3 4th EUROPEAN CHOIR GAMES & GRAND PRIX OF NATIONS 2019 Funky Voices have been invited back to represent #TeamGB In 2019 Sweden The nation of choristers, will host the 4th European Choir games and the Grand Prix of Nations. With approximately 600,000 singers,choir singing is one of Sweden s most popular movements and the country is therefore a perfect location for this international singing event. The host city for the event has been well chosen: Gothenburg. The country s second largest city, is a genuine music city where music is close to people s hearts. It has a lively alternative music culture and big arena stages. Culture and the arts take centre stage in Gothenburg, where singers from all over the world join, compete and celebrate a grand festival of choral music in Sweden at the 4 th European Choir Games and the Grand Prix of Nations Gothenburg Gothenburg offers almost everything you expect of a cosmopolitan city and all within walking distance. All you need is located right in the city and you can get everywhere by foot; from the Central Station to your hotel, to the arenas, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. But it s not just close to everything, it s also easy to get there. Both international airports are just 20 minutes from the city centre and with direct flights from the UK.

4 PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES PARADE OF NATIONS Take part in the now legendary Parade of Nations. The streets of Gotheburg come alive with 1000's of singers from different countries all representing their country. A magnificent spectacle as we represent #Team GB. Like the Olympics, but for choirs. COMPETITIONS If you wish, and in the spirit of "Participation is the highest honour", choirs from all over the world, regardless of their present level of achievement, have the opportunity to participate in the Open Competition to gather valuable experience in international competition. FRIENDSHIP CONCERTS In addition to the competitive participation, we will perform in Friendship Concerts with other choirs in public venues in and around the city of Gothenburg. These public concerts provide opportunity for each choir to present musical genres, skills and some show their traditions and costumes of their native land. This was definitely one of the highlights for FV in Riga European Choir Games FESTIVAL STAGE CHOIR The finale of the whole event will be a festive performance, to include a selection of traditional and choral symphonic pieces at the closing concert. Detailed information about the repertoire will be made available in October If you wish to participate in these special performances there will also be obligatory rehearsals during your stay.

6 ACCOMMODATION (Hotel will be confirmed in October 2018) A while back we had a Facebook poll to ask members if they would prefer 3-4 star or 4-5 star hotel accommodation for the European Choir Games. With a price difference of We listened and went with the majority who preferred 3-4 star as it would be cheaper and that they wouldn't be spending much time in the hotel to warrant paying extra. The hotels in Gothenburg are of a very high standard anyway. Rest assured that the hotel will be near the action and be of a high standard. We are in the process of securing 3-4 star bed and breakfast hotel accommodation. The European Choir Games organisers need to know how many Funky Voices singers/friends/family would like to participate with their room requirements in order to secure the hotel. As we are a large choir and in order to accommodate the choir in the same hotel, all bookings will be taken on first come first served basis. 7 THE PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION FORM Would you like to attend the 4 th European Choir Games and be part of Funky Voices #TEAMGB 2019? SO WHAT DO I NEED TO DO NOW? Please follow steps 1 to 4 below 1. Please note in advance all the information required (see 2 below) to complete your registration form. Chat with your friends to discuss sharing twin, double or triple, (single rooms are very limited). 2. The form will ask you for: Name of participant address Telephone number Singer or non singer Funky Voices Choir group name, or family/friend Do you want to be part of the competition choir? yes/no Room requirement - sharing twin, double or triple, (single rooms are very limited) Name of the person(s) you will be sharing with (very important) Any special dietary requirements Any disability requirements 3. E ach participant needs to complete the registration form on the Funky Voices website members area - Tour and Trips. 4. O nce the form has been completed, please pay deposit of each person via electronic bank transfer, with your name as your reference. 9 Can family and friends come along and join us? Yes, family and friends are very welcome to join. Just fill in all the details on the form and select the Non Singer box. Do I have to participate in the competition part of the European Choir Games? No, you can come along and join in the rest of the itinerary, parade, friendship concerts, festival stage performances etc and not be part of the competition choir. You can choose this by selecting yes or no in the Competition choir question box. Is there any special songs we need to learn? Yes, if you wish to be part of the Festival Stage Choir, there will be songs to learn. All parts will be put online for you to learn early next year. There will also be two rehearsals prior to leaving for Gothengurg in 2019.(dates tbc) Does the hotel have disabled facilities? Yes, we will endeavour to make sure any disability requirements are met. I have special dietary requirements, will they be catered for? Yes, the hotel will endeavour to accommodate all your dietary requirements. Are flights included in the price? No, as previous fv tours, the flights are not included. Please tours@funkyvoices.co.uk once you have booked your flight to enable us to secure your transfer places. FAQs How do I get to the hotel from the airport? We have organised flight transfers to and from the hotel. Please tours@funkyvoices.co.uk once you have booked your flight. Making sure you send us all the details: Arrival flight number, flight time, departure flight number and time. We can then secure your transfer place. Will the hotel be near the events? Yes, we have been assured by the ECG (European Choir Games) organisers that the hotel will be near the main events. If any transport is required to any events, the tour operator will organise transportation which is included in the package. Will there be enough time for sight seeing? Yes, we are planning the itinerary to enable you to have plenty of time for sight seeing. Can I pay in full or do I have to pay by instalments? Yes, you can pay the full amount if you wish. Instalments MUST be paid on or before the instalment date. Do we need to bring our Funky Voices uniform? Yes, both your Funky Voices uniform and the #TeamGB Top need to be worn at different performances. A detailed itinerary list will be published nearer the time indicating which uniform to wear at what performance.
