4 One of my favorite places to write and record music is on the road. I m always inspired by the sounds in my environment, and touring gives me the chance to come up with new ideas in every city I visit.

5 I record melodies and beats on my phone as I go through my day and save them as voice notes. I have hundreds of voice notes saved, and many of them became songs on the album. Hence the album title Voicenotes.

10 Everything I create comes together through layers. Hear the layers! d SCAN TO UNLOCK I originally wrote Attention as a classical piece and then it morphed into a funky guitar sound. It really laid the groundwork for this album. It put me in a new place musically, and I m really happy with how it turned out.

14 For the Boyz II Men track If You Leave Me Now we worked remotely and recorded the vocals in Vegas. I wanted to put really beefy chord changes into a pop song. 17 I produce and mix all my own records. I m with the tracks from the beginning to the very end before they go to radio. Once I ve recorded my song ideas, the studio is where I go to piece everything together. All of my music comes from my experience. I express my feelings with music, and I think being authentic to who I am is what makes Voicenotes such a special album for me.
