4 1:1, 1:2 and 1:N Redundant Switching Systems- Rack Mounted For Block Converters and Synthesized Converters The GeoSync Microwave Redundant Switchover Unit Series is designed to improve reliability and increase the availability of satellite links. The Series is available in three configurations: The 1:1 Unit (R1R) is a fully integrated 1:1 System with a four-port transfer switch matrix located on the rear panel. The 1:1 Unit has the ability to communicate settings between the online unit and backup unit. This allows the backup path to be used for low-priority traffic. This is an optional feature, and can be accessed via a front panel key command. The 1:2 Unit (R2R) is a fully integrated 1:2 System, with a four-port transfer switch matrix located on the rear panel. The 1:N Unit (RNR) consists of up to eight (8) Redundant Switch Modules (RSM) with one controller. Each switch module is located in the rear panel of each converter. 5 Redundant LNA Systems Control Unit (Rack) and Amplifier Plate Assembly (Outdoor) The 1:1 and 1:2 Redundant Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) Systems are designed to ensure continuous operation without disruption of signal transmission. A fault condition in the on-line LNA, or an operator generated command, will switch the standby LNA to the on-line position and remove the on-line LNA from the signal path. The Redundant LNA System consists of an outdoor amplifier/switch assembly which mounts at the antenna hub, rack-mounted indoor local control unit and interconnection control cable. 7 Amplitude/Slope Equalizer Systems These Amplitude/Slope Equalizer Systems offer independent gain and slope adjustment in the L-band frequencies. These systems are designed to compensate for long cable run loss and to provide system redundancy. The 1:1 Redundant System provides automatic and manual switchover modes of operation. Each one of the four outputs can be set to either +12, +15 or +20 volts allowing the use of virtually any amplifier. Local control is from a front panel keyboard and remote monitoring is via RS485. Geosync Microwave, Inc. s current alarm allows monitoring of single amplification stage failures even in temperature compensated amplifiers, allowing for normal temperature and long term drift. During a time period of 30+ years, he managed a technical team that was largely responsible for developing the SATCOM product line at this company.
