9 PERFORMANCE NOTES: This is an instrumenatal Big Band Feature for Improvised Solos on the "Stand Up for Jesus" theme. Begin the song as written using a solo Alto Sax playing the lead line. All other instruments should play their parts as written. After one time through open the song for improvised solos continuing to take the first ending. After the solos are done repeat the song one more time using the Solo Alto Sax playing the lead line, just like the first time. Note that on the solos the other horns can play behind the solo coming in at measure 11 (with pickups) or the soloist can play without any back up horns. Try and change the feel and dynamics on each solo. When taking the final ending (4) use a big ritard and hold on beat 4 of the nd to last measure; cut the band off and let the drum play a brief solo then all come in on beat (1), hold, cut that off (grand pause); and them finally play beat (3) of the last bar having the sax or other lead insturment solo over the final hold. Also a dbl "G" from the lead trumpet would add a nice touch.
