2 Specialty Applicatio Photoelectric Sesors 2 SMARTEYE STEALTH-UV UVS Aalog/Digital Lumiescece Sesor The SMARTEYE Stealth-UV Aalog/ Digital Sesor is a special-purpose sesor desiged to detect the presece of ivisible UV fluorescet materials cotaied i special chalk, ik, pait, grease, glue, ad optical brighteers foud i labels, paper, tape, strig, etc. The sesor cotais a ultraviolet (UV) solid-state light source that is used to excite the lumiescet materials to fluoresce i the visible rage. The Aalog Output is as the stadard factory default cofiguratio. The sesor ca also be ordered with a 0-5 or a 0-10 VDC output. This provides flexibility whe iterfacig to differet machie iput requiremets. Four AUTOSET Modes allow for custom cotrol of the sesor s uique AUTOSET routies. Light State AUTOSET is the default settig ad should be used whe performig a setup with the lumiescet material i view. Dark State AUTOSET should be used whe settig up o the backgroud, or o-lumiescet material. This settig provides for maximum rage ad highest gai whe the backgroud is clear of all lumiescet material. Mid-Poit AUTOSET should be used whe determiig the exact amout of lumiescet material that is optimal. The the sesor will respod to ay amout of lumiescet material that is too much or too little compared to the optimal amout. Two-Poit AUTOSET should be used whe there are two lumiescet materials that require cotrast deviatio. For istace, the backgroud may be a white evelope with lumiescet material ad the target is the lumiescet glue o the evelope. These two features make the SMARTEYE Stealth-UV Aalog/Digital Sesor the most flexible ad versatile lumiescet sesor o the market. 3 Features CONTRAST INDICATOR Provides at-a-glace performace data, both statically ad dyamically. All 8 LEDs will flash three times if cotrast isufficiet or too low i Two-Poit AUTOSET mode. Light State AUTOSET Mode With lumiescet target i view, the sesor samples the sigal level from the target ad sets the switchig threshold just below that sigal level. The sesor is sesitive to less lumiescet materials i this mode. This is the default mode ad is useful i solvig most commo applicatios. The aalog output ca be used to provide feedback of target brightess level for cotrol applicatios. B. Dark State AUTOSET Mode With backgroud i view, the sesor samples the sigal level from the backgroud ad sets the switchig threshold just above that sigal level. The sesor is sesitive to more lumiescet materials i this mode. This mode is useful i solvig may commo applicatios. The aalog output ca be used to provide feedback of target brightess level for cotrol applicatios i this mode as well. C. Mid-Poit AUTOSET Mode This mode is recommeded for use i aalog output applicatios oly. With the lumiescet material i view, the sesor samples the sigal level from the target ad sets the sesor at the switchig threshold. The sesor s aalog output the reflects the level of fluorescece as compared to the target either higher or lower tha the sampled sigal level. This ca be used as part of a feedback loop to maitai or cotrol the flow of materials at a optimum level. D. Two-Poit AUTOSET Mode Use this mode to establish upper ad lower limits. Whe moitorig the target lumiescece usig the aalog output, this mode will set your upper ad lower cotrol limits at specific poits o the aalog output scale. This is the most sesitive mode for detectio of low cotrast differeces i two UV lumiescet materials. 5 How to Specify 1. Select sesor model umber required: UVS-1 through 6 (see Sesig Rage Guidelies)* 2. Select Aalog Output A = A5 = 0-5 VDC A10 = 0-10 VDC 3. Select widow required: BLANK = ACRYLIC G = GLASS (chemical resistat) *Note: Sesor selectio should ot be determied solely by rage. It may be advisable to test multiple sesors or fiberoptic light guide tip cofiguratios to esure optimum performace.
