1 F A L L the Halifax All-City Music Community News Supporting and Enhancing Music Programs in HRSB Why Teach Music? Music is a stunning, life changing and beautiful art! Music helps students gain life-long skills such and organization, practice, and teamwork. Music strengthens the brain! Music is a great way to explore different peoples and cultures! Making music builds community, and helps students see their place in a larger organization. Music asks students to go deeper. Music is challenging, fun work. It is worth the time and effort. Welcome to another amazing year of music making! As we come off of our 50 th year celebration, is a year to look to the future of both the Halifax and Dartmouth All-City Music Program. At the end of this year, Halifax All-City and Dartmouth All-City will unite under one name. We don t know what that name will be, but we are working on it! We hope to see all of you out at a concert this year. Our students are making some amazing music already! This year Halifax All-City is bigger and better than ever. We have new ensembles, new teachers and a couple of really exciting community partnerships that are happening. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. See you soon. Nathan Beeler Department Head-Halifax All-City Music nbeeler@hrsb.ca

We have wonderfully keen students who are eager to develop skills in voice, music literacy, ear training, performance and community building. It has been great hearing from students and families about summer music making experiences-choir camp, musical theatre classes, singing with friends, and even an opera chorus.
