There will be 5 exams and the lowest exam score will be dropped. Exams will typically have listening questions based on labs and pieces discussed in class. All exams will be taken on a 50W Scantron. Papers must be submitted on time to earn full credit. Late papers will receive a 5-point reduction for each day beyond the due date. This includes Saturday and Sunday. Papers will be turned in using turnitin.com. I ll have a demonstration during class by the second or third week. You are required to spend 30 minutes per week in the Music Lab listening to music. The lab is located in Holt 105. The weekly listening assignments will be posted on line on the class webpage: You should be prepared to do additional listening on your own to familiarize yourself with the music. The lab is open Monday thru Thursday from 8 AM until 6:30 PM and 8 AM until 2:30 PM on Fridays. You must be checked in by a lab assistant to receive credit for your weekly 30 minutes. Do not wait until the last minute to get your lab time in because the lab tends to get very busy towards the end of the week especially Fridays. You may break up your time or spend the entire 30minutes all at once. I will look at the total time for each week. If you miss a week you lose the points for that week. Please abide by the lab rules or the lab assistant may ask you to leave. The lab computers are intended for school work only which means that any personal business such as ing friends or web browsing for personal use is not appropriate. You are required to attend two live concerts and write a short report for each concert. One of the two concerts must feature a symphony (orchestra). We have our very own Stockton Symphony and there are others. I ll give suggestions in class. The 2 nd concert may be a jazz concert or another classical concert of your choosing. I will post concert dates on the class website during the first week of class. Please make arrangements in advance to attend at least one Symphony concert. I ll give you a handout on concert report guidelines. Missing one concert will significantly affect your grade. 4-5 page research paper on a composer. I ll have a handout with guidelines. All papers will be submitted online to turnitin.com. For concert reports, you must show proof of attendance by attaching a picture of your ticket stub to your document.
