Additionally, seeing how we are changing our PLUM hearing date, we will also need to delay our City Council hearing scheduled for June 24. We have consented to changing our City Council hearing date to July 1 with the deadline for Council action on July 2. Thank you once again for all of your help and please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or if there are any additional issues with the hearing for the 6230 Yucca Street project. 2 Barbara McDonough 6/9/ :52 PM PROPOSED DEVASTATION TO CAPITOL STUDIOS Re: Proposed Construction at 6230 Yucca Street, Los Angeles Matter No , CPC , ZC HD ZAA SPR, CD13 Dear Barbara Greaves, I wish to add my name to the ever -growing list of concerned preservationists, music lovers, and Hollywood residents who seek to stop the on-going construction and development of the ground next to the famed Capitol Records building. Not only is this building one of the most recognized in architectural history, within it's walls lie a musical heritage that is worth preserving and honoring. It has been scientifically proven that without a doubt, the construction will damage the studio's echo chambers and lead to the demise of these historic recording studios. Legendary musicians from around the globe still come to Capitol to record because of the quality of sound they can get from these unique echo chambers. (Which as a side note, their business serves to further stimulate our local economy.) Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Band, Pink Floyd, Nat King Cole, and hundreds of others have called Capitol home. Take a moment and consider the records you, your family, your friends, and the world at large have enjoyed which have all been fostered by the very building that developers are now ruining for a parking structure. A lousy parking garage??? How absurd that anyone with any regard for Capitol's significance could even consider such a ridiculous endeavor by money-grubbing developers. Surely this cannot continue and I would hope that you would use your influence to stop this madness before it's too late. Can you imagine London allowing this to happen to Abbey Road or Memphis to Sun Studios - absolutely not! In fact, these cities have done the opposite - they regard them as national treasures and and have preserved them as musical landmarks. This is L.A- there is plenty of land elsewhere to stick a condo complex and a parking garage. It's unconscionable that anyone who represents this city actually approved these plans for the surrounding soil. I drove by today and saw the cranes circling, and as a Hollywood resident I was shocked to see that yes, this city was sitting back and allowing this travesty to happen. Do you want to be held accountable for the demise of a highly significant cultural landmark? I doubt you do. However, if you allow the developers to move forward, you will be held responsible to the city you serve as a key player in the loss of an architectural gem and a piece of America's musical heritage. I hope you take the time to really consider the folks you are serving - we are a people who value the arts and the city's contribution to the global community. Anyone with any integrity can see that if you put the studios on one side of a scale and a parking structure on the other, there's no contest as to which has more value. You don't have to be a musician to appreciate the contribution of this building... you just have to be someone who appreciated Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Stan Kenton, Merle Travis, Les Paul & Mary Ford, Johnny Mercer, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Seger, Benny Goodman, Gene Vincent, Harry Connick Jr., Green Day, Crowded House, Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, Dave Grusin, Sting, Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr or the Beach Boys (whose seminal album Pet Sounds is still regarded as "the" studio masterpiece of all time.) All of these artists, and many more, recorded landmark albums within these studio walls which are now being treated as less worthy than a place where someone can merely park their car. When you weigh in on the fate of these important studios, please consider that siding with the developers can never be reversed. Your decision in the proceedings is being watched by thousands, literally. I have

I am writing to urge you to halt construction titled: Proposed Construction at 6230 Yucca Street, Los Angeles Matter No , CPC , ZC HD ZAA SPR, CD13 for fear of causing damage to the historic Capitol Studios. I am a trombonist, sending this from Japan, where I am on tour with the Percy Faith Orchestra, and with whom I have recorded at Capitol. I have also recorded there with Andy Williams, Les Brown, and many others over the years. And of course, many of our greatest artists, such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Judy Garland have recorded some of their greatest hits there. In addition, wherever I go in the world and see travel posters of California, almost always, right next to the HOLLYWOOD sign is good old Capitol Records. Such an important landmark for Hollywood. Capitol Studios is vital to our community and is an integral part of our Entertainment Industry. The potential closure of Capitol Studios, even temporarily, will severely impact my ability to work, by limiting the number of studios available in Los Angeles. During the last few years, we have lost Todd AO Scoring Stage, Cello Studios and the Paramount Scoring Stage, to name only a few. The availability of studio facilities in Los Angeles is quickly diminishing, and while Capitol Studios has weathered the storm, it is now in danger of being shut-down by a developer who acknowledges that there will be damage to Capitol Studios, but is determined to proceed. I urge you in the strongest manner possible to deny the request to build near the legendary Capitol Studios, and to help protect my livelihood, and our city's legacy.
