2 Mission of Ottawa Hills Theatre Arts 1) To involve students in a variety of theatre experiences. To introduce students to acting philosophy and to technical theatre. (2) To expose the entire student body and community to quality theatre thereby instilling a lifelong appreciation for theatre in the students who will be the audience of the future. Jr. Summary Based on J.M. Barrie's classic tale and featuring an unforgettable score by Morris "Moose" Charlap and Jule Styne with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and Betty Comden and Adolph Green, is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time. This high-flying Tony Award-winning musical has been performed around the world and delighted audiences for 60 years and is now adapted for young performers. Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous. Featuring the iconic songs, "I'm Flying," "I've Gotta Crow," "I Won't Grow Up" and "Never Never Land," and a rousing book full of magic, warmth and adventure, Peter Pan Jr. is the perfect show for the child in all of us... who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up. Jr. is a dream come true for groups looking to bring magic to their stage and entertain countless families. 3 Jr. Character Breakdowns/ Audition Requirements All Audition Materials will be available on the Acting Out wikispace: Role Audition Song Monologue A boy without a care in the world. Has a can-do spirit and who most certainly "won't grow up!" The eldest of the Darling children and has a certain maternal quality. is very bright, ever-practical and ready for an adventure! The leader of the pirates, has a bone to pick or rather a to hook! Though he is the villain of the show, he's also a bit of a clown who just can't seem to get what he wants. John The middle Darling child and one with an amicable and open presence. A little more proper than his younger brother. Michael The youngest Darling boy, he seems to have unlimited energy. Tiger Lily She is the fearless leader of the Brave Girls. Leads them in fighting and dancing. Smee 's sidekick who wants nothing more than to see him succeed in his evil plotting. The mother of, John and Michael, and she is the perfect picture of a mother. Mr. Darling The father of, John and Michael, and his is a man with one concern: keeping his house in order. 4 Liza The Darling's housekeeper who always seems to be in a bit of a frenzy as she tries to keep everyone pleased. Jukes, Starkey, Noodler, Ceco Pirates on 's ship. Nana Nana is a dog, the nanny to the Darling children. Crocodile A silent part for a performer who can take a leap and become the wickedest beast that ever was! Lost Children Ensemble of exciting characters that sing and move well. Brave Girls Ensemble of excellent dancers and singers. Pirates Ensemble consisting of 's boatload of evil characters. Ugh-A-Wug Auditions Open auditions will be a fun, stress-free, team-oriented, educational experience. Callbacks, of course, are more intense. The audition process is as follows: Check-in Warm-ups Creative play/ improvisations/ character work/ ensemble-building activities Sing and Act (memorize and block songs and monolgues) Physical breakdowns (height, hair color, physical characteristics). For auditions, please: 1. Arrive early and be ready to go! 2. Complete an audition form and sign contract. Be prepared to turn in promptly at the start of auditions. 3. Have fun! And remember Your audition does not begin when you are on the stage; it begins the moment you walk in the door.

5 Jr. Contract I understand that I am to be in attendance for all rehearsals that involve my character. Additionally, I understand that each production has a rehearsal schedule and that I must adhere to this schedule. I also realize the director(s) reserve the right to call additional rehearsals, if needed. Moreover, I realize that if I miss a rehearsal, I will receive a warning and run the risk of not being blocked in a particular scene. Casting will depend on the information I give the director(s) on the calendar. I understand that I am not excused from any rehearsals/performances during production week (November 11-19). I also understand that this is a high school production and the dates of the production may be changed! I understand that I am not allowed to participate in another musical or play during the rehearsal process of Peter Pan Jr. I understand that I must help strike the set; I must also stay and continue to work until the strike is finished. Attendance will be taken at the conclusion of the strike, and I understand that students who are absent or leave early will not be cast in another production. I agree to respect my fellow cast members, crew members, stage manager, and the director(s). Showing my respect includes not only my behavior at rehearsals/performances, but also learning my lines by due dates and being in attendance and prompt to rehearsals. Failure to show respect to others involved in the production will result in a warning or replacement. Parents will be notified when I receive a second warning. Additional infractions will warrant a dismissal. I realize that the principal and director(s) will review the record before dismissing a cast member. The director(s) also have the right to execute alternative disciplinary methods throughout the rehearsal period. I understand that when casting decisions are made, they are based partly on physical looks and that changing my appearance (e.g. haircut/color) after auditions must be approved by the creative team. I also realize that I may have to change my appearance to fulfill the director(s) artistic vision. Failure to do so will result in my replacement. I understand that I cannot skip school on a rehearsal or performance night. School attendance is mandatory to rehearse and to perform. I realize that I must pass all subjects to perform. Failure to meet satisfactory academic standards will result in immediate replacement. I realize that I must commit to the director(s) vision of the text. Recreating the script for personal gain will result in a theatre department expulsion. Finally, I realize that I must pay a $125 production fee for Jr. Student Signature
