INSTRUCTION IS GEARED TO STAGE ACTING WITH SOME INTRODUCTION TO ACTING FOR OTHER MEDIA AS WELL. TOPICS INCLUDE STAGE DIRECTION AND BLOCKING CONCEPTS, BEGINNING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, ). 4 MONOLOGUES WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: PARTICIPANTS WILL USE THE VEHICLE OF MONOLOGUES (USEFUL IN FUTURE AUDITION SETTINGS) TO HONE ACTING SKILLS AND DEVELOP PUBLIC SPEAKING ABILITIES. A VARIETY OF MONOLOGUE STYLES WILL BE INCLUDED (COMEDY, DRAMATIC, SHAKESPEAREAN, ETC.) AND PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN MONOLOGUES FOR FUTURE APPLICATIONS. AGE RANGE: UP TO 18 YEARS OLD (BOTTOM RANGE DETERMINED BY EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ISSUES; OVER 18 MAY BE ADMITTED IF PARTICIPANT LIMITS ALLOW). 5 ACTING SKILLS AND PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP LOCATION: PALM SPRINGS ONLY (FOR WORKSHOP PERFORAMANCES ARE THROUGHOUT VALLEY) DESCRIPTION: THIS PROVEN WORKSHOP COMBINES THEATRE GAMES, EXERCISES AND ACTIVITIES WITH CASTING IN A TRAVELING PRODUCTION IN ORDER TO BUILD AND HONE ACTING AND OTHER SKILLS. PARTICIPANTS WILL BE CAST IN GROUPS TO PERFORM IN A UNIQUE RECREATION OF AN EPISODE OF GILLIGAN S ISLAND WHICH WILL GO ON THE ROAD WITH EACH GROUP TRAVELING TO DIFFERENT SENIOR HOMES, ASSISTED LIVING, AND OTHER SENIOR FACILITIES THROUGHOUT THE VALLEY TO BRING ENTERTAINMENT AND JOY TO THE VALLEY'S SENIORS. AGE RANGE: UP TO 18 YEARS OLD (BOTTOM RANGE DETERMINED BY EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ISSUES; OVER 18 MAY BE ADMITTED IF PARTICIPANT LIMITS ALLOW).
