The Arts Festival audience buys art at all price levels. The advertising and promotion targets an audience totally diverse in age, artistic background and affluence. 3 INFOMATION dates&hours Friday, July 13, 3-8pm Saturday, July 14, 10am-8pm Sunday, July 15, 12 noon to 5pm The Cain Park Arts Festival is a juried fine arts and fine crafts event, featuring the work of a maximum of 150 artists: 50-60% are first-time exhibitors at Cain Park, and 25 are award winners from the previous year. Typically, the Festival is comprised of approximately 55% two-dimensional art, which includes paintings, watercolors, hand-pulled prints and photography. The other 45% includes fine crafts in all categories ranging from sculpture, ceramics, all media of jewelry, wood, leather, glass and other material in proportions dictated by the number of applicants and the quality of their work. Signed and numbered digital or mechanical prints can be in one display bin in your booth. The Arts Festival is a three-day outdoor event, held AIN O SHINE in a municipally owned and operated park in Cleveland Heights, Ohio (located 8 miles east of downtown Cleveland). Only in the most extreme weather with conditions clearly hazardous to artists, patrons and staff, will this event close down. Supplemental to the art exhibits, restaurant-quality food concessions and entertainment are set up away from the artist exhibit areas. artist perks Cain Park/The City of Cleveland Heights takes no percentage of artist sales Cash awards All winners are announced at the Sunday continental breakfast and are automatically accepted to 2019 Arts Festival 3-day access to show director Drive to your booth to unload Energetic staff helpers: assistance with set-up/take-down, booth sitting, food pick-up Personalized booth sign estroom & shower facilities available onsite Complimentary snacks and beverages Friday lunch Enthusiastic buying public and more! jury process The jury panel consists of three visual arts professionals with evaluating experience. Jury choices are based exclusively on artistic merit as represented on the images submitted. No geographical, organizational or political criteria are employed in making selections. Every applicant, except the 2018 prizewinners, undergoes the same anonymous, critical evaluation by our jury. jury exemption 2018 Arts Festival award winners are automatically accepted to the 2019 Festival. However, they still must comply with all other requirements, fees and deadlines set forth in 2 WAYS TO APPLY. exhibit terrain Exhibits are set up on grassy ground on both sides of a wide, winding paved Park path. We suggest using indoor/outdoor carpet or Astroturf to achieve smooth flooring and better footing. Booth Space: 10 wide; depth depends on location. No double spaces. Electricity is NOT available in booths. We will do our best to comply with specific booth location requests; however, traffic flow, good balance of media, and special healthrelated needs of exhibitors are the first considerations when assigning spaces. parking Many spaces will accommodate one normal vehicle behind or close to the booth, but you must give us the style and dimensions of your vehicle in order for you to have a parking space within Cain Park. Due to the limited access to your booth, please be aware that it may not be possible for your vehicle to be moved until after the Festival closes each day. We cannot guarantee a parking spot behind your booth.

4 APPLY prizes & awards All winners are automatically accepted to the 2019 Arts Festival but must still follow all application procedures, fees and deadlines. A panel of professional artist judges will award cash prizes; Judges Selection and Director s Choice certificates will be awarded to approximately 20 additional artists and a special Artists Award will be selected by a vote of participating artists. Under Ohio law, cash prizes are taxable. fees $40 non-refundable processing fee (due with application) and $450 booth fee (due upon acceptance). Those applying in more than one art category must fill out another application and pay another set of processing and booth fees. If a check is returned unpaid, your signature gives the City of Cleveland Heights permission to debit your checking account electronically for the original check amount plus a service fee of $25. Payment by your check constitutes acceptance of these terms. inadmissible work Buy-sell art, imported art, workshop art or mass-produced items Traditional craft items including but not confined to: pysanky and hex art, dried flowers, floral arrangements, macramé, crocheting, music as an art form (musical instruments may be considered as sculptural objects but no concertizing is allowed) Living plants, tents, hammocks, camping gear, luggage or similar items as an art form Work produced from dies, casts or molds Art based on embellishing commercially produced items such as painting, stitchery or appliqués on commercially produced garments Decoration on commercially produced furniture or reconstructed or embellished structural/architectural components artist friendly refund policy Those artists who ve been accepted to the 2018 Arts Festival and choose not to participate need to send a written withdrawal request by April 18, 2018: jhoffman@clvhts.com, or fax to Janet Hoffman at , or mail to Janet Hoffman, Cain Park Arts Festival, 40 Severance Circle, Cleveland Heights, Ohio Booth fees for artists who withdraw after April 18, 2018 will not be refunded. sales The current sales tax in Cuyahoga County is 8% and must be collected. 2 ways to apply APPLICATIONS MUST BE IN OU HANDS BY MACH 1, 2018 Entries received after March 1, 2018 will not be considered. Dimensions: 1920 pixels square with black borders masking rectangular images 2. File Format: save all 5 images as Baseline Standard JPEG 3. File Size: each JPEG must be at least 300dpi and no larger than 2.0 MB (maximum 10 MB total for attachment) 4. Color Space: save images as GB 5. File Name: include your last name (no studio name) and first initial for tracking purposes 6. No booth image necessary payment options Your application is not considered complete without payment. 1. 5 ULES Non-compliance will result in expulsion and ineligibility for judging, awards and participation in future festivals. 1. All work exhibited must be original, designed and produced by, or under the direct supervision of, the exhibiting artist. The following are considered original work when properly signed and numbered: a. Hand-pulled prints in which the litho stones, plates or screens are also produced by the artist; b. Original serigraphs, monoprints, wood or other block prints, and other similar print techniques, in which both the print and screens are produced by the artist; c. Photography that is created, processed, manipulated and printed by the exhibiting artist. 2. Signed and numbered digital or mechanical prints are allowed in one display bin only. These prints/reproductions/giclees cannot be hung on your booth walls. 3. Artists must be present with their work the full three days except in cases of serious personal emergency, shutdown by Festival authority due to a catastrophe, or by special arrangement with the Arts Festival director. 4. Artists may exhibit only one art medium in their booth and it must be in the category in which they were accepted and of a style and quality comparable to the work shown on their application images. 5. Promotional items such as postcards, notecards, calendars and t-shirts, nor any non-original promotional items may not be sold in the booth. 6. Artists are responsible for proper insurance and protection of work and set-up. The City of Cleveland Heights and Festival management assume no responsibility for loss or damage to artists property from any cause. 7. Artists must have an Ohio transient vendor s license to sell at Cain Park (application included in Info Packet mailed upon acceptance at the end of May). 8. NO PETS AE ALLOWED IN CAIN PAK and no overnight camping. 9. No electricity is available in booths no exceptions.
