State of the art specifications Comprehensive Alarm Management If it needs to be compressed for transmission over a third party Ethernet network using the latest H.264, MPEG4 or the railway approved MJPEG standard, the X- Net codec delivers the highest quality video at the lowest bandwidth. If you need analogue quality uncompressed video across a dedicated fibre network, the X-Net optical modules deliver 10 bit encoded video with greater than 65dB signal to noise performance. Need audio as well? Not a problem, it can be lip Ease of Installation sync d with the codec video or you can even have duplex stereo CD quality on the same fibre. Ease of installation Industry standard RJ45 connectors and pin outs are used throughout the entire X-Net range for ease and speed of installation. All units will work with a 12VDC supply. X-Net hardware can easily be powered from typical supplies found at the base of camera poles. Adjustment free installation of all fibre modules. X-Net Video Management System X-Net codecs are configurable via an easy to use web browser interface. 4
- Net? COE Warranty for Fibre Transmission Reduced cabinet space A single 4U 19" X-Net rack can hold up to 14 single slot X-Net modules, when external power supplies are used. The same rack can be used with an internal power supply and fitted with up to 12 single slot X-Net modules. Alternatively, dual redundant power supplies can be fitted, still leaving space for up to 10 single slot X- Net modules. It is also possible to mount two X-Net racks back to back in the same cabinet. Peripheral Device Support Comprehensive alarm management Alarm status can be easily ascertained though a range of flexible options: from simple front panel LEDs and associated contact closure signals, through to VT100/Hyper Terminal serial diagnostic on a connected laptop or PDA, through to network wide remote web browser diagnostics, up to SNMP based remote alarm gathering. Reducing spares holding The same X-Net modules can be installed in any X-Net rack or within stand alone box housings. Therefore, box and card units can be interchanged as necessary on site, reducing spares holding. In addition, an X-Net codec unit can be used as either an encoder or a decoder as selected via its web browser configuration pages. This means that only one type of codec spare is required, as well as allowing decode codecs to be redeployed as encode codecs as necessary. All SFP optical units are replaceable on site and spare optics can be ordered separately from COE, further reducing the amount of complete spare units and variants required X-Net on site. Video Intelligence Hardened specifications COE products are being actively used worldwide in varying climatic and environmental conditions, typically found in the petro-chemical, rail and transportation industries. Audio and contact closure channels allow you to manage most major systems with one product within the IP domain, using pre-provided interfaces, ensuring commonality and reduced maintenance costs. The system can be easily used in diverse applications like help points, public access and P.A. systems. 9
COE X-Net Network Management System (NMS) The X-Net NMS module provides remote diagnostics for all X-Net system modules, as well as providing SNMP extensions for use in third party alarm management systems. A 10/100BaseT Ethernet port allows both web based manual diagnostics of the rack and its various modules to be obtained simply by entering the IP address of the NMS module into a web browser. A VT100/Hyper Terminal Serial port interface is also provided for local access and configuration. Diagnostics for both transmit and receive modules are available from a single NMS module installed in the X-Net rack. 10
COE X-Net Companion Cards COE X-Net CC-16 Module The X-Net Contact Closure Module is used as a companion card to any X-Net module allowing easy expansion of alarm signalling. It provides 16 contact closure inputs and 16 relay outputs. Two Contact Closure Modules can be connected over a serial data channel, or a single module can be installed at one end and connected back to a COE Telecommand system. COE X-Net Star Module The Star Driver module is used as a companion card to any of the X-Net modules. It allows up to 8 separate telemetry devices (typically dome or PTZ cameras) to be star connected at the remote end of a transmission link and then carried across one single data bus transmission channel back to the system controller. COE X-Net Patch The Patch module allows for easy interconnection of mutiple X-Net data channels in a daisy chain or bus configuration using premade RJ-45 patch leads. The X-Net Patch module provides 1 x serial port to 15 x serial port connections. 11
COE X-Net Application City Centre Traffic Application Combine uncompressed fibre transmission alongside IP video compression codecs video is only compressed when and where it needs to be. X-Net Codec Urban Surveillance Application - High video channel count fibre tranmission Multi channel video, data, audio and alarm contacts can be cost effectively achieved over a single fibre core, to provide a range of peer to peer services between two separate surveillance systems. 12
COE X-Net CWDM Optical Multiplexing Optical multiplexing is commonly referred to as DWDM or CWDM technology: Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing(DWDM) or Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing(CWDM). Both methods provide a number of different wavelengths that can be used for information transmission within the fibre and both may be deployed in optical surveillance networks. Both DWDM and CWDM lasers are highly tuned devices that allow the optical spectrum from 1270nm to 1610nm to be split into a number of "optical channels". These channels, or wavelengths, can then be used by COE X-Net to send video and data, thus multiplying the video channel count by the number of wavelengths employed within the same fibre. This has a dramatic effect on the video channel count available since traditional optical techniques would dictate two wavelengths only: 1300nm and 1550nm. Previously the choice of DWDM and CWDM is defined by channel requirements and cost considerations. Typically CWDM is the lower cost option as the lasers are not as highly tuned. However, there are only 18 wavelengths available as opposed to DWDM where up to 96 wavelengths are available. COE X-Net CWDM Module The X-Net CWDM Module allows passive Coarse Wave Division Multiplexers to be neatly included within the X-Net rack, providing easy patch cord interconnection between optical modules without the need for costly and time consuming fibre splicing. Bespoke CWDM configurations can be easily provided to meet your optical network design requirements. 13
COE X-Net CWDM Applications In order to demonstrate the flexibility of CWDM technology, we have provided several application examples below. It is impossible to show all options within the scope of this brochure and we would encourage you to contact your account manager with your specific design needs or alternatively Example 1: Point to Point High Channel Count Link Figure 1 below shows a simple point-to-point system where 8 optical wavelengths have been employed to provide two-way transmission on one optical fibre. Standard COE X-Net modules have been used for the interfaces to the various video and data signals. Each COE X-Net module is fitted with a CWDM laser TX/RX unit. The individual optical connections are fed to the X-Net CWDM optical multiplexer module for multiplexing onto the trunk fibre. This configuration enables the User to: Increase video channel count from 8 to 144 (using COE X-Net OPT-8T modules) Increase auxiliary data/audio/contact channels as required Channels may be configured for transmission in either direction Keep within one 4U X-Net chassis space Figure 1. This example provides a very flexible point-to-point link with high channel count at low cost increments. 14
COE X-Net CWDM Applications Example 2: Linear, dual redundant railway transmission system In this example, the use of wavelength dependent ADD/DROP multiplexers (ADM's) enables us to realise a two-fibre dual redundant video network. Figure 2 shows the design. Each Station uses two wavelengths to transmit/receive video and data. Two ADM's are employed at each Station to manage the allocated wavelengths. The ADM's are low loss devices to ensure maximum optical path loss is available for the trunk fibre. Each Station also employs a 2:1 optical coupler and splitter for MAIN/BACK-UP fibre signal integration and the selection of which fibre to use is carried out at the Control Room via the X-Net CWDM & Optical Switch module. This module has an automatic selection control system for live fibre selection, therefore upon the failure of a fibre route automatic switch-over is achieved. Figure 2. This design may be expanded in many different ways including incorporating the techniques from the previous two examples. Hence complex topologies may be realised. Example 3: Perimeter security optical infeed system In this example the use of wavelength dependent ADD/DROP multiplexers (ADM's) enables us to transmit camera video and control signals from multiple locations onto a single fibre optic cable. Figure 3 shows the design. Each collection point uses two wavelengths to transmit/receive video and data. In this example two separate fibre systems are interlaced to provide an additional level of fibre redundancy. The design may be expanded to incorporate up to 8 collection points per fibre. Figure 3. 15
