1 Chapter Tiered and Cluster Classrooms R efer to the touch panel illustration above each section for button placement. Each button function is explained within its page showing which equipment it operates. Main Page The Main Page consists of six areas: source selection, microphone volume, lights, a miscellaneous page, and a viewing area. Each source brings up its own control sub-page. An illustration and explanation follows. 2
VCR VCR Controls are self explanatory. When the VCR is selected, the image from the VCR is displayed in the preview area, (gray box above) but is not displayed by the projector until the Send to Projector button is pressed. If this is the first item to be sent to the screen from room startup, the projector will power up, and the main screen will come down. 3
Cable TV Cable TV channels can be changed by using the up or down arrows or by direct entry and pressing the enter button. The image will be displayed in the preview area until the Send to Projector button is pressed. The channel can be recorded on the VCR by simply pressing the Record to VCR button. 4
DVD DVD Controls are self explanatory. The image will be on the touch panel screen only until the Send to Projector button is pressed. 5
Room PC The Room PC page displays the VGA output from a PC installed in the A/V rack. Pressing the Send to Projector button turns the projector on, lowers the main screen, and switches the projector to VGA input. There are no other controls within the A/V system for this input. Control of the PC is via the wireless keyboard in the room. This input also has no audio input to the system. 6
Document Camera The Document Camera page displays images from the Wolf-vision document camera on the lectern. It is a VGA device with no audio input. Pressing Send to Projector button turns the projector on, lowers the main screen, and switches the projector to VGA input. 7
Laptop PC The Laptop PC page is the input page for the VGA connector in the side of the lectern. This input has a 3.5mm input for stereo audio. Pressing the Send to Projector button turns the projector on, lowers the main screen and switches the projector to VGA input, and sets the volume level to the last level used. The resolution should be set to 1024 x 768. If another resolution is desired, contact the A/V department to set it for you. 8
Aux Video The Aux Video input is a dual input on the side of the lectern. It consists of a Mini-DIN S-Video input, a composite (yellow) RCA input, and left and right RCA audio inputs. Pressing the Send to Projector button turns the projector on, lowers the main screen and switches the projector to video input, and sets the volume level to the last level used. This source can also be sent to the VCR and be recorded by pressing the Record on VCR. 9
Remote Feed Remote Feed allows viewing a program distributed through the building via fiber optic links with other rooms or throughout the Rice campus. Pressing the Send to Projector button turns the projector on, lowers the main screen and switches the projector to video input, and sets the volume level to the last level used. This source can also be sent to the VCR and be recorded by pressing the Record on VCR. The A/V department will inform you when a program is available for viewing. 10
Projector Off The projector off button will mute the projector output. Subsequent pushes will toggle the projector mute function. Screens and Shades Screens and Shades page control the three projector screens and the window shades. The screens will go down or up completely. The shades will stop when the last button pressed is pressed again, allowing the shades to be left at any level. The close button will take you back to your previous screen. 11
Microphone Volume Microphone volume controls the audio output of the lectern microphone and all wireless microphones. Microphone output is routed to the ceiling speakers only. Presentation Volume The presentation volume controls all playback sources that have audio. This volume control varies the level of the two speakers in the front of the room. Lights The lights section allows one of the preset lighting schemes to be selected. The more controls button brings up a page with the individual dimmer controls. 12
Room Shutdown Room shutdown, when confirmed, will mute the projector, lower the volume, and raise the screen and shades. In fifteen minutes, the system will power off the projector. If the system is restarted within the fifteen minute window, the projector shutdown timer will be terminated. 13
