4 Workshops Visualising Your Business Model Scottish Institute for Enterprise Daniel Quinn Thinking about starting your own business but not sure where to start? The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and lean start up tool which can help you do just that, by separating any business into nine distinct building blocks. Through this session, we will look at how one of the most famous brands in modern culture uses this tool to deliver value to consumers before inviting you to apply it to your own ideas. How to bring your show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Rachel Sanger and Lyndsey McLean Find out how to bring a show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in this interactive workshop run by Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society staff. Take on the role of a company performing at the Fringe, choose your venue and set your budget. This workshop will answer your questions on bringing a show to Edinburgh and leave you feeling ready to conquer the Fringe! Introduction to Theatre Casting: the other side of the table Nick Farr This casting workshop will explore the audition process to help performers understand the thinking and point of view of directors, casting directors or producers who are on the other side of the table. NB - this is a practical workshop for Acting students. Get In to Technical Theatre Scottish Drama Training Network Abigail McMillan What happens at an interview for a technical or theatre design job? Come and find out how you can be more prepared for your first interview as a technician or member of the creative team. Surviving / Thriving? Self-employment in the Creative Industries Abigail Carney This workshop will invite participants to consider and discuss a six point check list to flourish as a self-employed person in the Creative Industries sector. You will leave with a sense of your own what, who and how, as well as finding out what D.A.F.T. stands for and developing your own tool kit for self-employed success.
5 The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Rachel Sanger and Lyndsey McLean The Society is the organisation that underpins the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The founding principle at the heart of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - to be an open access arts event that accommodates anyone with a story to tell and a venue willing to host them - still regulates the work of the Society today. It is our policy that no single individual or committee determines who can or cannot perform at the Fringe. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is a registered charity with three core objectives: - Providing support, advice and encouragement to all the amazing artists, producers and venues who create the Fringe each year, from help with choosing a venue or writing a press release, to advice on touring, free access to rehearsal space, and professional development activities and events - Assisting the audiences who come to Edinburgh by helping you navigate what s on offer with comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date information and ticketing - Promoting this wonderful and unique festival to the rest of the world Scottish Institute for Enterprise Daniel Quinn SIE is funded by the Scottish Funding Council and Scottish Enterprise to help students in Scotland develop enterprise skills, discover their entrepreneurial talent and start up their own ventures. Entrepreneurship is an exciting and empowering life skill which brings many benefits to the individual and society. SIE works within the 19 HEIs and several colleges in Scotland to help students develop enterprise skills, discover their entrepreneurial talent and start up their own ventures. We do this through our nationwide education programme, our cash prize competitions and supporting student start ups through our 1:1 business support offered by our Senior Business and Innovation Advisors.
