1 Calidanza Calidanza is a dynamic Mexican folk dance company that fuses contemporary technique with traditional folk dance to tell compelling stories of the rich cultural traditions in Mexico. In this lively and energetic performance, students will be introduced to traditional Mexican folk and contemporary dance accompanied by valuable information regarding the dances and the reasons behind the traditions. Students will also learn about the distinctive cultural regions of Mexico through dance, music, and lavish, colorful costumes. In an interactive lecture format interspersed with live performance, local Sacramento professional musicians inform students about Blues music history, song structure, how to put feelings into lyrics and song, and how instruments play together to effectively communicate the Blues. Students sing along, play egg shakers, and ask questions of the band. If the school has a music program, students may get on stage to "jam".
