1 900 Micron Tight-Buffer Optical Fiber Rugged, Versatile Buffer Optical Fibers Ideal for Confi ned Installations Product Description OFS tight-buffer optical fibers, LGBF900, provide costeffective solutions for a wide variety of applications in telecommunication networks and local area networks (LANs). This ultra-small, durable, 900 Micron tight buffer fiber have a 20-year proven record of reliability. The rugged LGBF900 can withstand moves, changes, reconnects, and tests without signal degradation. The LGBF900 tight-buffer optical fiber is a tested and proven OFS Labs innovation. You can rely on OFS to provide the same high quality in this 900-micron buffer fiber that you ve come to trust in our other fiber optic products. The 900-micron tight-buffer optical fibers are used in wide variety of networks. The products have been used in the optical fiber industry for interconnect and/or cross-connect, Transceivers and Laser/LED pigtails, internal module optical wiring and other systems where an optical signal is required. Applications This family of buffer optical fibers is valued for its small size and flexibility. They are typically used as pigtails for active and passive optical devices. They are also used for optical wiring in NICs where additional protection is desired for the optical fiber. A MUST for packaging optical network devices - optical switch, optical splitter, attenuator, modulator, filter, coupler, detector, router, bridge, optical pump, tap, laser transmitter, receiver, VCSEL, regenerator, etc. These designs provide excellent transmission performance, flexibility, and connectivity for optical systems in a variety of installation environments. The 900 micron buffer fibers (LGB900) have the flexibility to handle virtually any interconnect or cross connect application in systems such as WDM, optical switching, amplifier, DWDM, TDM, add/ drops, monitors, and cross connect. The fibers may be terminated with any type of connector. All 900 micron buffer fibers meet the highest standards in the industry. LGBF900 can also be used in the following applications: Data processing, CATV (Community access TV), Telemetry, CAD (Computer-aided design), CAM (Computer-aided manufacturing), Fire alarm, Security, HVAC (Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), Video. Features The LGBF900 products are of high quality, dual window fiber. Each fiber is coated with our D-LUX 100 protective coating and a tight-buffer material to create a strong yet easy-to-handle fiber, perfect for a variety of environmental conditions. This durable fiber can withstand the abuse of repeated handling in patch panels, within communication closets, or while rearranging circuits on racks and frames.
2 The LGBF900 PVC tight-buffer optical fiber is UL* recognized with VW-1, & AWM Style 5201 ratings. LGBF900 is offered with the following non-lead buffer materials: PVC, Low Smoke PVC, Nylon, Hytrel. The product may be ordered with buffer materials in a variety of colors: blue, orange, green, brown, slate, white, red, black, yellow, violet, rose, and aqua. Benefi ts Designed for easy and reliable installation, LGBF900 Fiber offers the following potential savings: Savings in cabinet space The ultra-small size of the LGBF900 allows many more cross-connects and/or interconnects in the same bay area or cabinet than traditional patch cords or jumpers. Provides the highest optical performance possible for your highspeed optical network. Savings in labor, equipment, and storage The cladding diameter of 125-micron ±1 micron helps prevent having to redo connectors and splices. You can also save by not having to purchase and stock more than one size connector. Savings in upgrade costs Our dual-window, lowloss, high bandwidth (or optimum cutoff wavelength) fiber supports all established and proposed industry standards, requiring only that the electronics (not the jumpers) be changed during upgrade. Savings in fiber longevity We use fiber-buffering materials designed for use with pull proof, non-optical disconnect-type connectors to help ensure longer fiber life and increase customer satisfaction. Savings in installation time The fibers can be stripped to the glass in one pass due to the high-quality buffering and D-LUX 100 protective coating. You can save the time it takes to strip off the buffering 1/4 inch at a time and the time lost for broken fibers. Perfect for getting around corners The LGBF900 has an outside diameter of 900 microns or 0.9 mm (0.035 in), with a minimum bend radius of 1.9 cm (0.75 inch) Performance The LGBF900 meets or exceeds all standards for LAN, premises, or intra-building cables, including: NEC ANSI-FDDI EIA/TIA ATM IEEE Additionally, all fiber is proof-tested to 100 kpsi and complies with: EIA/TIA 492 specifications ICEA S and GR-409-CORE requirements EIA/TIA 455 and ISO/IEC 794 standards. Our flame retardant LGBF900 fibers are UL recognized components and bear the * recognized marking as specified by UL. The AWM style for PVC is The PVC buffer materials used surpass the EPATCLP low-lead test. Tested at OFS Laboratories, LGBF900 matched or exceeded the performance of traditional cordage in comparable tests including all applicable GR-409-CORE tests. * UL and are registered trademarks of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
