2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page4 Specifications Just Add Power HDMI over IP 2G/2G+/2G+AVP Receivers have built-in video wall functionality. In a Just Add Power distributed system, a source can be viewed as a single screen and video wall at the same time. Requirements for Setup One Receiver per display in the video wall A computer with a network connection to the switch Static Route entered into router o Allows network devices to access the Just Add Power devices o Alternatively, set computer s IP details manually so the Default Gateway is equal to the IP Address of the managed Ethernet switch running the Just Add Power system Wall Sizes Static Route to Just Add Power devices at IP of switch is Wall sizes up to 8 rows and 16 columns are possible through the web interface. Wall sizes of up to 16 rows and 16 columns can be configured via the command line. If a wall larger than 8x16 is needed, contact support@justaddpower.com for more information. Dynamic Wall With Layer 3 control provided in all JADConfig installations static walls are a thing of the past. 2x2 walls can easily become 4 individual screens. 3x3 walls can be a 2x2 with 5 individual screens. Larger walls have even more options. 3x3 Wall 2x2 with 5 singles 9 singles
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page5 Content Scaling Just Add Power Receivers create a video wall by scaling the video content to a size that matches the full wall. This means that it does NOT take into account the aspect ratio or native resolution of the picture that it is sending. Square Walls 1x1 2x2 3x3 When walls are square (2x2, 3x3, etc.) the content will be scaled appropriately because the aspect ratio (vertical-tohorizontal ratio) is maintained. No additional picture scaling is needed to ensure a quality picture. Non-Square Walls 1x1 1 row, 2 column When walls are non-square have a different number of rows and columns the content will be stretched by the Video Wall process. Standard 16:9 content will appear wider or taller than normal. 1x1 1 row, 2 column To maintain proper aspect ratio on non-square walls, content must be specially designed BEFORE being sent to a Transmitter for aspect ratios to be maintained properly on the video wall. This shows an example of content that has been compressed horizontally when viewed on a single-screen so that it scales properly on a 1-row, 2-column wall. CAUTION: Multi-row, 1-column walls can NOT be configured with 1080p resolution because of extra static that will show up on the right portion of the screen. 1-column walls have a maximum resolution of 720p.
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page6 Setup Instructions 1. Configure the switch and all Just Add Power devices. Video should be showing on all video wall screens. 2. Configure the matrix so that the same Transmitter is showing on all video wall displays, and non-video wall displays are showing a different Transmitter. This will ensure that only video wall displays are set in video wall mode. The source must be outputting 720p or 1080p. Access Web Interface JADConfig Test Screen: 4-screen video wall on Input 1, non-video wall display on Input 2 3. Access the web interface of the Transmitter being shown on the video wall. Google Chrome or Firefox works best. 4. Click on the Video Wall tab to get to the configuration GUI
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page7 5. Measure the size of the displays and set the Bezel and Gap Compensation. ANY unit of measurement may be used as long as it is the same unit for all measurements. Warning: The Bezel and Gap Compensation boxes only accept whole numbers, so adjustments must be made to remove decimal values. For example, a display is measured with these dimensions: OW inches OH 25.5 inches VW 43 inches VH inches Since Bezel and Gap Compensation only accepts whole numbers, the numbers must be multiplied by 100 to remove decimal places. The updated values entered into the boxes are: OW 4413 OH 2550 VW 4300 VH 2425
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page8 6. Set Vertical Monitor Count and Horizontal Monitor Count to match the total wall size. Leave Row Position and Column Position alone for now. Set Single Transmitter Mode checkbox to checked. Check that the dropdown box at the bottom says All and click Apply. The screens will reappear in video wall mode. 3x3 Wall Example 7. Check on the Show OSD checkbox at the bottom of the page and then click Apply. Green numbers will appear on each screen. Use these numbers for identifying screens in later steps. Numbering starts at 0. 2x2 Wall 3x3 Wall 8. Next to the Apply button is a dropdown menu. Clients references Receivers, and the first number corresponds to the green number shown on the screen. Use this dropdown to select specific screens for the next steps.
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page9 9. From the dropdown box, select the display in Row 1 Column 1 (the green number on the screen will match the first number for the entry in the dropdown list). Then, set the Row Position to 1 and Column Position to 1. Click Apply. Row 1, Column Repeat step 9 for each screen in the wall, matching the green number to the first number in the dropdown box, selecting the Row and Column Position, and clicking Apply. Row 1, Column Once Row and Column Position is set for each screen, uncheck the Show OSD checkbox to remove the green numbers. 12. If the Bezel compensation on the screens does not look correct, check the display s menu for Zoom settings.
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page There may be a tear in the video wall on Row 2 or lower (never on Row 1). Click on the Advanced Setup bar at the bottom of the Video Wall tab to adjust. a. Select one row of screens that need the tearing correction by clicking on the arrow next to that row of screens. Green buttons are selected, blue buttons are unselected. b. Scroll down and locate Tearing Delay (us). 2x2 Bottom Row Selected Tearing Delay is measured in microseconds (µs): 1000 microseconds = 1 millisecond 1000 milliseconds = 1 second Increase the Tearing Delay value by 1000 and click Apply. The tear will move down the wall. Continue to increase the Tearing Delay value by quantities of 1000 until the tear has moved off the bottom. Warning: For 60fps video (1080p60/720p60): Maximum Tearing Delay value is For 24fps video (1080p24): Maximum Tearing Delay value is Exceeding maximum Tearing Delay could cause devices to constantly reboot. c. If there are more rows that have tears, repeat step 12 with the rows selected. 14. Congratulations! The video wall is up and running.
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page11 Advanced Picture Adjustment If the video wall picture is not being shown correctly after configuration is completed, additional adjustments may be needed. Television Zoom Settings This is the #1 reason that video wall picture does not look correct after initial configuration. Check the Zoom settings on the display and cycle through the options to get the best fit. Look for zoom options like Screen Fit(Samsung), Full Pixel(Sony), Dot-by-Dot(Sharp), or Just Scan(LG). The result of these options is to turn off HDMI Overscan. One-Command Adjustment Firmware A5.13d and later introduces a single command to apply all shift and scale values according to the size of the wall and TV. The Zoom Settings on the television still need to be adjusted and Bezel Gap must be applied, but this command will automatically do advanced shifting and scaling. 1. On the web page for each Receiver in the video wall, navigate to the System tab, Utilities bar. 2. In the Console API box, enter the following command: vw_scale.sh 3. Click the Apply button and the display will automatically shift the picture to the appropriate position
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page12 Horizontal and Vertical Shift Each Receiver can shift the picture up, down, left, or right for small adjustments. Shift should done only if Bezel Gap, television zoom settings, and vw_scale.sh did not adjust correctly. 1. Select the screen to apply the shift to. Green buttons are selected, blue buttons are unselected. 2. To apply a Horizontal Shift (left-right), enter a number into the Horizontal Shift box. Use whole numbers only, and all values are multiplied by 8 pixels. 3. Select whether the shift will be left or right and click Apply. The example shows a shift right of 16 pixels. 4. To apply a Vertical Shift (up-down), enter a number into the Vertical Shift box. Use whole numbers only, and all values are multiplied by 8 pixels. 5. Select whether the shift will be up or down and click Apply. Picture shows a shift down of 8 pixels. 6. Repeat until picture is in the correct location.
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page13 Horizontal and Vertical Scale Up Each Receiver can further scale the picture for small adjustments. Before applying, confirm that bezel gap values are correct. 1. Select the screen to apply the scale to. Green buttons are selected, blue buttons are unselected. 2. To apply a Horizontal Scale Up (left/right), enter a number into the Horizontal Scale Up box and click Apply. Decimals can be entered. 3. To apply a Vertical Scale Up (up/down), enter a number into the Vertical Scale Up box and click Apply. Decimals can be entered. 4. Repeat until picture is in the correct location.
2G Video Wall Guide Just Add Power HD over IP Page14 Control for Programmers All commands to alter Video Wall parameters are sent to the Command Line Interface (CLI) of the target Just Add Power Receiver. The CLI can be accessed through telnet connection to the IP address of the device. All of these commands are built into licensed drivers. Access Command Line Interface Wall Mode Change the size of the wall or remove wall mode to reset displays to single-screen. $ indicates a variable.
