1 Melinda Hubbell Piano Teacher Melinda Hubbell grew up in Atlanta. She began playing piano at the age of three. She was largely influenced by her parents who played duets in their home on baby grands backto-back while she listened attentively. She studied piano, voice and music theory/composition at Georgia State University, University of Massachusetts in Boston, and Piedmont College in North Georgia. She currently handles the Private Lesson Program at Fulton Science Academy Private School and teaches private piano in her studio and several locations around the North Atlanta area. Her education includes Bachelor of Arts in Music cum laude from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, studies toward the Master of Arts in Teaching in Music at Piedmont College, a Master of Business Administration in Managerial Leadership (4.0) from Piedmont College, and an Associate of Science in Business Administration with honors from Georgia Perimeter College. She recently completed a course through Berklee College of Music in Boston in Music Technology. Her expertise includes teaching music privately and in the classroom. She has done so for more than 20 years in the Atlanta and the North Georgia area. She was a popular, solo performer; piano and voice, playing selections that included her own compositions, classical music, pop and jazz standards. She has taught music using a diverse set of curriculums. She loves teaching music, rhythm, movement and self-expression through a variety of programs and supports all the research that states that children who study music perform better in all other areas of study. Her belief is that music bridges differences, builds self-confidence, and promotes harmony. 2 Marcus Edward Pittman Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and Beginning Piano Marcus grew up in various cities along the Eastern Coast of the United States. Throughout his school career, he sang in choirs and ensembles, which helped to shape his love of music. At the age of 15, Marcus received his first guitar, and has never looked back. Marcus moved to Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C., where he sought to study under Jay Brighton. Jay had a profound influence on Marcus in the areas of music theory, ear training, and, most importantly, the discipline of practice. After studying with Jay for a few years, Marcus moved to Virginia Beach, VA where he learned from players such as Scott Mishoe and Jay Rakes. In the mean time, Marcus began playing in various bands and recorded his first album Martian Landscape. At times, you would even be able to catch Marcus on stage with Paul Gilbert. Upon graduating from high school, Marcus wanted to further his knowledge of the music industry, so he moved to Nashville, TN and attended Middle Tennessee State University to study Recording Engineering. During his college years, Marcus continued to play in several bands; he played on numerous recording projects; he taught private lessons; he played in musicals such as Little Shop of Horrors and Grease; and in his spare time, he studied under professional session guitarist, Gwain Reifsnider. After living in Nashville for several years, Marcus knew that he needed to further his musical education and experience, so he moved to Atlanta, GA and enrolled at the Atlanta Institute of Music (A.I.M.). Marcus graduated with honors from A.I.M. and then was brought on staff so that the newest generation of up-and-coming musicians may learn from his knowledge and experience. In December of 2001 Marcus played for the Keni Thomas's band Cornbread. The band was featured in the film Sweet Home Alabama, which was released September In 2003 Marcus was the Music Director for the M.S Other than teaching private guitar lessons and playing in several different bands, in 2009 Marcus produced, engineered, played lead guitar and bass for the debut album of Above the Break, a young rock band based out of eastern North Carolina. In the summer of 2010 Marcus released his album The Lost Tracks, a compilation of songs written and recorded at different places and times over the years. 3 A Maya Keiser Piano and Voice Teacher A native of Canada, Maya Keiser graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor Degree in Music. Her major was theory and composition, and her applied study was piano. She is classically trained under the Royal Conservatory of Music Curriculum. Mrs. Keiser loves and performs a wide variety of music, from classical to jazz. She is a self-professed musical theater enthusiast. Mrs. Keiser has over 20 years of experience teaching voice and piano, and has been a church musician in Atlanta for over 15 years. She has accompanied several school choruses and vocal soloists. Other experience includes performing piano and vocal solos at parties, weddings and funerals, playing piano for the School of the Atlanta Ballet, and singing at the Macy s Christmas Tree Lighting. 4 Violin Emily Hindes holds a Master s Degree in instrumental performance from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, where she studied violin with Dr. Bernard Zinck, a graduate of the Paris Conservatory and Julliard. Emily received her B.M. in string performance at Kennesaw State University, where she trained with former Julliard concertmaster Helen Kim. Mrs. Hindes has been an active participant in orchestras, small ensembles, solo performances, and many freelance projects around both Atlanta and Milwaukee. In 2010, she traveled with the Kennesaw State Orchestra to Beijing and Xian China, where they performed a two-concert tour. The following spring, Emily soloed with the Kennesaw State Philharmonic Orchestra, playing the 3 rd movement of Spring by Vivaldi. That summer she also recorded with a few local artists, including Daniel Bashta who currently signed with Integrity Music and the band Kansas. Mrs. Hindes has toured with bands in and around Atlanta, the most current group being Quiet Hounds, an up-and-coming indie group centered in Atlanta. Emily has taught privately since 2010 and has coached chamber groups for the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has also participated in chamber competitions throughout the state of Georgia and attended violin teacher workshops in Milwaukee and Atlanta. 5 Joseph Kirkland A life-long musician from Blackshear, Georgia, Mr. Kirkland is classically trained in the disciplines of Voice, Percussion, and Classical Guitar and can also teach Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, and Beginners' Piano. He comes from a long tradition of family musicians and has experience playing every genre, both popular and academic.
