4 Biography 4 "Together they create an astoundingly beautiful world of sound" --Nicholas Goluses, Professor of Guitar, Eastman School of Music "World-class instrumental artistry" --Scott Regan, 88.5 WRUR Radio Host Duo Vela has beguiled and enchanted audiences around the world by performing a unique range of music across many genres and cultures across the globe. Duo Vela formed in 2014 whilst both Daniel and Marla were studying at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Their first performances took place at the Eastman School of Music, eventually culminating in their first national tour of Upstate NY, Washington D.C. and Virginia. Duo Vela s second tour began May 2016 in China, sponsored by the Shanghai International Arts Co. Five concerts were held across five major cities and were presented in prestigious venues, with audiences numbering over one thousand. Through June to August of 2016, Duo Vela toured Australia and New Zealand, giving over twenty concerts across both countries. Marla and Daniel are now based in Asheville NC, where they perform regularly. Their upcoming schedule includes performances at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, Virginia Weslyan College and a concert tour in Beijing, China, hosted by GuitarW Music Workshop.
