Beach Dramaworks, Elizabeth returns for her 8th Summer Shorts season for City Theatre. Credits include 24 years of Florida Theatre as member of Actors Equity from Key West to Vero Beach and St. Pete to Naples including: Actors Playhouse, GableStage, Key West Theatre Festival, Mosaic, Caldwell, Florida Stage, Maltz Jupiter, Riverside, American Stage, Asolo, Royal Palm DT, Gulfshore Playhouse, Theatre Zone, Theatre West and Arts Garage. She is a multiple Carbonell nominee and a 3 time winner and a recipient of the 2010 Frank Prize. NIKI FRIDH (Ensemble) Niki is thrilled to be joining City Theatre this summer! Last year she performed in the Silver Palm Award winning production of Shorts Gone Wild with City Theatre and Island City Stage. Niki has worked for numerous regional theatres and some past credits include: Hot Dog and Pool (No Water) (Thinking Cap Theatre), Secrets of the Trade (Island City Stage), Extended Stay (The Project [Theatre]), Exit, Pursued By a Bear (The Theatre at Arts Garage); multiple shows at Broward Stage Door, including Jeffrey and the Carbonell winning production of Rumors. Niki is also a founding member of Mangrove Creative Collective and appeared in their inaugural production of Paradise Motel. Niki thanks everyone at City Theatre for this great opportunity, her incredibly talented cast and crew, and her husband Matt for being the best partner in life that she could have ever imagined. MCLEY LAFRANCE (Director/Ensemble) is Haitian-American and received his BFA from Barry University. He is the Assistant Artistic Director of City Theatre and Resident Director of Shorts 4 Kids. He is a poet, actor, director, and hip-hop/rap artist. His directing credits include The Colored Museum (Barry University), Remembering Love (New Theatre) and A Tall Order (City Theatre). His acting credits include Ollie in Brothers of the Dust (The M Ensemble), Bobo in A Raisin in the Sun (Palm Beach Dramaworks) and Simon in the Carbonell award winning play Ruined (GableStage). He thanks God and his family for all of their love and support. DAVID PEREZ-RIBADA (Ensemble) is excited to finally be joining the cast of Summer Shorts with City Theatre. A proud member of Actors' Equity, David has been seen at Actors Playhouse, New Theatre, GableStage, The Naked Stage, The Caldwell, Mosaic, Promethean, Juggerknot, Florida Stage, The Coconut Grove Playhouse, The Roxy Theatre Group, The New Vista, The Public, Florida Studio Theatre, and The Playground. The last few years he has been branching out with directing children at Broadway Kids Studio and at St. Gregory Catholic School. MARY SANSONE (Ensemble) Mary received her BFA from Barry University. She s the Creative Consultant for City Theatre s Shorts 4 Kids educational outreach program and has contributed as an actor and playwright. Her short play Wrigleys was a finalist for City Theatre s National Award for Short Playwriting 13. Her credits include Clara in The Nutcracker (The House Theatre of Chicago), the World Premiere of Camp Kappawanna (City Theatre), A Shayna Maidel, The Immigrant, Brighton Beach Memoirs, and the Last Night of Ballyhoo (Broward Stage Door). Mary sends her love and gratitude to her supportive family and friends. TOM WAHL (Ensemble) is thrilled to be back with City Theatre. Film and T.V. credits include Pointman with Jack Scalia, Plato s Run with Roy Scheider, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective with Jim Carey, Extra Large (Italy), Night Screams (Netherlands), Big City Blues and recurring guest star as Hunt Pelham on ABC s Moon Over Miami. Tom is a proud union member of Actors Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA. SHAYLA DURANT (Dancer) has performed with MAD Dance Miami, the A&M Dance Ensemble and Dance Now Miami. She will be attending the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive with a scholarship and has been offered a dance scholarship from New World School of the Arts, where she will be attending in the fall. RICARDO DUME (Dancer) is a graduate of New World School of Arts, earning a BFA in Dance, where he studied under the direction of some of the top teachers and choreographers. Ricardo has taught dance in the local Miami community for many years now. He has also traveled across America touring with premier dance companies such as The Atlanta Dance Connection and the Peter London Global Dance Theater. KATRINA TRUJILLO (Dancer) Katrina started dancing at the age of 12. She has been a student at the Academy of Arts and Minds since the 9th grade and has performed numerous times with the A & M dance ensemble working with guest choreographers. She has attended the Dance Now Miami Summer Dance Intensive. She has been accepted with a scholarship into the dance program of American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) and Point Park University summer dance intensives. CHEVIYANTE HILL (Dancer) was born and raised in West Palm Beach, FL. He was last seen as Camalteux in the NWSA s production of Alfred Jarry s UBU ROI, translated by Mathew Glass. Before moving to Miami in 2011, Cheviyante attended the prestigious Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Since then Cheviyante has studied at New World School of the Arts and has been furthering his dance training at the Miami Dance Conservatory, in South Miami. Cheviyante is very proud to be working with City Theater, and making his debut at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. MARGARET M. LEDFORD (Director) Margaret hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Speech from the University of TN and studied Cubo-Expressionistic Scenography post WWI abroad at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She is a 6 time Carbonell Award nominated director and a multiple Silver Palm winner for direction, a Carbonell winner for Lighting Design and she was the Associate Artistic Director and Resident Director for The Promethean Theatre for 8 years. Margaret has directed for many South Florida theaters both educational and professional, including: Nova Southeastern University, Florida International University, Fantasy Theatre Factory, St John for the Arts, New Theatre, Naked Stage, Mosaic Theatre, Caldwell Theatre, Florida Stage, and Arts Garage. Margaret is a member of the Mangrove Creative Collective. Currently, she serves as the Board President of the South Florida Theatre League. JOHN MANZELLI (Producing Artistic Director - City Theatre-Miami) John has been proud to helm City Theatre as Producing Artistic Director since 2011, where he previously served as Artistic Director in Under his leadership, City Theatre has expanded programming to its local community while seeking to strengthen its national reputation and commitment to the short form play. To the latter end, In 2011 City Theatre launched the CityWrights: Professional Weekend for Playwrights (now in its 4 th year) to engage the national dialogue surrounding the future of the short play form, as well as provide increased networking and production opportunities to playwrights. In 2011, City Theatre launched The City Theatre National Award For Short Playwriting, quickly becoming one of the premier awards in the country of its kind. John refocused City Theatre s signature brand, Summer Shorts: America s Short Play Festival to widespread critical acclaim and has launched or re-launch many different types of programming: A Family Musical Series, Short4Kids (educational

6 school touring program that brings the short play form into public middle schools), and CityWrights: Professional Weekend for Playwrights. In addition to Summer Shorts, John is extremely proud to have produced a series of socially conscious/issue based programs, that center on the issues challenges and inspiration of the LGBT and progressive community. Under this series, John has produced/directed Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays (starring Bryan Batt and Bruce Vilanch), Shorts Gone Wild (2013 Silver Palm Award Winner) and the extremely successful musical cabaret Dirty Little Secrets, starring Emmy Winner, Jai Rodriguez. John is an accomplished Director and Lighting Designer (winner of the 2010 Carbonell Award for Macon City-by Marco Ramirez). John is a member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA, and recently portrayed the recurring role of Sol Drucker on TV s Magic City (STARZ). John proudly serves as an Associate Professor of Theatre at Barry University. RICKY J. MARTINEZ (Director) Ricky is a Miami-born multi-disciplinarian (acting, directing, playwrighting, choreographing, designing, and a musician) who was educated at Miami s New World School of the Arts. He is currently the Artistic Director of New Theatre in Miami where is has directed over 30 plays including World and South Florida Premieres and/or Classics. Martinez is currently the Executive Secretary for the National New Play Network and on the Advisory Board of the Latino Theatre Commons. He has been a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for six years, the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, YoungArts, on State, City and Miami-Dade County Granting Panels as well, and a panelist/ curator for San Antonio s Luminaria Festival. Martinez has been Carbonell nominated as an actor and is the recipient of two Downstage Miami Playwriting Program mentorships as a playwright; one with Arthur Kopit, the other with Tina Howe. As a director Martinez has been invited to direct three times for the MFA Playwrights Workshop at the Kennedy Center s American College Theater Festival and the Stanford University s National Center for New Plays, University of New Mexico s Words Afire Fest and recently directed Nilo Cruz s Anna in the Tropics at the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts at James Madison University. PAUL TEI (Director and Property Designer) Paul is a City Theatre veteran: 96, and is happy to be back. Paul is the founder and Artistic Director of Mad Cat Theatre Company. In addition to Mad Cat, Paul has directed over 70 productions from Miami to San Fran, LA to New York, Vegas to Edinburgh. A member of SAG/AFTRA, Paul has appeared on CSI Miami, CSI, Franklin & Bash, The Protector, American Horror Story and recurring roles on USA s Burn Notice and Disney s Zeke & Luther. Paul received his MFA in directing from The Theatre School at De Paul University and his BA in Theatre from Barry University. LESLIE AYVAZIAN (Playwright: The Click-World Premiere) Ms. Ayvazian is the author of 8 full-length plays and 7 one act plays, published by Samuel French and Dramatist Play Service. Nine Armenians won the John Gassner/Outer Critics Award for best new play, The Roger L. Stevens Award, and second place for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. Rosemary and I received an honorable mention from the Susan Smith Blackburn jury. She has had commissions from the Manhattan Theatre Club, Windancer Productions and South Coast Repertory Theatre. Make Me, directed by Christian Parker, was produced in New York by the Atlantic Theatre Company. High Dive was produced at the Long Wharf Theatre and the Manhattan Class Company, directed by David Warren, and went on to be produced in Poland and Slovakia. Her short film, Every Three Minutes starring Olympia Dukakis was produced by Showtime and won a Telly Award. Her play Deaf Day was produced as a short film in Syria last year by Rana Kaz Kaz. Her current play Out of the City has received workshops at the Manhattan Theatre Club and the Southampton Writers Conference. City Theatre has a long relationship with Ayvazian, and has produced many of her short plays, and her full-length one woman show, High Dive. Leslie is an adjunct professor of playwriting at the Columbia University Graduate School of the Arts. Her credits as an actress include a recurring role on Law & Order SVU and roles on Broadway in Lost in Yonkers and Naked Girl on the Appian Way.

7 DAN CASTELLANETA (Playwright: Shock and Awww -World Premiere) is a four time Emmy recipient for his work on The Simpsons (as Homer, Krusty, Grandpa, and others), where he is also Consulting Producer and Writer. Dan has written for The Simpsons (including the WGA Award Nominated episode Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore ), and The Tracey Ullman Show. His play A Purple Dawn premiered at Geneva College and Northwestern College in Orange City Iowa. He, along with Deb Lacusta, founded the improv scenario group Instant Theater in Chicago, where they wrote, directed and performed comedic one-act plays. Their new play The Banana Tree (Bloomington Playwrights Project, 2014) was part of an improv workshop with playwright Jeffrey Sweet. His musical, Empire Burlesque (with Deb Lacusta and composer Laura Hall) was a 2010 Disney/ASCAP Musical Workshop selection. As an actor, Off-Broadway: The Alchemist, (Title role) and Where Did Vincent Van Gogh? (Solo Show). Regional: The Second City (Chicago), Nighthawks (CTG), Moonlight And Magnolias (as David O. Selznick, Old Globe Theater), American Splendor (as Harvey Pekar, Theater/Theater) and The Underpants (Geffen Theater). Film: Super 8, The Client, The Pursuit Of Happyness, War Of The Roses, Nothing In Common, My Giant, Neil Simon s Laughter On The 23rd Floor (Showtime) and Charlie s Angels: Behind The Camera (as Aaron Spelling, NBC). Television: The Simpsons (Four Emmys, WGA Nomination), The Tracey Ullman Show, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, Monk, Frasier, Friends, NYPD Blue, Murphy Brown and Everybody Loves Raymond. RICHARD DRESSER (Playwright: Halftime-World Premiere) Paul s seventeen published plays have been produced in New York, regional theaters, and Europe. His trilogy of plays about happiness in America includes Augusta (working class), The Pursuit of Happiness (middle class), and A View of The Harbor (upper class). Other plays are: Rounding Third, which started in Chicago and appeared off-broadway and has had hundreds of productions, Below The Belt and Gun-Shy, both of which started at the Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville before moving off-broadway. Also, Something In The Air, The Downside, Alone At The Beach, Wonderful World, and Better Days, plus many short plays. Other projects include the book for a musical, Johnny Baseball, about the Curse of the Red Sox, which premiered at A.R.T. in Cambridge, and was nominated for seven awards from the Independent Reviewers of New England. It moved on to the Williamstown Theatre Festival in July 2013 where it set a box office record. His play The Last Days of Mickey & Jean, about a notorious Boston gangster in early retirement, has had a number of regional productions. The Hand of God about reality television appeared in the Denver Theater Center New Play Summit and will premiere at the San Francisco Playhouse next season. The Handyman (now titled Closure) appeared at Berkshire Playwrights Lab in August 2013 and is slated for production in the summer of His most recent play, 100 Years, was recently presented at the Key City Public Theatre s Playfest in Port Townsend Washington. His short play Love, Dad will be in the Boston Theatre Marathon this spring. What Are You Afraid Of? was part of City Theatre s 2001 Summer Shorts. He is a former member of New Dramatists and twice attended the O Neill National Playwrights Conference. He currently teaches at Rutgers and is on the board of the Writers Guild Initiative, which does writing workshops with veterans and caregivers among other groups. MIRA GIBSON (Playwright: Old Flame World Premiere) is a playwright, screenwriter, and director; Mira is a recent alum of Youngblood, the writers group at Ensemble Studio Theatre. Mira s plays have been produced at Rattlestick s Theaterjam (Old Flame, 2013), Williamstown Theater Festival (Nico, 2009), Ensemble Studio Theater (Master of None and The Red White and Blue Process, 2009), Eclectic Company Theater of Los Angeles (Master of None, 2009), The 52nd Street Project (Midnight in the Alley of One Dream), and the Midtown International Theater Festival (Childhood Montana, 2008); further plays have received developmental readings at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Southampton Playwriting Conference, Long Beach Playhouse, and the Youngblood Bloodworks Reading Series. Her one-act play The Red White and Blue Process received a commission from The Sloan Foundation. In 2012 Mira s first screenplay, Warfield was produced by Summer Smoke Productions, starred her twin sister, and screened at modest film festivals around NYC.

8 HOLLI HARMS (Playwright: Make John Patrick Shanley Go Home-World Premiere) Holli is a Dramatists Guild Fellow recipient, as well as, SLOAN Grant recipient. Her play Naples, Fl was a finalist with the Great Plains Theatre Festival as well as New York s Summer Play Festival. Holli was co-founder of The Lexington Group an ensemble of writers/performers who co-wrote Step In and Stand Clear (winner- Backstage Critics Award). Holli s play Ziploc was part of the Edgmar Center s One Act Festival in Santa Monica, CA. Holli s Short film ICarus Stops For Breakfast is being developed and produced by WEIRD SISTERS Productions. Holli is a writer and performer with Monologues and Madness series at NYC s Cornelia Street Café, a member of Ensemble Studio Theater NYC and a panelist for the Bronx Council for the Arts for Playwrighting. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter, Beatrice. ARLITIA JONES (Playwright: Tornado-World Premiere) Arlitia Jones is a poet, playwright, and director, as well as co-founder of TossPot Productions in Anchorage, Alaska. Her short play Tornado was chosen as a winner in the 38 th Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival. Come to me, Leopards received a workshop production in October 2013 at Cyrano s Theatre. Rush at Everlasting premiered at Perseverance Theatre in January Jones received a 2014 Individual Artists Fellowship from the Rasmuson Foundation. She is a member of the Seattle Repertory Theatre s Playwrights Group. Her latest play Summerland will be read in the Seattle Rep s Showcase this June. She is resident alum at Hedgebrook and will be a future resident at Djerassi this fall. She participated as an emerging playwright in the 2013 Director s Lab at Lincoln Center. Jones is currently adapting A Christmas Carol for Perseverance s 2014/2015 season. In addition to her theatre work, Jones is also a haphazard blogger and author of one volume of poems, The Bandsaw Riots which won the 2001 Dorothy Brunsman Prize from Bear Star Press. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and publications and were featured on The Writer s Almanac with Garrison Keillor. Arlitia is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. DEB LACUSTA (Playwright: Shock and Awww-World Premiere) is a writer, improvisational actress, and video artist. She has performed Improvisation as a member of The Spoilin Players, and The Second City Alumni Jam in Los Angeles, as well as co-written and performed the acclaimed two-person show, Deb & Dan s Show, with husband Dan Castellaneta in Los Angeles. Her television writing includes numerous episodes of The Simpsons (including the WGA Award Nominated episode Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore ), The Tracey Ullman Show, and The Simpsons Comic Books. She directed, wrote, and starred in the independent improvisationally-based film starring Marlon Brando, which was collaboration with Dan Castellaneta. Her theater projects include: Lock Up Grass at the Organic Theater in Chicago, The August and The Statue at Bailiwick Theater in Chicago, and Earther and Pieces of Eight in collaboration with Dan Castellaneta in Los Angeles. She, along with Dan Castellaneta, founded the improv scenario group Instant Theater in Chicago, where they wrote, directed and performed comedic one-act plays. Recently, their new play The Banana Tree (Bloomington Playwrights Project, 2014) was part of an improv workshop with playwright Jeffrey Sweet. Her musical, Empire Burlesque (with Dan Castellaneta and composer Laura Hall) was a 2010 Disney/ASCAP Musical Workshop selection. Her video performance work has been seen at the UCLA Hammer Museum, MOCA North Miami, P.S.1 MOMA New York, Art Basel Miami Beach, Vendanta Gallery in Chicago, Bart Wells Institute/London, and Deitch Projects in New York. Born in Detroit, Deb has received her MFA from Art Center College of Design, BFA from Otis College of Art, and BGS from the University of Michigan. In Chicago, Deb also worked as a Copywriter/Producer for the advertising firms Foote Cone & Belding and DMB&B. JOHN MINIGAN (Playwright: It s The Jews-Southeastern Premiere) John has developed scripts with the Orlando Shakespeare Theater and the New American Playwrights Project. PAUL RUDNICK (Playwright: My Husband-Previously produced by City Theatre in its 2012 Broward Center production of Standing On Ceremony) Paul s plays have been produced on and off Broadway and around the world. They include Valhalla, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Mr. Charles, Currently of Palm Beach; Pride and Joy, The Naked Eye, I Hate Hamlet, and Jeffrey for which he won an Obie, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and the John Gassner Playwriting Award. STEVE YOCKEY (Playwright: Joshua Consumed An Unfortunate Pear-World Premiere) Mr. Yockey is a Los Angeles based writer with work produced throughout the country, in Europe and Asia. Afterlife, Octopus, Large Animal Games, CARTOON, Subculture, Very Still & Hard to See, The Fisherman s Wife, and Wolves are published & available from Samuel French. This season, Pluto will open at Actor s Express (Atlanta), Know Theatre (Cincinnati), Forum Theatre (Washington D.C.), and Orlando Shakespeare Theatre (Orlando). The Thrush & The Woodpecker will also premiere in the 2014 SOURCE Festival in Washington, DC. Steve is a Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia and holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU s Tisch School of the Arts (2008). He was one of two writers selected for the first US/Australia playwright exchange in February 2013, sponsored by NNPN and Playwriting Australia and is the recipient of the 2013 LA Weekly Playwriting Award for Very Still & Hard to See. Steve writes on the MTV series Awkward and is currently adapting Simon Doonan s Confessions of a Window Dresser and Zenescope s Monster Hunters Survival Guide for Relativity. He is also at work on the eone/syfy television reboot of the Stephen King & George Romero 80s cult horror hit Creepshow. PRESTON BIRCHER (Lighting Designer) Preston is from a show business family, and was raised backstage. He was handed his first stage light to hang at the age of 10, and has been going ever since! Starting at the age of 7, his mother put him onstage in her shows as a way to have family time. In the 70 s he performed in the National Tour of THE WIZARD OF OZ, directed by Christopher Plummer and starring Susan Watson and Bobo Lewis, as well as OLIVER!, starring Vincent Price as Fagin. His professional lighting career began in the late 70 s at Six Flags over Texas and Six Flags Magic Mountain. 100 s of shows later; he then started a 23-year career with Carnival Cruise Lines; producing and designing over 120 shows! Preston is back in the real world of theatre, and won a Best Lighting Carbonell Award for Best Play; The Timekeepers at Island City Stage. At Island City Stage he has designed Shorts Gone Wild (with City Theater) & Secrets of the Trade. At Empire Stage; The Santaland Diaries and Making Porn. He is the Resident Lighting Designer at the Plaza Theatre in Manalapan, and designed Rags, Dirty Blonde, Music of the Night & Cougar the Musical. MATT COREY (Sound Designer) Matt earned both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in bassoon performance at the University of Miami, and currently performs in the Boca Raton Symphonia.
