3 Page 3 of 34 General Information Front View The FD141CV-C-6 is a special mission 14 night vision/sunlight readable widescreen monitor. uilt with retrofit aircraft integration in mind, the display can switch between three video sources using the front button controls. The display includes a daylight/nvg rocker switch mounted on the front bezel. Additional functions can be added using the 8 bezel keys; 4-buttons on each side located on the front face of the bezel. These functions are generated by the mission computer via US connection through the circular 22-pin connector. Additional Information The FD141CV-C-6 utilizes a state of the art digital video decoding chipset for video input. The available video sources are HDSDI (High Definition SDI), VGA (Computer Video, such as a Moving Map) and Composite Video (Camera, Standard Definition DVD). The LCD is protected with a.060 non-glare Lexan lens to prevent scratching of the LCD, and to meet stringent FAA abrasive load criteria.

5 Page 5 of 34 Power This is a 28VDC monitor that requires 2.0 Amps of power to operate. The unit turns on automatically upon power application. See Power and Ground Wiring below for more details. Wiring Suggestions Avoid routing video wiring parallel to: AC wiring Strobe wiring DC motor supply cables Inverter cabling Or any other potential noise source Composite Wiring Recommended cable for composite and audio purposes is PIC 75 Ohm Coax, P/N V This is a lightweight, flexible, and low signal loss cable which meets FAA flammability requirements of FAR (d), FAR (a) and FAR (a)(4). Similar aviation coaxial cable can be used from other vendors, as well. Some aircraft are prone to AC noise - we recommend adding to the composite source a 75Ohm video isolation transformer such as Deerfield Laboratory, Inc. Part No ( (650) ). In most cases this should be added to the video output of the source.

6 Page 6 of 34 Power and Ground Wiring The rated current of the equipment and associated voltage drop should be taken into consideration when selecting wire gauge. The following example is based on an install with a 28VDC power system, 1.5 amp equipment load and a total of 50 feet of wire between the circuit breaker, monitor and ground. Example: 22awg wire has 16.2 Ohms per 1000 feet, this equates to.81 Ohms for 50 feet. 1.5 Amp of current on.81 Ohms will drop 1.22 Volts. It is the installer's responsibility to understand the product's requirements in order to install the product in compliance with industry standards and safety.

9 Page 9 of 34 Operation Instructions The FD141CV-C-6 is continuously on but may be de-energized by removing power from the display system. No pilot or aircrew action is necessary during flight or ground operation. When applying 28VDC power, the display will turn on and look for a valid input. If no input is found, the display will go to standby mode. The operator will be able to change the video output from the FD141CV-C-6 using the video source select switch on the LCD monitor. utton Controls Located on the bottom front of the FD141CV-C-6 are 8 buttons, and a backlit NVG Rocker Switch. Functionality for these buttons are as follows: UTTON M DESCRIPTION Activates the OSD menu or goes to previous menu. M Moves the highlight icon down to the function that user wants. Moves the highlight icon up to the function that the user wants. Moves the highlight icon left to the function that the user wants. Moves the highlight icon right to the function that the user wants. A S P Auto-adjusts the display s size and position. Cycles through source inputs. Powers monitor on and off. Rocker Switch This rocker switch, switches between daylight and night vision.

10 Page 10 of 34 Accessing the Menu System With the OSD (On Screen Display) off, push the MENU button to activate the main OSD menu. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to move from one function to another. As you move from one icon to another, the function name changes to reflect the function or group of functions represented by that icon. Press the MENU button once to return to the main menu to select another function or press twice to exit from the OSD. To save the setting values, exit the OSD menu. Image Menu rightness Contrast Saturation Hue Sharpness Adjust to brighten or darken the picture. Adjust to increase or decrease picture contrast. Adjust to increase or decrease - a greater saturation will have vivid color; a level of zero will reduced the picture to shades of grey. Adjust to increase or decrease the level of color in the picture. Adjust to sharpen or soften the picture.

11 Page 11 of 34 Display Menu Scan Mode Over Scan Aspect Mode Full Screen Method of adjusting widescreen film images so that they can be shown within the proportions of a standard definition 4:3 ratio. Full image area to the electronic edge of the signal. The ratio between the width and height of an image. Allows full screen image on the monitor regardless of Scan or Over Scan mode.

12 Page 12 of 34 Display Menu (Continue) Auto Adjust Automatically optimize your monitors image position, clock, and phase. Image Position Press the and buttons to change the image of the screen display area. Phase Press the and buttons to remove any horizontal distortion and clear or sharpen the displayed characters. Clock Press the and buttons to minimize any vertical bars or stripes visible on the screen background. The horizontal screen size will also change. Zoom In and Out Press the and buttons to zoom in and out within the screen display area. After you zoom in, the Horizontal and Vertical controls are active. Use the and buttons to move horizontally and vertically within the zoomed area.

13 Page 13 of 34 Image Position Click on the arrow buttons to change the image of the screen displayed in the main area. These image indicators represent each computer connected to make up the Quad.

14 Page 14 of 34 Color Temp Menu Mono 6500K 7500K 9300K User This mode uses only the luminance value. Select to give the white color s a reddish tint. Select to give the white color s a neutral tint. Select to give the white color s a bluish tint. User manually adjusts color.

17 Page 17 of 34 PIP Position - The PIP Screen allows the user to change the size of the screen they want to see. PIP Mode will change the PIP to Small, Medium, Large, and Side by Side. PIP Source/ PIP Position - The screens will change depending on the Quad connections chosen for PIP (ie, Analog, HDMI). The PIP position may also move to any corner and/or side by side within the screen.

18 Page 18 of 34 PIP Swap This function will replace one image with another image connected in the quad. Side by Side allows the user to view two screens at one time in an equal amount of space.

19 Page 19 of 34 Quad Screen Menu Multi Vision Use the Multi Vision screen to manage your Quad Views. Multi Vision can be turned on or off here by changing the option from off to on.

Uses just the first physical MADI port for MADI input. Full restore back to the original factory settings. Sets the PWM level of the panel backlight.

Adjusts the OSD off timer. It consists of 5s~60s Off. Default value is 20s. Allows the user to move the OSD Menu on the screen. Allows the user to move the horizontal position of the OSD Menu. Allows the user to move the vertical position of the OSD Menu. Allows the user to adjust the OSD Transparency.

27 Page 27 of 34 Co-Pilot position with the FD141CV-C-6 The view demonstrated here is the FDARM-ML- LG in Co-Pilot mode. The monitor attached is an FD141CV-C-6. Multiple monitors sold at FDS Avionics Corp. are designed to fit on this arm. NOTE: To swap out the monitor be sure to remove the two screws at the monitor base of the arm. This will keep the arm whole and ready to attached to a new monitor.

29 Page 29 of 34 User Instructions for Attaching the Arm Support Displaying the FD141CV-C-6 is easily accomplished with the support of FDS Avionics Corp. 10 Articulating Arm Support. Following these simply steps will allow the user to attach their monitor to the arm support in minutes. Remove the pin out of the mount of the arm. Then remove the small screws from the neck of the mount. Next, screw the neck of the arm onto the monitor using the two small screws provided.

30 Page 30 of 34 Strain relief cable clamps are attached onto the arm to support the wiring harness. Finally, using the ratchet handle, replace the arm back onto the neck attached to the monitor.

31 Page 31 of 34 Maintenance and Inspections Periodic inspections required in the event of heavy use, severe vibration, severe braking action, hard landings, and events exceeding operating limits. Visually inspect for cracked or broken display glass. Visually inspect Swing Arm for loose interfaces including swing arm joints, pivot points and ensure locking and tightening mechanisms function properly. Inspect attachment points of monitor to swing arm for loose or broken screws. Inspect attachment points of swing arm to aircraft for loose or broken screws. Power on monitor and check to ensure video display operates properly with aircraft supplied video or check with display and menu functions.

33 Page 33 of 34 Limited Warranty All FDS Avionics Corp. (FDS) products are warranted to be free from material or manufacturing defects for a period of 24 months from the date of shipment for General Aviation customers or 12 months from the date of shipment for Government/Special Mission customers. Any material or repair workmanship for in warranty repair service will be specifically warranted for 90 days or the remainder of the original warranty period, whichever is longer. If the original warranty period has expired, the 90 day repair warranty is limited to the material and workmanship specific to the repair activity completed. The following conditions are exclusions to warranty coverage: 1. Labor costs associated with installation, removal or reinstallation of any product. 2. Damage to or malfunction caused by any unauthorized alteration made to the product. 3. Resolving signal quality issues caused by externally generated noise introduced by aircraft electrical systems or other components connected to any FDS product. 4. Any malfunction caused by improper installation or connection to aircraft wiring, industry standard cabin management/ inflight entertainment systems, or third party commercial equipment not specifically identified as compatible with FDS products. 5. Any malfunction caused by installation that does not conform to precautions associated with operating environments listed in the operating manual or consistent with industry best practices such as; high temperature, adequate ventilation, high humidity, high dust, or power surges. 6. Cosmetic damage or damage to internal components caused by installation or removal, failure to follow installation or operating instructions, or any neglect or misuse of the product. 7. Any product that is returned for service with a broken tamper evident seal, indicating tampering or improper handling of the product by an unauthorized person. Violation of product tamper evident seals or modification of factory installed serial and PMA labels voids any warranty, either expressed or implied. The FDS technical support team is available to provide distance troubleshooting support during business hours (8:00am to 5:00pm EST) Monday through Friday at (470) Many repair requests can be resolved through distance support and may not require return of merchandise to the factory. If a product must be returned to the factory for repair, an RMA number will be issued as directed by the technical support team and communicated by the repair coordinator. Upon request by the customer, FDS may send a service technician onsite to repair any non-pma products. The travel expenses incurred to include transportation, lodging and meals along with the technician s hourly rate shall be payable by the customer in accordance with FDS applicable rates and procedures. FDS Avionics Corp. will, upon receipt of returned merchandise, remanufacture or replace the unit at our discretion and return the product by Ground Return Shipping. Express return shipment will be the responsibility of the sender. This warranty is not transferable. Any implied warranties expire at the express limited warranty expiration date. FDS shall not be held liable for any indirect, special, punitive, incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow limitation on the length of an implied warranty. In such states, the exclusions or limitations of this limited warranty may not apply.
