The channel guide data will now extend out to 12 days with more detailed descriptions of the shows. The DVR service received an upgrade too. Recordings can now be stored in personalized folders. 7 In Our Community Marseilles Holiday Basketball Tournament The Marseilles Elementary School will be hosting the 4th Annual Marseilles Holiday Tournament on Wednesday December 26 through Saturday December 29, Teams in this year s high school boys tournament are; Dwight, Flanagan/Cornell, Kewanee, Lexington, Midland, Reed-Custer, Marquette, Woodland, Serena, Leland/Earlville, St. Bede, Putnam County, Gardner/ South Wilmington, Hartsburg/Emden, Peoria Heights, and Lamoille/Ohio. Putnam County won the 2011 tournament in front of a packed house against St. Bede. The first year s tournament had eight teams and grew to twelve teams the second year. The 2011 tournament had ten teams. This year s tournament has expanded to 16 teams. This will be done by hosting 8 games a day during the four day event. We invite members of the community and sports fans to stop by the Marseilles Elementary School Gym and watch some exciting high school basketball during the holidays. The price of admission is $4.00 for an adult and $3.00 for students and Senior citizens. The admission price is good for the entire day. Holiday Magic Tour of Lights The 2nd Annual Holiday Magic Tour of Lights will be held Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Take in the beautiful sights with a free bus tour Over The River & Through The Woods to view the Holiday Light Displays around town. The bus will leave every 40 minutes from Knudson Park. Happy Holidays from the City of Marseilles & LaSalle County Party Bus! Holiday Magic The Marseilles Tourism and Parks Committee will help you get in the holiday spirit on Saturday, December 1, 2012 with their Holiday Magic event. Stop by the Labor Hall from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for craft and other vendors, stories, balloons, and food will be served. The Santa Parade will start at 1:00 p.m. at the Marseilles Elementary School parking lot and will end at Labor Hall/Main Street. There is no entry fee to enter the parade and the lineup is at 12:30 p.m. at the school parking lot. Call Kathy at to enter. The Santa 5k Fun Run and 3k Fun Walk will also be held on Saturday, December 1, Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at Knudson Park and runners will leave the park at 11:00 a.m. followed by the walkers at 11:15 a.m. Registration fee is $5.00 and includes a Santa Hat. Student registration is FREE with two items to the Marseilles Food Pantry. Costume Awards! For more information on the Santa Run call Miriam at Attention Snowmobilers The IL Valley Winter Sports Club, Marseilles IL is a nonprofit snowmobile club. Our goal is to promote safe family snowmobiling. We are located in IASC Region 7. They scheduled a snowmobile safety education class in November and they took part in grooming the west end of the I&M Canal. The IL Valley Winter Sports Club meets the first Thursday of every month, from September to March at 7:30 pm at the American Legion, Marseilles IL. Membership is open. Join us and see what organized snowmobiling is all about. The club is a member of The Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs and the I&M Snowmobile Trail Council.
