802DN Series A DeviceNet Limit Switch Parameter List EDS file Version Operate Mode 1 (Sensor Output #1) Normally Open Normally Closed 2. Operate Mode 2 (Sensor Output #2) Normally Open Normally Closed 3. Sensor Output 1 (Read Only) SENSOR OUTPUT 1 changes state when the limit switch actuator is moved from its free position to 'ANGLE 1' in either the clockwise or counterclockwise direction. This output will change from 'Off' to 'On' if 'OPERATE MODE 1' is set to 'Normally Open.' The output will change from 'On' to 'Off' if 'OPERATE MODE 1' is set to 'Normally Closed.' If timers are enabled, user-specified time delays will be applied to this output. 4. Sensor Output 2 (Read Only) SENSOR OUTPUT 2 changes state when the limit switch actuator is moved from its free position to 'ANGLE 2' in either the clockwise or counterclockwise direction. This output will change from 'Off' to 'On' if 'OPERATE MODE 2' is set to 'Normally Open.' The output will change from 'On' to 'Off' if 'OPERATE MODE 2' is set to 'Normally Closed.' Timers are NOT applied to this output. 5. Angle 1 This is the angular displacement at which 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' changes state as the actuator is moved from its free position in either the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. The minimum value for 'ANGLE 1' is 0 degrees and the maximum value is 53 degrees, 'ANGLE 1' must be smaller than 'ANGLE 2'. If this parameter is set to a value larger than that of 'ANGLE 2', it will default to its previous valid value. 6. Angle 2 "This is the angular displacement at which 'SENSOR OUTPUT 2' changes state as the actuator is moved from its free position in either the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. The minimum value for 'ANGLE

2' is one degree as 'ANGLE 2' must be larger than 'ANGLE 1'. If this parameter is set to a value smaller than that of 'ANGLE 1', it will default to its previous valid value. The maximum value is 54 degrees, which is determined by the mechanical head design. 7. Angle Output (Read Only) This read-only parameter displays the angular position of the actuator in degrees. The 'ANGLE OUTPUT' value will range from 0 to 54 degrees, subject to a tolerance of +/- 5 degrees. In addition, over the entire operating temperature range the reported angle may vary an additional +/-5 degrees due to temperature differences. 8. Maintenance Preset This is the number of operations at which the 'MAINTENANCE DIAGNOSTIC' is activated to remind the user to service the limit switch. This promotes preventative maintenance and reduces downtime. The 'MAINTENANCE PRESET' value is user-selectable up to 65.5 million operations. Caution: this maximum exceeds the typical life of a limit switch. It is inadvisable to operate a switch this many times prior to servicing. Note that the units for this parameter are in thousands. For example, selecting a value of 10 will cause the diagnostic to turn on at ten thousand operations. 9. Maintenance Counter (Read Only) This counter value will increment by one every 1000 times 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' cycles 'On' and 'Off'. When this counter value reaches the 'MAINTENANCE PRESET' value, the 'MAINTENANCE DIAGNOSTIC' is set to 'Replace or Service Unit'. 10. Maintenance Diagnostic (Read Only) This read-only output is set to 'Replace or Service Unit' when the 'MAINTENANCE COUNTER' reaches the 'MAINTENANCE PRESET' value. This diagnostic remains on until the user resets it. 11. Maintenance Reset This parameter resets the 'MAINTENANCE DIAGNOSTIC' output to 'OK' and resets the 'MAINTENANCE COUNTER' to zero. 12. Hysteresis 'HYSTERESIS' is an offset angle also known as differential travel? When an output has been activated and the actuator is returning from the operating contact position to its free position, the 'SENSOR OUTPUT' is reset when the actuator passes by this release point. This point is determined by subtracting the 'HYSTERESIS' angle from both 'ANGLE 1' or 'ANGLE 2', as each sensor output has its own release

point. This feature is designed to help eliminate chatter in the output. This offset angle can be set in 5 degree increments between 5 and 25 degrees, but note that the value of 'HYSTERESIS' should be less than 'ANGLE 1'. Otherwise, the lower release point will automatically be set to the value of 'ANGLE 1' minus Overtravel Warning (Read Only) This warning diagnostic provides an indication that the angular displacement of the actuator is too close to the maximum allowable. This output is set at 45 degrees and is not adjustable. If this diagnostic turns on, the application setup should be adjusted to avoid mechanical damage to the limit switch. 14. On-Delay Timer Enable/Disable When enabled, the 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' will be delayed by a preset value called 'ON-DELAY' after the sensor transitions from no motion detected to motion detected and is held. The user can select a time delay value between 0 and 65,535 (.001 to 655 Seconds). Note that this feature can only be applied to 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1'. 15. On-Delay Timer Timebase A base multiplier value of either '1mS' or '10mS' may be selected for the 'ON DELAY'. This value is multiplied by the 'ON-DELAY PRESET' to get the total time delay value. 16. On-Delay Timer Preset This parameter allows the user to select the time delay value for the 'ON-DELAY'. This delay value is multiplied by the 'ON-DELAY TIMEBASE' to get the total time delay value. 17. On-Delay Timer Elapsed Time (Read Only) This parameter indicates the time since the last transition from no motion detected to motion detected. The 'ON-DELAY ELAPSED TIME' is set to 0 when the total 'ON-DELAY' value is reached. 18. Off-Delay / One Shot Timer Enable/Disable When enabled, the 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' will be held by a preset value called 'OFF-DELAY' after the sensor transitions from motion detected to no motion detected. The user can select a time delay value between 0 and 65,535 (.001 to 655 Seconds). Note that this timing feature can only be applied to 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1'.

19. Off-Delay / One Shot Timer Timebase A base multiplier value of either '1mS' or '10mS' may be selected for the 'OFF DELAY'. This value is multiplied by the 'OFF-DELAY PRESET' to get the total time delay value. 20. Off-Delay / One Shot Timer Preset This parameter allows the user to select the time delay value for the 'OFF-DELAY'. This delay value is multiplied by the 'OFF-DELAY TIMEBASE' to get the total time delay value. 21. Off-Delay / One Shot Timer Elapsed Time (Read Only) This parameter indicates the time since the last transition from motion detected to no motion detected. The 'OFF-DELAY ELAPSED TIME' is set to 0 when the total 'OFF-DELAY' value is reached. 22. Counter 1 Enable/Disable This parameter allows the user to either 'Enable' or 'Disable' the counting function of 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1'. When enabled, the sensor will count the number of transitions of 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' up to a userdefined preset value called 'COUNTER PRESET 1.' Once this preset is reached, a separate output called 'COUNTER OUTPUT 1' will be set to 'On' (Logic 1). 23. Counter 1 Preset This parameter allows the user to preset a value which will trigger the 'COUNTER OUTPUT 1' bit. When this value is reached the 'COUNTER OUTPUT 1' bit is set 'On' (Logic 1) and the current 'COUNTER VALUE 1' is reset to Counter 1 Value (Read Only) This value will increment by one for each 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' transition from 'Off' to 'On'. 'COUNTER 1 VALUE' is set to 0 when the 'COUNTER PRESET 1' is reached. 'COUNTER 1 VALUE' is also set to 0 when a new 'COUNTER PRESET 1' value is set. 25. Counter 1 Output (Read Only) 'On' (Logic 1) occurs when 'COUNTER VALUE 1' equals the 'COUNTER PRESET 1' value.

26. Counter 2 Enable/Disable This parameter allows the user to either 'Enable' or 'Disable' the counting function of 'SENSOR OUTPUT 2'. When enabled, the sensor will count the number of transitions of 'SENSOR OUTPUT 2' up to a userdefined preset value called 'COUNTER PRESET 2.' Once this preset is reached, a separate output called 'COUNTER OUTPUT 2' will be set to 'On' (Logic 1). 27. Counter 2 Preset This parameter allows the user to preset a value which will trigger the 'COUNTER OUTPUT 2' bit. When this value is reached the 'COUNTER OUTPUT 2' bit is set 'On' (Logic 1) and the current 'COUNTER VALUE 2' is reset to Counter 2 Value (Read Only) This value will increment by one for each 'SENSOR OUTPUT 2' transition from 'Off' to 'On'. 'COUNTER 2 VALUE' is set to 0 when the 'COUNTER PRESET 2' is reached. 'COUNTER 2 VALUE' is also set to 0 when a new 'COUNTER PRESET 2' value is set. 29. Counter 2 Output (Read Only) 'On' (Logic 1) occurs when 'COUNTER VALUE 2' equals the 'COUNTER PRESET 2' value. 30. Motion Output (Read Only) This read-only feature is used to detect motion, absence of motion, or slow actuator return. This status bit remains 'Off' as long as 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' changes state before the 'MOTION PRESET' time elapses. This status bit is set to 'On' if the state of 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' does not change for the duration of the 'MOTION PRESET' time. This would indicate that either (a) there are no objects being detected by the switch, (b) the objects are present but not moving (jam), or (c) the limit switch actuator is returning slowly due to possible contaminants or obstacles in its mechanical head. This bit is automatically reset to 'Off' and the timer reset whenever 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' changes state. To use this feature as a motion detector, use the output without applying additional logic. To use this feature as a slow return indicator, apply the following PLC logic: if the Slow Return output is on but Output 1 is in its rest state, ignore the Slow Return output. If the Slow Return output is on AND Output 1 is in its activated state, then the operator is returning too slowly and the limit switch head may require servicing. Be careful to consider whether 'SENSOR OUTPUT 1' is set as 'Normally Open' or 'Normally Closed'.

31. Motion Preset This parameter allows the user to select a preset value for the 'MOTION OUTPUT' function. The default is 0 which disables the 'MOTION OUTPUT'. Any value between 0 and 65,535 ms may be entered. 32. Learn Mode The 'LEARN MODE' mode has four options: 1) 'Not Active.' No angles currently being learned or reset. 2) 'Set to factory defaults.' This will reset both 'ANGLE 1' and 'ANGLE 2' to their factory defaults of 15 and 30 degrees, respectively. 3) 'Learn ANGLE 1.' This selection sets 'ANGLE 1' to the current 'ANGLE OUTPUT' of the actuator. To use, position the actuator at the desired angle and select 'Learn Angle 1' followed by 'Save to Device' in the 'Modify Parameter' dialog box. Go to 'LEARN ANGLE STATUS' to verify that the change was completed successfully. If the status window displays a 'Failure' message, verify that the actuator position being learned is between its minimum and maximum allowed values and that 'ANGLE 1' is smaller than 'ANGLE 2'. 4) 'Learn ANGLE 2.' (See Learn ANGLE 1.) Note that after resetting to factory defaults or learning an angle, this parameter's value will return to 'Not Active'. 33. Learn Status (Read Only) This dialog box displays the status of the 'LEARN MODE' function and can not be modified by the user. 'Complete' means that the new angle was successfully learned. 'In Progress' means that the angle is currently being learned. (This is usually displayed too quickly to be seen.) 'Failure' means that the new angle was not learned. 34. Sensor Temperature Value (Read Only) This parameter identifies the internal temperature of the sensor in degrees Celsius accurate to within +/-2 degrees. The rated operating range of the sensor is -25 to +70 degrees Celsius. 35. Autobaud Enable/Disable When Autobaud is enabled (recommended), the limit switch will listen to other devices on the network to determine the correct baud rate to use for communications. When disabled, the baud rate must be set using the Node Commissioning tool in RSNetworks.

36. Baud Rate NV (Read Only) This parameter identifies the Baud Rate stored If 'AUTOBAUD' is set to a value to 'Disabled' the 'BAUD RATE NV' can be used to set the communication rate. 37. Serial Number (Read Only) For Documentation value only. 38. Configuration Consistency Value (Read Only) This parameter is used to confirm that a replacement limit switch has been configured to match the previously installed switch.
