1 APRIL 2018 Free social activities for over 65s in Camden & Islington North London Cares introduces young professionals to their older neighbours in an effort to unite the community. We would love to see you at a social club to share stories, learn skills and make friends with younger and older Londoners. Wednesday 4 th April, 11am pm: Easter Brunch with the Museum of Happiness Museum of Happiness, Arlington House, 220 Arlington Rd, Camden Town, NW1 7HE Buses 24, 27, 29, 247 & C2 Stops: Camden Town Station & Camden High Street Did you know that happiness is a skill that can be learnt? The Museum of Happiness are dedicated to exploring the science and art of happiness in fun and playful ways. Join us for a morning where we will explore relaxation and what makes us happy. Enjoyed over a spring time brunch! Yum.

2 Friday 6 th April, 10.30am - 1pm: Workplace Visit - Expedia Angel Each month you are invited to visit your younger neighbours in their offices to learn about what they do, meet the team and experience what working life is like for them. It s always a lot of fun! This month we are going to Expedia, an international travel company. Let them transport you around the globe as you hear about their work & then share a lunch together (Limited Places). For full details & to reserve your place please call us on (Option 1). Saturday 7 th April, 1pm pm: Podcast Club - North London Stories Castlehaven Community Centre (Haven), 23 Castlehaven Rd, NW1 8RU Buses 24, 27, 31, 168 Stop: Hartland Road / Camden Market Get together in Camden Town for an afternoon of story-sharing. And if you re feeling brave, record them too! A lovely, sociable way to spend a Saturday afternoon at this regular monthly club. This time the theme will be fashion! Before the event dig out some photos of days gone by...your best looks, fashion faux-pas or even some fashion icons of yours Tuesday 10 th April, 6.15pm pm: Film Club Hilldrop Community Centre, Community Ln, off Hilldrop Road, N7 0JE Bus 390 Stop: Hilldrop Road Tufnell Park OR Buses 29, 253 Stop: Hilldrop Road Films are so much better with company. Share some light refreshments and chat before watching a film together on the big screen at the Hilldrop Community Centre. Wednesday 11 th April, 3:30pm pm: Weekly Social - An Introduction to Argentina! Kentish Town Community Centre, Busby Place, NW5 2SP Buses 29 or 253 Stop: Torriano Avenue At this club learn about the history and culture of Argentina from regular volunteer Chantal, with a chance to try some traditional South American cuisine.

3 Thursday 12 th April, 2pm - 4pm: Pub Club Crown Tavern, 43 Clerkenwell Green, EC1R 0EG Buses 19, 38, 55, 243, 341 Stop: Clerkenwell Green Bus 812 (Community Transport) Stop: Percival Street Raise a glass with some of your younger neighbours at our monthly pub club. One free drink thrown in for good measure and a great time guaranteed. Bring along any board games that you fancy playing while you are there. This month there will be a pub quiz. Saturday 14 th April, 3.30pm pm: Grand National - Race Day Event Collective Auction Rooms, 5-7 Buck Street, NW1 8NJ (Between Kentish Town Road and Camden High Street) Buses 88, 134, 214, C2 to Kentish Town Road Stop L, OR, 24, 27, 29, 88, 134 to Camden Town Station Come and enjoy a big screening of the Grand National with your younger neighbours. Wear your best outfit and bring your pennies if you fancy a flutter. With some refreshments before the horses run their race, this promises to be a great afternoon in Camden! Monday 16 th April, 6.30pm pm: Gig Night Jacqueline House, Oldfield Estate, 52 Fitzroy Road, NW1 8UA Buses 274 & 31 Stop: London Zoo / Chalk Farm Fancy listening to some brilliant live music? Join your younger neighbours for a gig in Primrose Hill. Music will be brought to you by local singer Longy, who is currently undertaking quite a challenge - playing 500 gigs in one calendar year, in 500 unique venues. We ve no doubt this will be his favourite audience! Come and be part of it. Note: the gig is seated.

4 Wednesday 18 th April, 3.30pm 5.30pm: Weekly Social - Creative Writing Kentish Town Community Centre, Busby Place, NW5 2SP Buses 29 or 253 Stop: Torriano Avenue Enjoy getting creative on this Wednesday afternoon as the Weekly Social gets a visit from High Hearted Theatre Company! They will be running a creative writing workshop, giving you the chance to explore ideas about community, identity and what it means to live in London. We ll be doing some writing exercises, sharing stories, and taking the first steps to see what goes into creating a play. This is part one to a two week special! Thursday 19 th April, 12.45pm - 3pm: Trip to the London Children s Ballet Holborn London Children s Ballet returns to the West End with a ballet based on Oscar Wilde s witty novella - The Canterville Ghost. Enjoy the performance and make new friends in the beautiful surroundings of the Peacock Theatre in Holborn. For full details & to reserve your place please call us on (Option 1). Friday 20 th April, 1.45pm pm: Trip to the Foreign Office Westminster Pay a trip to the Foreign Office and soak up its history before meeting some of the Civil Service Team for tea, cakes and a chat. Come along to our brilliant Book Club in Swiss Cottage and discuss this month s read A Far Cry from Kensington by Muriel Spark. You don t need to have read the book to join - you ll be able to start and borrow the next one at this meet. They will be running a creative writing workshop, giving you the chance to explore ideas about community, identity and what it means to live in London. Join your neighbours in the heart of Camden Town for a photography workshop run by younger neighbour and photographer Sarah. Learn about style, photographers and the art of story-telling with photography. All the while having a laugh with your neighbours. Friday 27 th April, 11.45am pm: LSO Lunchtime Concert LSO St Luke s, 161 Old Street, EC1V 9NG - meet in the café downstairs Buses 55 & 243 Stop: St Luke s Music Education Centre Come and discover more about music and instruments of the orchestra in the beautiful setting of the Jerwood Hall. In this concert, hear music from Fanny Mendelssohn, pioneering British composer and suffragette campaigner Dame Ethel Smyth, and the influential composer and teacher Nadia Boulanger, played by LSO Principal Cello Rebecca Gilliver and pianist Sophia Rahman.
