1 Schemes of Work Schemes of work covered in the Drama department are below. 7 Bullying Aims introduce drama as a subject give students a voice about the issue of bullying allow both teacher and students to gain knowledge of the group, and enable the teacher to see how students work together in different contexts introduce students to work based on a variety of stimuli help students develop skills in building a character develop students rehearsal skills. Circus understand how meaning can be communicated without dialogue, through movement and mime know and understand the conventions of mime and apply these in performance find and use information on the origins of the circus. Character create a three-dimensional character using various stimuli discover how to devise a script. Story Telling be able to tell a story clearly using drama demonstrate that people look at drama and stories from different perspectives develop rehearsal skills develop the confidence required for performance. Tinsel Truths deepen students understanding of the difference between film and reality enable students to improvise encourage involvement in discussion.

Peer Pressure enable students to see how situations develop and how people can react develop a range of drama techniques help students develop an understanding of structure and character provide opportunities for group work. Shoplifting tell a story using a range of drama techniques develop understanding about choices that people can make and the effects these can have learn more about performance skills understand more about character development and portrayal. Script understand what a script is participate in writing a script learn more about character development understand and use a variety of dramatic techniques.
3 Battle Cries create a variety of different characters help students to understand more about a situation and how characters react to it help students to understand more about why people fight use a variety of techniques to create the drama help students to understand how light and sound can contribute to a piece of drama. 9 Commedia develop students understanding of a theatrical genre use mask and movement confidently develop confidence for performance. Departure encourage the use of vocal and physical skills appropriate to character and situation, giving consideration to pace, projection, timing and space be aware of the role that a stimulus can have in shaping a drama develop and sustain a variety of styles and forms of drama understand how drama can be created for a specific audience. Secret Annex explore the issues work on character development create and perform improvisations based on a script understand and use a variety of techniques and skills. Shakespeare learn how to read and perform a script understand more about Shakespearean theatre learn more about the use of sound and movement. Pop Culture demonstrate that drama includes a variety of genres and styles develop drama for a specific audience increase confidence for performance develop improvisation skills.

8 Outline of the course Unit 1: Introduction Composition techniques / Forms and structures / Developing melodies. Popular music A study of popular music from 1960 to present day, producing a Pop music composition for coursework. Unit 2: Film music Study of a variety of film scores with an understanding of effects and processes employed by composers. Produce a Film music composition for coursework. Unit 3: Music for Special Events A study of music composed for special events and processes employed by composers to create appropriate effects. Produce a composition to match the requirements of a particular event or occasion. Unit 4:Orchestral Landmarks A Study of the development of the orchestra across three centuries. Produce a composition using the given criteria. Unit 5: Dance music Study a variety of forms and styles of social dance music. Produce a composition from one of the given dance music styles. Final submission for composition tapes with, scores and written evaluations. Two compositions one is based on Music for a Special event and the other an Integrated Assignment set by the AQA examination board. Unit 6:Assessment / Revision To include revision of the five areas of study Pop music / Film music / Music for special events / Orchestral Landmarks / Dance music Final assessments Term 2 Year 11 Year 10 & 11 GCSE Music National Curriculum Pupils will be following the AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance Board) syllabus for Music (3271), which meet the requirements of the Programmes of Study for Key Stage 4. Aims To: build on skills learned in Key Stage 3. To develop an understanding and appreciation of a range of different kinds of music. To extend their own interests and increase their ability to make judgements about musical quality. To acquire the knowledge, skills & understanding needed to make music both individually and in groups. Homework There is one Music homework per week, this will either be a set exercise, practice on pupils chosen instrument or coursework. Pupils should ensure that homework is written in the planner, completed and handed in on the due date. GCSE Music Club Is held on a Wednesday lunchtime from and gives pupils the opportunity to work with support on ongoing composition coursework, homework, or practice on their chosen instrument Coursework Deadlines Individual teachers will set Coursework deadlines. Pupils are expected to meet deadlines. Any pupil not meeting their deadlines for coursework may be putting their GCSEs at risk. Teachers will inform parents if coursework deadlines are not met. Parental Involvement Parents can support pupils and the department by taking an interest in what is being studied, and giving active and positive encouragement. Please check that homework and coursework is being completed and handed in on time.
9 However the final formal assessment will take place in Term 2 of year 11 and coursework will be given the GCSE grades as per the AQA mark scheme. As in Key Stage 3 pupils will regularly have the chance to review and assess their work.
