The HDMI Tx video generator port provides functional testing of HDMI video, audio, protocol, and auxiliary data. The module supports approved HDMI 2.0 compliance testing of Ultra HD HDMI sink devices as well as UHD Alliance compliance tests. Video Generation The G Video supports video and audio functional testing at TMDS character rates up to 600 MHz for testing Ultra HDTVs with 4K x 2K resolutions at 50/60Hz. The 980 HDMI 2.0 Video Generator module supports HDMI 2.0 and UHD Alliance approved compliance tests for next generation UHD TVs and other sinks. Operation The G Video Generator module can be controlled through the 980 Manager GUI graphical user interface. You can use either the embedded 980 GUI Manager via the touch screen monitor or you can use the external 980 GUI Manager from a PC. The G Video Generator module can be equipped in the either the 980B or 980R Advanced Test Platform.

2 VIDEO PATTERN TESTING FOR UHD TVS Video Testing The G Video supports video and audio functional testing at TMDS character rates up to 600 MHz for testing Ultra HDTVs with 4K x 2K resolutions at 50/60Hz. The 980 HDMI 2.0 Video has an extensive set of video formats and library of test patterns. You can set any pattern in motion to test motion artifacts with the Image Shift feature. Format Selection 980 with HDMI 2.0 Video Test Pattern Selection Test Setup for Sink Test Audio Testing The module offers a programmable LPCM audio sine wave generator enabling you to set the amplitude, frequency, sampling rate and bit depth for uncompressed formats. 3 PROTOCOL TEST FEATURES Protocol Testing The G Video offers a variety of features for testing HDMI protocols. The EDID Decode feature enables you to examine the contents of the EDID of the connected HDMI 2.0 sink or display in human readable text. You can capture EDIDs from connected displays for testing. You can also compare an EDID on a connected display with a stored EDID. The SCDC Decode feature enables you to view the current register settings of the SCDC and configure registers where allowed. The HDCP verification utility enables you to verify a sink s response to HDCP 1.4 or HDCP 2.2 authentication. EDID Decode View 980 with HDMI 2.0 Video SCDC Register View Test Setup for Sink Test Aux Channel Analyzer You can use the G Video s Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) function to monitor the HDCP authentication transactions (including HDCP 2.2) and SCDC, EDID exchanges occurring over the HDMI DDC channel. You can also monitor CEC messages over the CEC bus. The optional ACA feature enables you to filter events and search through the logs. 4 HDMI & UHD ALLIANCE COMPLIANCE TEST FEATURES HDMI 2.0 Compliance Testing The G Video supports various approved HDMI 2.0 sink compliance tests (MOIs). The compliance tests enable you to view the detailed test results which help pinpoint the cause of compliance test failures. You can save the results and disseminate them to subject matter experts for analysis. Pre-Testing and Self-Testing The G Video is ideal for pre-testing or self testing (where permitted) your HDMI display or sink product. Pre-testing helps ensure successfully passing compliance when submitted to the Authorized Test Center (ATC). Self testing (where permitted) for compliance offers greater benefits for time to market and cost reduction than pre-testing by avoiding submission to the ATC for approval. 5 HDR FUNCTIONAL TESTING HDR LAB, DOLBY VISION, HLG HDR Lab The HDR Lab test option was developed jointly with industry experts Joe Kane and Florian Friedrich. HDR Lab is a suite of test patterns and reference images (examples at right) that address the following: HDR Lab (Sample Test Pattern - Combination) HDR End-to-End Validation in Post Production Verifies HDR metadata, color grading and color decoding throughout the post production process. HDR Display Test Suite Verifies various HDR attributes such as: peak brightness, native contrast, average brightness level, signal clipping, and color gamut on an HDR-capable UHD TV using a variety of test patterns. HDR Lab (Sample Test Pattern - Clipping) 980 with 18G Protocol for HDMI Testing Setup for HDR Functional Tests Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log Gamma Test Patterns The Dolby Vision test image verifies a Dolby Vision display s Dolby Vision-specific EDID data, its response to the Dolby Vision protocol handshake and its handling of the Dolby Vision signal and metadata. The Dolby Vision test image will be rendered with a checkmark in the proper location if the display has properly interpreted the color space, metadata and checksum correctly. The Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) test image provides an assurance that the HLG metadata is not impeding the ability of the display to render the image.
