2 Film Festival Founder Susan Burton Following the tragic accidental death of her fiveyear-old son, Susan Burton s world collapsed. Her loss snapped the final tether of resilience burdened by a past of pain and trauma. She descended into an emotional abyss of darkness and despair, yet was not offered the resources needed to heal. Without support, she turned to drugs and alcohol which led to nearly 20 years revolving through cycles of incarceration. Drawing on her personal experiences, she founded A New Way of Life Re-Entry Project (ANWOL) in dedicating her life to helping others break the cycle of incarceration. Susan has earned numerous awards and honors for her work. Released in 2017, her memoir, Becoming Ms. Burton received a 2018 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work in the category of Biography/Autobiography. Film Festival Committee Chair Leah Daniels-Butler Leah Daniels-Butler is a casting director and producer responsible for launching the careers of talented actors like Gabourey Sudebe, star of the Academy Award winning film Precious and other notables. She currently serves as Casting Director for television s #1 show, Empire on Fox. Among her many accolades, for her work on The Butler, Leah is the recipient of the Hamilton Award for Outstanding Casting. The younger sister of Academy Award nominated Director Lee Daniels, Leah is hard at work expanding the family s real life empire. Alongside her beloved husband and adult children, Leah is hard at work on several new ventures.
