1 SUN CITY ANTHEM PERFORMING ARTS CLUB MINUTES OF GENERAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 I II Meeting called to order at 6:41 PM Quorum is established. III A motion was made to approve the Minutes of the July 18, 2017 Board of Director s Meeting by Cindy Mapes. Seconded by Woody Woodhouse. APPROVED. IV Reports of Officers: A. President s Report 1. President will be attending training session by CLC tomorrow. 2. There is still nobody running for President for President encouraged all to consider taking on this position. 3. The Board has approved a new committee to establish mentoring classes for PAC members. It is hoped that the first class will be on movement and acting. There is also a need for education in sound and lighting. 4. PAC members must respect the space when Spotlight has Freedom Hall reserved. PAC members may not enter at those times. For 2018, PAC will have Freedom Hall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00AM-10:00PM. Spotlight will be in Freedom Hall on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00AM-10:00PM. The Penn Room will not be available for booking. B. Vice President s Report VP thanked the SIG Reps who have consistently responded to her s in the past two years. C. Treasurer s Report As of 8/18/17: Checking Account: $14, Reserve Account: 1, Total: $15,358.54

2 Profits from Spring Shows: Readers Theater: $1, Visitor: $3, Choraliers $1, Proposed Capital Expenses: The Pajama Game (Rights and Materials) - $3,880 Four Shure wireless receivers, body pack transmitter, microphone - $4, (low bid) D. Secretary s Report Secretary announced that she will not be able to attend the November meeting. Therefore, she wanted to take this opportunity to thank the following people, who did so much to help: Gloria Guaraldi Membership Coordinator Mary Kaplan Communications Coordinator Bev Mulligan Scheduling Coordinator 2016 Cindy Mapes Scheduling Coordinator 2017 Secretary also thanked all of those who send in information and pictures to be included in the Spirit. V Report of Support Committees: Production Support Committee Chair of the Committee (Marc Dubin) will be calling a meeting to establish what the PSC should and can be doing to support ongoing productions. VI Unfinished/Old Business and General Orders: Membership is needed to approve expenditures for Pajama Game, to be performed November Tickets for this show will be sold for $15 apiece. Norene Collins, director, spoke about the show. Motion was made by Ronnie Savino and seconded by Sandie Durgin to approve expenditure of $3,500 to purchase the rights and script of Pajama Game. APPROVED.

3 Discussion continued about the need for live pianists required for this show. VII Reports from Shared Interest Groups: A. Anthem Players: Discussion was held re. the need for the continuation of this SIG, as Club members in this SIG belong to other SIGs. This SIG no longer has an identifiable purpose. Vice President indicated that there are PAC members who do not belong to any of the other SIGs and they will have no SIG Rep to go to with questions or problems. Perhaps it would be better to rename this SIG as something more relevant. B. Anthem Jazz: The group performed yesterday in ICCC production of East Meets West. Will be performing in the Las Vegas Spotlight Spectacular at Texas Station on 10/21. C. Choraliers: They will be doing a holiday program open to participants from all SIGs. Auditions are on October 25 th. Choraliers will also be doing a show in March. D. Clowns: The Clowns will be participating in the Choraliers show. E. Desert Divas: The group is having fun rehearsing for Bon Voyage. They will also be participating in Anthem s Got Talent. F. Karaoke: The group had a June sing-a-long that was not well attended. However, the recent Evening of Entertainment was a success. A lesson learned for next time, is that there will be no reserved seats, as people were taking seats reserved for others. Seating will be first come, first served. Everyone who participated was thanked, especially the Tech Team. The evening couldn t have happened without them. G. MCG: No report H. Readers Theater: Readers Theater is busy rehearsing for its upcoming show. The director feels that the group has some of the best material yet. It was requested that PAC members come out to the performance to show support for this SIG. The spring show will be on April 15. I. Showstoppers: Participated in the Karaoke Evening of Entertainment. The group is rehearsing for Bon Voyage. J. Tappers: The group rehearses every Tuesday. Most of the members are not interested in performing in any of the shows. K. Tech Team: Although the group still doesn t have a chair, it is hoped that one member who has been organizing the group, will take on the leadership role. The Tech Team has been active in helping and working with groups both in and out of SCA. L. Musicians Guild: The group will have a presence in Bon Voyage, as a number of the musicians are performing in the show. The group would like to have a place to have monthly jam sessions. Freedom Hall might be an appropriate venue on one of the days assigned to PAC.

4 [Victoria Schaefer, director of the upcoming show, Bon Voyage, gave an update. She indicated that everyone involved has been working very hard since August. Show dates are November 10 th, 11 th and 12 th.] VIII New Business: A. Due to federal regulations forbidding the use of the band wave we are currently using, we need to replace four microphones and packs by 3/18. Cost will be $4, We can save some money if the Club can do the set up. A motion was made by Steve Holmstrom and seconded by Bob Dubinsky, to authorize the purchase of four microphones at packs at a cost not exceeding $4, APPROVED. B. Bob Dubinsky had been requested to give suggestions about purchasing LED lights. These lights would stay up permanently and be available for use by all of SCA. A motion was made by Steve Holmstrom and seconded by Renee Riendeau to authorize spending up to $3,000 to purchase LED lights. APPROVED. Bob Dubinsky also discussed that there are two new follow spots in Freedom Hall. Need to deal with the old ones. His suggestion is that they be donated for Spotlight and PAC to use in the Delaware Room. They would also be available as needed by any other SCA groups. A motion was made by Sandie Durgin and seconded by Norene Collins to share the responsibility with Spotlight to move the old follow spots to the Delaware Room and maintain them. APPROVED. IX For the good of the Performing Arts Club: A. Steve Holmstrom brought up that the pianos are not in good shape. President indicated that he has discussed this with Sandy Seddon. The pianos should be tuned twice yearly. More extensive repairs are probably necessary. B. Karl Bruner requested having the headsets replaced.
